  1. @@anewme15 I'm doing great. Just over 4 months post op. Feeling great. I've lost about 70lbs so far. So happy with everything. This was the best thing I ever did. I still have issues with food not agreeing with me, but that's not a bad thing. I'm looking forward to the summer. I have friends getting married and it's so nice to be excited to get dressed up and feel pretty. ????????
  2. Hi all. How is everyone doing?
  3. @anewme15. Congrats on your surgery date! So exciting.
  4. Hi everyone. I'm doing fine. I was back in the hospital for a few days due to dehydration. Not fun. But doing better now. Back to work on Monday. I'm finding it difficult to get lots of water and protein in. I feel like I am constantly eating or drinking.
  5. Good luck @tintin. I'm sure you will do great. Keep us posted!
  6. How is everyone making out? I am headed back to work on Monday. I can't wait to get back into a regular routine. I must say though, you really do need a bit of time to figure out how to time food, water, vitamins, etc. I am feeling really good myself.

    Mobile apps

I love mynetdiary. It has an app for iPhone and iPad. You can also punch in your own recipes and it will give you nutritional info. I can also track weight, vitamins/meds, water intake, exercise, body measurements, and daily notes. I have been using it for a few years off and on now. I love it.
  8. @tintin. I lost 16lbs on the Optifast. My husband lost 27lbs when he was on it 2.75yrs ago. Keep up the good work!
  9. @kcadoret. I started my vitamins as soon as I got home. They do give liquid in hospital. I couldn't find a liquid multivitamin. The wellesse calcium actually tastes decent though. I suggest a weekly pill box for vitamins and any medication.
  10. It is nice to have other people to talk to that are going thru the same things we each are. And just because the WMC doesn't have much for a support system in person, doesn't mean we can't suggest or start one. ????
  11. @tintin. I agree. Eating out with friends is really hard to do. But you still need to see friends. I found drinking my shake on the way to an evening out helped. I went to the movies with friends while on shakes and it was hard but I did it. Even post surgery it is not easy to go out to dinner with people at least early on. And constipation is your enemy.. Both before and after surgery. I never had a problem with it before, but now oh my. That all being said, things are still better. I have more energy. I don't sleep as long or feel as tired. And it's almost time to go shopping for a new outfit or two. Life isn't easy post surgery. But it is worth it. No buyers remorse yet! ????
  12. @tintin. How is the OPTIFAST going?
  13. @tintin. Woohoo! 3 wks til surgery! Way to go! Tomorrow starts a new beginning! Good luck and keep us posted!
  14. @kcadoret. I totally know how you feel. The sad part is you will be on liquids/soft foods for a long time. But at least you will have a few different flavours. I'm 20days post up and pretty much still eat yogurt and Soup. I have tried deli meat, didn't sit well. Tried tuna. It was ok but still felt weird. food is definitely a challenge post op. But you aren't physically hungry. It's more head hunger. I am nauseous or queasy a lot. But that seems to be the new norm. I haven't vomited yet so that's good. I know we have lots of challenges to overcome, but we can do it. ????
  15. @kcadoret. How are you making out on the Optifast? Only 5 days to go! Woohoo! You can do it!
  16. I found getting in and out of bed horrible for the first week. I am 19 days post op and can sleep comfortably on my back or right side. The left side is still a no go. I find I prop myself with lots of pillows and that really helps. It will get better. If it's Sore and not just when you are sleeping then contact your surgeon. It will get better. A bit each day.
  17. @kcadoret. Try looking for the sugar free freezies. That's what I used. I think I found them at Independent Grocers.
  18. @kcadoret. The OPTIFAST is really hard. I had a breakdown at about day 10. You can do it. Drink the broth and sf Popsicles and jello. It will help. I can't say it gets better but you will get thru it. And just wait til after surgery. Food doesn't taste the same. Or even good. ???? that's my issue right now. It's hard to get all the protein and fluids in. Just keep up the good work. You can do it! You WILL do it!????????????
  19. @tintin. That's wonderful news! Yay! A new start is just around the corner!
  20. @@anewme15 I'm doing fantastic post surgery. Had my follow up yesterday. The nurse was very happy with me. I've been getting in my water/protein every day. No nausea/vomiting. 4put of my 5 incisions are pretty much healed up. She teasingly asked if I was sure I had surgery. Lol. There is hardly any pain, except in the big incision on the left side and that's only if I move the wrong way. And now I get to move on to purée foods. Woohoo!
  21. Hi there. Anyone else scheduled for surgery in Ottawa this month? I just got the call this morning. Surgery is set for March 3!!!! Can't wait!!! Starting my OPTIFAST feb 10.

    All Set in Ottawa

Hi. My surgery went very well. I had RNY done and was out of the hospital the next day. I'm feeling really good. I go for my one week check up tomorrow.
  23. @tintin. I'm doing really well. Still burping but that's about it. FYI burping and hiccuping together HURTS! Pain is pretty minimal. Only taking tylenol about every 12 hours or so. I got to start protein shakes this morning. Woohoo! It's a chore trying to get all the fluids in. I have been out and about. My family can't believe I just had surgery 3days ago. ???????? feeling good!????????????
  24. Yes it was done at The Civic. I thought you guys would get a laugh out of the burping, etc. but it's TRUE!! Let me tell you, it's amazing how satisfying a good burp or fart it. Let me tell you. TMI but by the time you are done you really don't care. I was the only one released that was done that day. The other 2 patients had to stay. My roommate wasn't doing as well, and she lived a far ways away.
  25. My surgery was at 8am yesterday. I was drinking well. On minimal pain meds, up walking, farting, burping, peeing. No infections, blood sugars were good and I live 15 min from the hospital that did my surgery. ???????????? so excited to be home. The nurses and doctors took fantastic care of me.
