  1. Northwest Missouri, about an hour and a half north of Kansas City.
  2. While this made me laugh out loud, I completely agree!!
  3. The group @@curvycurlyfit is creating will be private, so no one will know on Facebook. However the one that is already created is a closed group and you can see the members of the group. (Anyone please correct me if I'm wrong )
  4. Will they consider changing it to private? I've been honest but not completely open about my surgery and this is closed group...which means people can still see it. Just curious.
  5. Good luck with insurance!!! I received my approval yesterday...we are on the same schedule! Monday for preop testing, thurs start preop diet, surgery 11/13! ????
  6. Why the fall bladder removal? Did you have issues prior? Or is it in anticipation of problems after surgery? My insurance won't cover a gall bladder removal at the same time unless it's related to other issues. So I was just curious.
  7. Feel the same! Excited yet nervous!!!
  8. Amazingly quick!!! Received a call from surgeons office today with my approval!!! Surgery scheduled for 11/13 pending pre-admission qualifications turn out ok (ie EKG, labs, chest X-ray) which is Monday and EGD scheduled for Wednesday! Yay!!!!!
  9. Ahhhhhh!!! Today I received my approval and my surgery date of 11/13 ...I've been struggling with insurance for 3 long weeks plus a 6 month physician assisted weight loss....I can't believe it's almost here!!! ~~Northwest Missouri ????
  10. Perfect! That's what I went with! Thanks!
  11. What's the difference between the kindle version and the PDF version? I have an iPad and the kindle app...but wasn't sure which one to go with. Thank you! So excited to purchase and read!
  12. Btw--this would be an amazing bday present!!!
  13. I'll admit, I've never been fond of the idea of seeing a psych...although it has been sooo helpful! I have actually continued to see the psych 1-2 times a month. Not sure how long I'll continue but it works for now.
  14. I received a denial letter today. I was so frustrated because they denied without having all the info. I took a deep breath and called insurance. After review they found that they received the info they needed and stayed I should have an answer by Friday, at the latest Monday. Fingers crossed!!!!
  15. From what I heard, endoscopy is usually 2 weeks before surgery...however psych will need done prior to insurance approval. At least this is how it is working out in my case. I had my psych eval done when I started my 6 month phys assist weight loss in May/June. How ever they told me they wouldn't schedule my EGD until my insurance approves me for surgery.
  16. Called, got the letter. Surgeons office emailed me saying they have it and faxing to insurance right then (at lunchtime). Yay!
  17. Oh yes. I'm going to do that Wednesday. Was just hoping to know something before then. I know these people (pcp and surgeons nurse) personally, spits hard bc I don't want to be overbearing and a PITA, however I also want to advocate for myself.
  18. Wow!!! That's amazing!! I'm kind of in the same boat too. I'm hanging out at a bmi of 40, makes me nervous my ins will deny me bc I have no co morbidities. And we change insurance at the beginning of the year...which if I have to wait, I start a different 3 month process. So nervous!!!!
  19. May 2014 I attended a bariatric information meeting. Started the 6 month physician assisted weight loss requirement for insurance. Completed beginning of Oct. Paperwork submitted to Cigna 2 weeks ago. 1 week later found out I was temporarily denied because they are requesting a letter of medical necessity and medical clearance from my PCP. Informed my PCP who stated she would submit letter (all before my surgeons office had any idea I was denied). Surgeons office stated they would call me Monday (yesterday) with a status to the resubmission (assuming they receive pcp letter in a day or two). I've sent 3 follow up emails since last week and last one stated to please let me know when letter from PCP is received bc I don't want they surgeons office to be waiting on her document and I don't want to bother my pcp if she sent it. Called Cigna today and they stayed they haven't received any additional paperwork yet...grrrr. I'm on a strict deadline and so frustrated. I need an approval and to have surgery prior to the end of the year. Sigh. Patience is a virtue that I lack.....
  20. I'm north of KC, doing all my preop stuff with Heartland (Mosaic) in St Joe! The surgeons office will tell you what you need to pay. Usually they want your full deductible or if you have met that, then whatever your co-insurance portion would be. So say your surgery costs $15,000, and your co insurance is 20%, then they would want $3000 up front. We have had a lot of family medical stuff going on (a 6 day stay at children's will have anyone meeting their deductible and near out of pocket max--although worth it for the excellent facility and drs)....anyway, I'm pushing to have mine done this year bc we have met out deductible and have only $800 til we hit our out of pocket max of $9000 for the year. Your out of pocket is the most you will pay in the year for all medical. So you pay full deductible first, then whatever your co-pays or co-insurance is up to your out of pocket max. So once you hit that max, you pay nothing. Make sense?
  21. Love this! Good for you!!! You look amazing and all your hard work has paid off! Thanks for sharing!!! (A newbie waiting on insurance approval after 6 month phys assist weight loss).
