Any November Sleevers?
10 days out, lost 15 lbs, feeling great! Starting weight 299 day of surgery November 11, now 284. Lots of energy, more then before my surgery, back at work, had very minimal pain after surgery, mostly gas in my chest which was uncomfortable. Incisions pretty much healed & I feel so normal considering I only have 15% of my stomach left. I have no problems drinking water & getting fluids in. Protein going down fine & I'm so happy already that I chose to have this surgery! My surgeon Dr Ramos Kelly was amazing, I went to Tijuana & had such great medical care, so thorough, clean & both my mom and I were impressed! Loved my nurses and hospital staff, met some other wonderful patients having sleeves done as well. Can't wait to keep watching this weight fall off!!!! Every day gets easier & better!

Any November Sleevers?
Omg, I can't believe 2 more days until my surgery!! Feeling hungry on clear liquid phase but determined... Excited, anxious and curious as to how my sleeve will react in my body!

Hernias ?
I've noticed many sleevers end up needing a hernia repair as well during surgery. Does anyone know why this is? How did you not know you had one before getting sleeved or during any pre op testing?

Drinking
My Surgery is in less then 2 weeks and I'm getting nervous/anxious! I'm having a harder time thinking I won't be able to chug water more then any of the food stuff. I love water!! Also will I ever be able to drink wine with dinner?? Can you still consume alcohol after you have been sleeved? I like socializing with friends and having wine.

High blood pressure
So I went to my local family Dr last week and he told me I have high blood pressure and this is a first for me. So he told me to monitor my blood pressure for a couple weeks before putting me on medications. My surgery is November 10 in Mexico & want to get my pressure in check before then! Does anyone have foods they would recommend to lower blood pressure? Did anyone have high pressure prior to surgery? Were you ok or did u go on medication to lower it?

Telling family Doctor about surgery
Well that went better then expected, Dr didn't say anything negative or positive just took notes. His only concern was that all the pre surgery requisition was happening on the same day as surgery and how would my surgeon adjust something that may come up in my results in time for surgery. What if something critical came up and I couldn't get it done that day or week!? In Canada all those Dr checks take months to get into to see a specialist for endoscopy, heart specialist, radiology scan of abdomen etc. I have high blood pressure at the moment so I have to monitor that. My Dr is sending me for blood work and hopefully I can get into having my stomach & gallbladder X-ray! Thanks for everyone's input!! I'm doing this surgery in T.J no matter what!!!

Telling family Doctor about surgery
So I'm seeing my family Dr today for the first time since I decided to book my surgery for gastric sleeve in Mexico! I'll be telling him I'm getting it done November 10th & worried he is not going to approve of me leaving the country for my surgery or having it done at all! Did anyone else have difficulties getting support from their family Dr when doing travel medical tourism surgery? I'm from Canada so Medical stuff is paid by our government but a gastric sleeve is a 3 year wait list which is just too long of a wait! I'm going to ask my Dr for all the preliminary testing, let's hope he agrees!!

Mexico travel warning?
A friend of mine sent me this article today as she knows I'm going to Tijuana for gastric sleeve surgery in November. http://www.travel.state.gov/content/passports/english/alertswarnings/mexico-travel-warning.html Is anyone else worried about traveling to Mexico or even on a plane considering Ebola is all over the news??! I'm kinda freaking out about both and my tickets are already booked!! Has anyone recently been there for this surgery & did u feel safe??

Did you leak, who's your surgeon?
I've noticed a few people mention they experienced leaks after their surgery and I'm just curious to know who was your surgeon? Do you think it could have been prevented by your surgeon or was it your after care of the food you ingested?

What was your Dr pre op testing?
Just curious as to what everyone's doctor screened you for to see if you were a candidate for gastric sleeve? I am going to Mexico November 10th to have surgery and they do all my testing the same day I arrive & have surgery. I notice others are being tested in advanced for vitamin deficiency, amongst other testing and am curious what was your pre requisite to get approved? I plan to go see a naturopath and am seeing my own Dr in Canada for a thorough check up this week. What should I get them to look for? I want to be extra cautious that my body is ready for such a dramatic surgery! Thanks in advanced!

Sugar free diet yet against aspartame
Thanks everyone for your feedback!! Here is a great article on Splenda! I'll opt to use some sugar free while in the healing weeks after surgery but agree to not add any sweetener or stick with stevia. http://institutefornaturalhealing.com/2013/06/splenda-the-little-packet-of-death/

Sugar free diet yet against aspartame
I notice a lot of our diet is recommended to change to sugar free everything!! I'm super against aspartame/Splenda, as many health studies have proven how bad it is for your brain and body!! I currently use stevia (a natural derived sweetener) but it's not found in a lot of drinks or products. Has anyone else found they can still eat things that are not filled with aspartame chemicals and still loose weight? Or have found products they love made with more natural sweeteners?

Overwhelmed at the thought of the new way of life I will have to adapt
OMG I feel the exact same way!! My surgery is November 10th and every time I chug my water right now I think to myself this won't happen post op! I LOVE water and to eat 3 baby spoons for a meal freaks me out!! However my friend had surgery 1 year ago and she eats and drinks a little more then that now, but definitely a change of lifestyle for sure. I'm scared of not absorbing enough nutrition through food and to be stuck on vitamins for life is a scary thought!! I was going to do a post on this same subject tonight, thanks for posting!!

Liver & gallbladder flush
Has anyone heard about doing a liver/gallbladder flush to get rid of possible gallstones? I have my surgery in November and am paranoid about getting gallstones after... Or bad acid reflux. Someone recommend I do a flush before I have my surgery to cleanse out the liver and gallbladder. Has anyone done this? Did anyone have to get their gallbladder removed after surgery? Thanks guys!
