  1. Yay that's great! I know this Cali weather is ridiculous lol. Do you go to their support meetings at that hospital for the surgery? I go every Monday, they start at 6:30pm until 8:30pm. They are absolutely wonderful!
  2. Yeah I know what you mean! It is going to be extremely hard in the beginning, we just have to stick through it! lol and to have this right before Thanksgiving is hard! Luckily, some of my family has gone through the surgery and they are extremely supportive of it my cousin who had her sleeve done last year in June said she's going to make me a pumpkin spice protein shake that she came across and she said the numbers are really good and healthy enough to have after surgery so I'm very appreciative that they are able to help make the transition a lot smoother than what I expected! Honestly my only real biggest fear with this surgery is going to be the loose, baggy skin. A lot of people have said since I'm younger that my skin will less likely be baggy. Other than that I'm super excited to have my surgery and I can't wait to be on the losers bench!

  4. Yaaay you're a day before me! Congratulations on scheduling your surgery date! I'm super happy for you!
  5. Jeeeez sounds like a rough start! I'm sorry to hear all of that but at least you're doing better and I'm sure things will get better soon as well! I hope your doctor is able to explain what's going on with your stomach not being able to hold it down. Which surgery did you have? It kinda sounds like what sometimes happens with bypass patients. My mom had that same thing happened to her with her bypass. I haven't heard much of that happening with sleeve patients though. Hope you're feeling better!
  6. Ohhh very nice! Well either way, good luck to you on this life change
  7. I start mine Nov 1 but I'm thinking of starting it tomorrow or friday. When do you start yours?
  8. Oh my goodness how cool! I have Iqbal too!! wow that's great! I hope everything is going well

  10. That's not a problem at all! where are you located? Congrats on the surgery and glad to hear you are feeling well! Thank you
  11. Yeah my mom had her bypass about 12 years ago, my aunt had her bypass about 6 years and my cousin did her sleeve last year in June so we all know what we have to go through. Aww well at least you have us on here! I came here for extra support, maybe find people my age to connect with and I love talking to new people. I can't wait either, its such a huge change and to have a lot more people you can come to about things make it so much easier to adapt to it all
  12. What did your surgeon say to be on for the liquid diet? Mine told me to do 3 premier protein shakes. 1 for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and then yogurt in between breakfast and lunch and a broth between lunch and dinner. When is your surgery scheduled? Good luck with yours! Keep us updated
  13. Hello everyone! I'm looking for some buddies to connect with! I live in la habra ca. I am able to drive farther if needed since I already go to support meetings for wls all the way in fountain valley every week! I'm also wondering if there is anyone around my age doing the surgery as well? I am 19 years old, just thought I would ask. I am more than happy to connect with absolutely anyone. I have my sleeve scheduled for Nov 18!
  14. Hi Ladies! Room for one more OC sleever?? I will be having mine on Nov 18!!
  15. Mine is going to be Nov 18! I have been trying to eat slower as well, constrict portion size, sip water every 5-10 minutes. Trust me these are all not easy to do but it'll help to get into the routine for after surgery. I start my liquid diet Nov 1 so that'll help with getting in the zone right before surgery
  16. Lol mine is the same date in fountain valley Cali! Congrats on it! I start my liquid diet officially the 1st of November I know exactly what you mean, I'm so scared of not following it all the way but I know it has to be done

  20. Hello all! I'm new onto this site and thought it would be nice to say hi to everyone and I do have a few questions. Well a little about myself: My name is Kelsey. I'm 19 years old. Having my gastric sleeve surgery on the 11/18/2014. I live in OC Cali. I am appx 5'1 and 295lbs. My goal is to be 130lbs and a size 9 My surgeon told me to start my liquid diet on the 1st of this November but I'm looking to start it a little early. He told me that all I'll be eating is 3 Protein shakes for Breakfast lunch and dinner and then a yogurt in between breakfast and lunch and then a broth in between lunch and dinner. But I've heard other doctors will let people have some food. Did anyone strictly follow just liquids? If your surgeon said you were able to have food, did it have an impact on if your liver shrank small enough for the surgery to be done without complications? I know the standard for post op surgery is 3-4 weeks on liquids and then 3-4 weeks of pureed food and then slowly go into eating regular food again. Did anyone stay on the liquid or pureed diet for longer? Maybe 6-7 weeks? I've heard of people doing both. Thank you guys!
