You're right... it has a LOT to do with the massive amount of follow-up with the band. Please keep us posted on how everything is going with you. Thank you for sharing this... Like I said before, never had heard anything bad about TENG as a surgeon. He's supposed to be the best.

Perhaps it will make some feel better to know... I did lose hair after both previous surgeries, and it all grew back. It is quite scary and traumatizing to lose the hair, but it's very normal. Many of the suggestions here might help you... definitely watch the vitamins, protein, etc. That might help cut down on the loss. Anyways, I guess I'll take a little hair-loss along with my fat-loss! I have heard a LOT of good information about Dr. Teng. A few people I know here in Vegas have gone to him. He is very skilled and professional... However, I have never heard one good thing about his office staff. My best friend had her band through Dr. Teng, and she had a ton of problems getting appointments, etc. Again, these are his family members, so it is incredibly hard to "complain"... Nonetheless, never heard one thing bad about HIM. He's supposed to be the best in town. :smile:

The only thing that I tried to wear soon after surgery, which was a problem, was a BRA. The underwire poked and was very uncomfortable, especially for the upper incision, where they put in the tool that holds up your liver during surgery. Other than that, if you have any loose fitting dresses, that might be helpful. You might be bloated, or not. But you will likely have lost a few pounds already... whatever your favorite pants were before the surgery, they will probably fit much nicer the week or two after... loosely. Do you drink or eat anything at all with caffeine? Take pain relievers with caffeine? That could contribute. If you just got the sleeve, it's probably dehydration. Some gross questions: is your urine very yellow or dark? is your mouth sticky or dry? if you are indeed into something serious in terms of dehydration, you'll have to do more than plain Water. Get something with electrolytes in it, and possibly if the other questions I asked, plus the headache persist, go to urgent care tomorrow and ask for an IV. Drink carbohydrate/electrolyte-containing drinks. Good choices are sports drinks such as Gatorade or prepared replacement solutions (Pedialyte is one example). Suck on popsicles made from juices and sports drinks. Suck on ice chips. Sip through a straw (works well for someone who has had jaw surgery or mouth sores).

I agree with CAJUN... it's best to do a lot of homework and choose your surgeon wisely. With that said, any and all doctors can and do have complications... but, I'd rather be safe than sorry, and pick someone with a lot of experience, high level of success, and low level of complications and problems. It is very likely your headaches are due to either caffeine withdrawal or it could also be dehydration... If it's dehydration, that's a serious problem that I would get checked for ASAP. It's SUPER easy to get dehydrated, not being able to drink as much or as often as we might like... I went through this BOTH times when I had band surgery (band in, and when it came out). I actually had to do the IV rehydration. I hope that's not the case for you, but it's something to consider... Hope you feel better soon. :smile:

Hi Nancy, From my research (online and off), I have discovered that this statistic you mention is VERY accurate. He has done a TON of bands and bypass, but very limited amount of sleeves. There are two nice ladies I met on here that are going to Vegas soon, to have their sleeves done with Dr. Umbach. One of them said they would share their experiences with me (and, since I live here in Vegas, I may even meet up with them while they are here... they're from my home-state). Anyways, if I come across more information, I will share it with you. I do have SOME further information that I would be happy to share in a PM if you'd like. Let me know... Best! :smile:

Bernadette is right... I have been through the depression roller-coaster too. It does take time to find what works, but once you do, it will be ok. Also, some of the side-effects of drugs like Wellbutrin and Zoloft are short-term and not long-lasting... The lack of any kind of really negative types of side-effects with these two drugs is why I have stuck to this family of meds... I tried a few others, some gave me headaches, etc. Please know, you're doing the right thing, trying to figure this out and get on the road to happy! As for the anxiety part of this, depression and anxiety often go hand-in-hand. Sometimes, for me, this was worse than the depression (I have trouble sleeping, etc, and this is often associated with anxiety). Were you able to check out the list that I posted earlier in the week, of meds, how they work, and what they are supposed to do? If not, I would be happy to look it up again. Also, I did find some article in Harvard Mental Health, etc, about the issue of depression and bariatric surgery. I can email them to you at your private address if you want... VST won't let me attach them, they're too big. Anyways, hang in there sister! You're doing awesome!

I'm glad I found this thread... I was going to ask the same question. I know how much BS I went through after my band removal, but that was a lot of problems that had nothing to do with the surgery, specifically. Anyways, thanks for the info. Do you guys think 7-10 days then? :thumbup1:

I've been taking these for a while, and am wondering the same thing. Does anyone know? I think they are pretty reasonably sized compared to the big calcium horse-pills. Hope someone answers this question. :thumbup1:
