I just talked to my coordinator with A lighter Me. She said Dr. E. Ortiz, suctures over the staples and glues. They conduct three leak tests before you leave the hospital.

You may not need it going through, but on way back in. My coordinator told me, if you have the paperwork showing you requested it, along with that, you should be okay. Contact your coordinator and they should be able to tell you for sure.

Can anyone tell me if Dr. Ortiz sews over his staples like I've heard so many other doctor's do?

My surgery is December 11 in TJ. Start my preop diet day after Thanksgiving, l am trying to cut back , weening myself off coffee so that it won't be cold turkey. Tried protein shake that was recommended and I really like. Premier protein. Going to SAMs today to get a couple of 12 pks. Heard tastes changes after surgery, so I won't go overboard with buying a lot of stuff. Getting a little obsessive and reading as much as I can. Just can't wait to get it over with , so I can start this journey.

I too have a Dec 11th date!!! Getting anxious and a little obsessed right now. Getting ready to start a modified diet until I have to start my preop diet, so that it won't be so bad. What have all y'all been doing to prepare. Going ween myself off my daily cup of coffee. No more soda, don't drink a lot of that anyway.

Does anyone know if Dr. Elias Ortiz sews over the staple line?

Does anyone know if Do. E. Ortiz does the "sewing" over the staples? I don't know what is called but I have read that this is an extra precaution to avoid leaking. I have scheduled surgery with him on December 11th.
