Got my surgery date!
Hi Every one! I have my date for surgery! It's Feb 19, 2015!! It's all coming together now! I can already feel the anxiety building. Signing all the paperwork today and acknowledging all the risks was tough to swallow! I mean believe me... I know this is major surgery and there are major risks but... still initialing all the risks... that most of those sentences ended in "or even death" was tough. My surgeon is great though and super confident. I still feel good, just nervous a little. I imagine as the time gets nearer I will get more nervous but its great to have a place to vent and see other people who are going through the same things! I have two smaller procedures scheduled before the surgery, and endoscopy and IVC filter placement to help prevent blood clots. did anyone else have these done? what can I expect pain wise? I don't want to take any more work off than I have to. Any advice would be great! All in All.... I'm super excited! Can't wait to move forward to a new healthier beginning!!

I hate waiting!
I got the call last Wednesday that my insurance approval came in!! I was so happy! I see the surgeon today at 245! I will get my date then! Can't wait! Saturday I had some excitement.. I had received a letter from my insurance company stating that I was cleared for admission to the hospital 1/29/15! I got super excited thinking that was my surgery date but my friend said she doesn't think so, that it's just a clearance letter A part of me is still super hopeful that it is the date even though I could use more time to let work know... Lol. Now that I have my approval it is all so much more real! My anxiety is setting in. I know I want this and I trust that the last several months of preparation have prepared me but I'm terrified of the actual surgery and dying. It's helpful to read everyone's posts though and see everyone doing so well! When I get worked up I try an remind myself that this really is a better choice! If I don't do this now while in younger and healthy(ish) then 10 years from now I could be looking at worse surgeries an under way more unhealthy circumstances! Idk just wanted to share my thoughts and frustration at all this waiting lol!

Hi so I actually got the call on wed that my insurance was approved!! I go on Monday for my surgery date! It took a total of 7 business days! I hope yours goes as quickly! How do you use fmla? Do you know? I am so new at needing time off, but it's my understanding that things are going to move fast now and I could be looking at a surgery date as early as the first week of February! Good luck to you! Keep me posted! It would be cool if we are close in dates to have someone to take this journey with

typically how long for insurance approval
Hi everyone, I am new to this forum, but in the short time I have been on here I am so inspired and even more excited for my surgery! Tomorrow is my final dietician appointment and that should be submitted to my doctors office and then its waiting for the insurance approval! I am so excited now I am bursting at the seems! I just want my surgery date! I am so worried that something will keep me from approval! I am definetly obese and my BMI is well in the required area however I do not really have any other comorbitities (yet!) I am also wondering about asking for time off from work. any advice and comments would be welcome!
