I have met with my dietitian for the past 16 months, and now the referral cordinator is turning in my paper work to my insurance company, then she said after that I have to meet with a psych Dr. I'm guessing on approval from the insurance people, then after that, what should I expect and approximately how long will it take before the scheduling surgery part? The referral department said she will get to my paper work hopefully this week, can anyone tell me is it a long wait to hear back. I have Medicare as Primary and Medicaid as Secondary Insurance if that helps

The Pre-Op diet is this something that everyone has to do, cause I seen the majority of the post say they had to do it, but I also seen a few said their surgeon didn't require the pre-op liquid diet? I don't mind doing it, cause I am sure it's very helpful to lose as much as possible. Also the surgeon at the seminar I went to their office require it, says losing the extra weight makes it easier to see the liver during surgery, any and all feed back is welcome... I keep telling myself just sit back and let the professionals do their job and be patient, boy is that easier said than done, I find myself thinking about it almost 24/7. I think while I was meeting with my dietitian for the past 16 months I wasn't no where near anxious and so ready, now that I have finished that and the referral coordinator is submitting my paper work I am so inpatient now. I really need to find peace and just relax. I sure hope I don't have a long wait, I hope the coordinator has submitted it. Alright gonna try my best to just forget about it and find something else to focus on, because stressing over it won't make me hear anything any quicker.

I live in Michigan does, anyone else on here live in Michigan? And does anyone else on her from Michigan, and also have Medicare & Medicaid for Insurance? If so Is or did the process go slow with those insurance people? I just got through doing my year long meetings with the dietitians and now I am waiting on referral cordinator to get me referral to see a psychiatrist. Om Wednesday I am going to a seminar, so hopefully the process speed up and I hope to get approved, the time of waiting is torture. Can anyone tell me if they are having the same issues of waiting with Medicare and Medicaid.

Is there a site where I can go and check my Medicare to see if they have approved my surgery, or is that something you have to wait and here it from either a referral coordinator or the surgeons office? If anyone know please fill me in, I wanna see if they have a site where you can view their decision when they make one

Congratulations MommaBird, I am so happy for you, I know you are doing the happy dance, I can't wait to do that dance myself, I am waiting for referral coordinator to submit my paper work supposedly on Monday. I have researched and read so much about Gastric Bypass Surgery, I think my head is gonna explode. I literally don't think my brain can hold anymore knowledge about anything related to Gastric Bypass. I have been waiting on a approval, and in the meantime I've been reading others journeys and any other information about the surgery. I have been doing this for months already, but when I got to the stage where I am waiting on approval, I need to fill my time so I research, but I am officially all researched out. At this rate by the time I do meet with the surgeon as he is explaining everything, I will be sitting there thinking yep yep, cause I will already know everything he is telling me. So I think for now I will "TRY" to stay off the Gastric Bypass sites and groups I've joined on facebook. Seeing all this surgery talk just keeps me anxious and I am already impatient, so that don't help, especially when I am constantly reading people saying tomorrows the big day or my surgery is in 2 days, although I am happy for them, but it gets me all worked up on my own situation and this is becoming to stressful, while I am waiting on a approval, so with that being said I am staying off the social media sites that deal with anything Bariatric. BeautyInProgress where are you? I have United Health Care through my Medicaid, and they cover me, I am in Michigan. They have a few requirements but they cover it, I don't know if there are different extentions of United Health Care, but that is what I have.

How do I get a ruler to track my progress on here like I see with others do you have to have had the surgery already to get a ruler and show the progress of weight loss?

Hello Elysiap, I actually am not from NZ, but I am fairly new to this site as well, I am in the process of waiting for insurance approval. I can't wait till I get a surgery date. Yeah I know the feeling, I am waiting on approval from insurance, I am so ready, I had to do 1 yr. of dietitian meeting, but ended up doing 16 months, I have been on this journey feels like forever, so I am ready also for my liquid diet, and surgery. I have Medicare as my Primary Insurance, and Medicaid as my Secondary Insurance, my question is does either of these pay for Protein shakes and Vitamins, I read on a Gastric Bypass Support Group on facebook that some Insurance companies pay for it. So I was wondering if anyone has Medicare and Medicaid, I am also in Michigan, and it paid for it for you? All feed back is welcome...Thanks

Yeah I called I think friday, my insurance that is and they haven't gotten anything submitted to them, so I guess she will do it this week, just seem like my referral coordinator is my primary hold up. I wish she get on the ball, I wish I could light a fire under her to move along. With that being said I'll wait till the end of this week before acquiring again.... Congrats on your Approval

I'm not sure which one pay for what but it shouldn't take 3 yrs for the whole process, I wish you luck. I have Medicare/Medicaid as well.

Oh my goodness the sitting and just waiting on an approval or denial from Insurance company is killer. I am ready to finish what little bit of the journey I have left as for my psych eval, and meeting with the surgeon I wish I could have had those appointments while I waited, would have been nice to get those cleared out the way then I could just been scheduled once approved. Oh wow Marissa we really are in the same boat...Lol I know once I do meet with the Dr. he's gonna be talking and in my head I'll be like yeah yeah yeah I already know...Lol I also watched the actual surgery on Youtube. Like you said I am already an impatient person, and this situation is working my last nerve for patience. Omg I pray we both get some good news and fast, cause we are over flowing with knowledge already.

@@businessmom2011 do you still have the name of the website for the psych eval to post it here just in case someone else may need to use their services. I have Medicare/Medicaid I am so hoping I don't have to pay out of pocket, but if I do I would like to contact this place for only $100. My referral coordinator said she was using some kinda codes and doing something so I would have totally free surgery, where my two insurances cover everything, but to be safe I would like the name of that website please.

I'm from Michigan as well, but I don't have BCBS, I have Medicare as Primary and Medicaid as Secondary, but I know what ever Insurance you have Medicaid always pays second, so they should cover the remaining balance I would think, well good luck with your process, I'm waiting on approval myself so Good Luck too us both
