Lap-Band in Upstate NY
Hi All, I may need some help. I am going to my 2nd nutrition appt on Tuesday and I have needed to lose 11 lbs from my 1st weigh in. I lost 7 from that with my 1st appt, but had another 4 to go. Well as of this am, I am down only 2.5. Any suggestions on how to lose that 1.5 within the next 6 days??? I really don't want to have to add another appt onto this! Thanks for any suggestions!

Hi HN/TV Sounds like you two are moving right along! I feel like it is taking forever to get this done. I am sure you both understand what I am feeling. It is great to hear that both of your surgeries went so well. So how long are you waiting until the 1st fill? I think we were told 4-6 weeks, but I am not sure. I don't go until next week for my 2nd appt. Hopefully that will move things along faster! Gilta

Lap-Band in Upstate NY
Boy - this thread took off since I started this! Sorry I have been MIA lately. I am jumping through all of the hoops to get my insurance company to pay. So far so good. I have gone through the general nutritional meeting, my 1st follow up and met with the psychiatrist. That meeting with them was interesting to say the least. The psychiatrist asked me how will I feel being thin and having guys rub up against me?! How weird was that? He at least went onto say that women sometimes have a hard time once they lose weight because they are not used to the attention and will gain weight back. I go for my hopefully last nutrition meeting 4/22 and then onto meet with Dr. They are now telling me it is 6-8 weeks for the scheduled surgery after my last nutrition appt, so I guess that will now be in July instead of May which is what I was hoping for. Hope all is well! Gilta

Your Ah-ha Moment?
Mine was when I was having severe headaches and found out my blood pressure was high. Back when I was thin, they used to tell me my blood pressure was on the low side!

Lap-Band in Upstate NY
I was told from the MD office, that since I have more than 4 years of documented weightloss attempts I would be approved. I have been very involved with my MD and she has had records in my chart. Maybe that is why they approved it so quickly. Gilta

Lap-Band in Upstate NY
I hope to be much less than a year when I am done. I went to the information meeting in December and hope to have my surgery before July 1. I was slow in making my appointment for the first nutrution meeting so I did not make the January cut off. I lost a month there. I have my nutrition meeting Feb 28(next week!), then 2nd March 25th, the final on April 22nd. They told me they then refer me to the MD within 2-3 weeks after that last appointment. They said that within 2 weeks of meeting the MD I will have my surgery date. I also think it depends on your insurance. Mine did not require the 6 months with the nutrition, just the 6 year confirmation of weight loss attempts. good luck

Biggest Loser
I had to chime in as well. I love the Biggest loser, but wonder if I could make it! I did the same as others, thinking they look bigger than me but weigh less. One of the women from last year, lives in our area. They posted her information in our local paper and showed her measurements, sorry to say that while I thought she looked bigger than me her numbers were less than me. That is why I said I have to do something now. I am going for my nutritional meeting at the end of this month. Hope to have the band by June. I want to be the biggest loser in my mind! Gilta

Suggestions?
Hi All, It sounds like I am a bit earlier in the process than others, so I wanted your expertise. I am headed for my "nutritional" training at the end of the month. They told me that they will tell me how to eat after being banded. I know there are a lot of differences based on MDs, so I thought I would ask you what things have you found that you can no longer have? Thanks!

Gall Bladder
My MD is having me have an ultrasound of my gall bladder. He said that with major weight loss there is a higher risk of gall stones. I may have to have my gall bladder removed during the lap band surgery. Is this a usual thing? Thanks, Gilta
