  1. Hi all, So I'm in a dilemma. I got my lap band done way back in 2005 and have had two band slippages. I am getting married in April 2015 and I am worried that my band may have slipped again. I have not been to my doctor in almost two years and I am afraid to go because once I tell him my symptoms he will want to do a scope and find a problem. I have really bad reflex at night and sometimes vomit in my sleep when I wake up on my stomach. In the mornings I always vomit and it is a black liquid and burns. I am able to hold down food and have no problem eating. It's just at night. I am down 110 lbs and I bought my wedding dress and do not want to gain anything during the wedding. Now the only problem with my doctor is that he has turned his practice into a money making business. And he looks to do anything to bill my insurance. Before I go and see him has anyone had these type of symptoms and what do you do. I have been in the green for the last two years and don't want to go backwards. And do not want to gain anything before my wedding. Thanks!

    Protein HELP!

Think thin bars are great, one bar has 20grams of protein. I also have bought just plain cooked chicken and eat it with a low calorie dressing.

    Can you drink water quickly?

I always start my day with something hot, I have convinced myself that it helps me hold food down during the day. Needless to say I have become addicted to dunkin donuts hot choclate but it has never interfered with weight gain. I have remained at 135 for the last three years.
  4. Hi, So I am getting married in April and wanted to start trying to get pregnant around October/November. I am 8 years post surgery and down 130lbs. I have not had a fill in the past three years as well. I wanted to know what steps I should take. I have heard by some people that you need to infill your band before starting to try or to keep everything in. Also, does your port pop out when your belly starts to get big. I am terrified that they will make me take everything out because I know how fast the weight can come back. I also have an appointment next week with a high risk ob who has worked with many patients who have a band. Thanks!

When did you try Steak again?

I'm 8 years out and I still can't eat steak. It depends on the person though. It's one food I really miss eating.

    Drinking Alcohol After Being Banded?

Hi, I got the lap band when I was 20 and I am now 28. I always struggled with this. My doctor always said never to drink carbonated beverages but I can drink beer and champagne. Back in my early twenties I was able to drink a ton of fruity drinks and have no problem. Now all I seem to drink is wine and champagne drinks- mimosa and bellinis. I have a hard time drinking anything that has acid in it. It gives me really bad heartburn. Also, make sure you eat at least an hour before you start drinking. Being that it takes a long time to digust your food you don't want to be throwing it up because you didn't wait long enough. My big thing now is that I always make sure that if I am going out to dinner to have my one glass of wine before the meal. This way I am able to have the one drink and I don't have to wait the 30-45 to start drinking again after dinner. This is a huge adjustment and a learning experience. Good luck!
