Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome & Sleeve
Hi All, i am new to the PCOS forum. I was diagnosed with PCOS 15 years ago. I went thru fertility treatment to have my son. I have pretty severe facial hair and insulin resistance. I was sleeved on Dec 22nd. My weight loss has been slow compared to some others. I have so far lost 15 lbs including preop diet. I am a vegetarian and so is very hard to go too low carb as i have to rely on dairy and legumes for my protien and eat veggies. So I am thinking about 40gms per day......my biggest frustration at this point in addition to the weight is facial hair! Can anyone share if losing weight after sleeve has decreased or stopped facial hair?

Terrified and excited one month out
@@Rosie77 - I had the exact same feeling when i had my insurance approval and a date set! I was terrified of any and all complications that could happen! I have metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance and pcos and I completely understand your feeling about metformin! I was sleeved on Dec 22nd. My recovert has been as smooth as it can be! No unexpected complications, have not thrown up so far and am able to get in the required amount of fluids and protein. The first day was pretty painful but I was up and walking a couple hours after I got back to my room at the hospital. I did have moderate pain and was restricted in what I could do the first 2 weeks especially the main incision site was still sore. But after that I am almost back to most of my activities! Good luck! Be positive, it is certainly not as bad as I had imagined :-)

Soreness at incision site
@@Chubbyklink - I was sleeved in Dec 22nd. I have the same burning on the one large incision site. When i went for my post op appt, they said the main incision site will have stitches on the inner muscles as well and anytime we use those muscle we will experience that burning. By 4 weeks they said those stitches will dissolve and things should get better. Heat pads will temporarily relieve that. Hope u feel better.....

Post op help needed - hunger
I was sleeved on dec 22nd, i am just past 2 weeks and i am experiencing hunger too! I am already on omreprazole once a day........not sure how to differentiate head hunger vs. real hunger :-(, so when i feel hunge I sip decaf iced tea...... So please dont worry, seems to be happening to a lot of people I am able to eat 4 oz pureed food at one sitting. Is that normal or too much? And when we say contain carbs to less than 30g that includes evrything from milk, yoghurt and beans? I am a vegetarian so not sure how to really control carbs under 30 gms!!

For the people actively Losing weight that track food...

For the people actively Losing weight that track food...
I have not started tracking calories and carbs yet. I am on pureed foods, 2 weeks post op. I should probably start tracking calories and carb from next week when I move to soft foods. I do get around 70 gms of protien. My NUT told me yesterday that i should not take more than 80 gms of protien per day. If i do then weight loss will slow down!

Help. Sleeve was Monday. Feel like crap
I was sleeved 1 week before you on Dec 22nd. I still get that feeling when i sip without breaks and my abdomen just below my breast bone hurts. But it has progressively gotten better. I walked every 2 hours the first 2-3 days and now walk every hour. Even if it around the house that seems to help relieve gas pains. But the key is to constantly sip to make sure you are not dehydrated!

Anyone feel a hungry/nauseated sensation after surgery?
In addition to antacid i also received anti nausea injections and have them at hand now just in case. I think nausea is expected because of anesthesia!

Anyone feel a hungry/nauseated sensation after surgery?
I did not have nausea but i am on omapresol from first day onwards which is an antacid. I got it thru my iv at the hospital but take it orally after i got home. You may want to ask your doctor to prescribe a stronger antacid?

Pain at lower right incision
I was sleeved on Dec 22nd . I am still having severe pain in my lower right incision as well. I had called my surgeon's office, they said it is part of normal healing and not to worry. But it kills me everytime i move or try to get up from bed etc.

Hi, i was sleeved on Dec 22nd. I seem to be doing ok except for intermitent spasms. I am preferring decaf unsweetened iced tea with splenda instead of water or other fluids, is that ok?

Christmas Gastric Sleeve Surgery Booked - December 21st! Anyone else in December?
Omg! My date is Dec 22nd and I am getting my surgery at IU North Hospital in Indiana. I am having my preop testing on Dec 1st...have any dec sleevers in the US gone thru preop testing? My doc says I dont need to go thru the swallow test where they look inside my stomach. Also she says doing the leek test i.e injecting the blue liquid during the surgery to check for leaks is not effective foe sleeve, so she just does extra sutures where the staples cross and at the top....should U be concerned? Can someone please share what your doctor has told you regarding preop test and surgery leek test?
