I Just Ate a Chocolate Bunny!!
To Quote South Park - "Shut up! or the Bunny get's it!!" OK - let's get real. 800 calories? That is less than a quarter of the 3500 calories it takes to gain a pound. It's not the end of life. Step away from the Bunny and all will be well. HUGS!!

Protein Shakes
I found that the unjury powder was very icky. My best bet for Protein powder is Carb Solutions Meal Replacement powder (Safeway/TomThumb) or something called Six Star that I get at Walmart. Either one is quite palatable mixed with anything. I use vanilla and chocolate, depending on what I am mixing with. If you start with better tasting protein powder, the shakes will be more doable. Good Luck!

One More Time... (believe me, you know the drill)
I am with you on the getting the band to Keep it Off. That was my reasoning, too. I can only offer you this advise - if you haven't got your insurance pre-approval and your BMI is near the 40 limit - DON'T go on the hardcore diet until you have the pre-auth. in your hand and a surgery scheduled. It would be Awful to be 5 lbs below the cut-off to qualify because you worked your guts out to lose... But, if you are like me and have PLENTY of BMI to spare - then go for it. Good Luck!

Howdy! How's everybody? I am sitting here thinking about packing... I leave for Dallas tomorrow and back to another 3 weeks or so of my "normal" life. Hi Ira! I see you lurking as I type. Hope all is well with you. Pat - I hope your Son get's some resolution to all this with the Witch. I really can't believe how crazy some of these women are... and cruel. I did get a little shopping in... I went to a couple of really HUGE malls, here. Of course, I didn't buy much. But I got some cute shoes.... HUGS!! We love you, too. Eileen!! Don't make me come over there!! DANG - Skanky Dude isn't EVEN that bad. I think that must be a shot of YOUR dream man! Seriously, I am going home to my Dream Man tomorrow night. Y'all probably won't hear much from me until Monday! Randy - If your doc isn't worried - then just watch your calories and protein - be sure you are getting enough of both - and don't overdo on the sugar/carb intake. Hopefully that will clear up that Dizziness. If not, try some sinus medicine... Hugs! Patty - glad to hear the new Tutor is working out. Maybe if you keep charging Dingwad for the lessons, you can have her keep coming after the free stuff ends. If she is good and the boys are showing improvement - it would be a good thing. Glad you guys had fun at the Big D. Kelly - HUGS! I figure you will be needing some more of those until this whole thing with your DH is resolved. What is he going to do when you go on your trip? Starve? Or is he going with you? I hope he pulls it together soon. It's hell when our loved ones temporarily lose their minds. Sherry - It's official... you are now a HOT BIKER MAMA IN TRAINING!! Walk Proud, Sistah. You got Biker Girl Power! And, next time, ask those tough questions AFTER the fill... you just don't want your doc getting all nervous on you when he has that 4 inch needle in his hand! Anne - A day at the Park? That sounds like a fab day. I could throw some designer water into a cooler and grab a blanket and a good book and hang at a local park...I haven't done that in ages. Maybe tomorrow afternoon...But knowing my Sweetheart - we will end up at IKEA or Bed Bath and Beyond or something. We are shopping for new curtains for the Garden Room. Dianne - Sorry about the whole Work thing... But I am glad the Mural gigs are coming in. Maybe that is where you should really be... I hope you really can come to meet with Eileenie & I at that Mexican Restaurant. I want a third-party witness to the level of skankiness we are talking about. It sure ain't Poopeye the Sailor Man that Eileen posted! Good Luck with the Party for DH. It will all come together for you, I just know it. Donna - I start reading your post, and I get jealous, and then I get Jealous again... First, you are going to the gym like EVERY day? That is so Cool. And you are going to the Beach for Easter...AND you have RESTRICTION!?! Is that the coolest thing ever or what? I can't wait for my 2nd fill on Thursday. I could REALLY use some restriction. I don't have any big plans for Easter. We are pretty much Heathens at the old homestead. No church - maybe a bunny or a peep. That's about it. Well, it's getting very late - and I am still only thinking about packing. I guess I had better get on with it. Fortunately, it will only take a few minutes. I travel very light. Hugs All Round!! See ya in the next time zone! :]

Hi Guys Another Glorious Day in New York... Betty - it seems like you are always running these days. I hope you get some down time soon. Pat - Hugs! I feel awful for those kids. Maybe she will find some other family to torment. Eileenie - I wasn't batting my eyelashes! That was alergies or something. Now, I MIGHT have fluttered at the Italian Waiter - just a little. :] I have a LOFTY goal for next month's visit... I want to be under the big 300... It would be 16 lbs in a month - but I think I can do it. Dianne - Hi! Welcome back! Hope everything is going great for you. Fill us in! Anne - I fly out toward home on Friday. And that 2 am and dragging all the next day sounds OH so familiar... I hate the time change! Sherry - congrats on passing the Motorcycle test! Hope your fill went ok. Patty - so, how was the show? Yep, that's Mother Love all right... Kelly - sorry the insurance people are such buttheads... Congrats on the size 24 pants! Cindy - I hope the whole Estate thing works out more smoothly than you fear... and Friday is practically a Holiday for me, too. My manager that is with me for this trip had something she had to do on Friday night - so she booked us both on a flight out of here at 11 am. I will be home before 2:30! Pretty cool for someone who usually works until at least 7pm... Mary - which one do you want to hear about? The Skank at the Mexican place? Or the Eye Candy at the Italian one? The Skank is pretty skanky. Now, the Italian guy is pretty good... He has a shaven head, and a twinkle in his eye. You just have to be there... Well, My Dears - I have to get ready for another exotic and exciting day at the Due Diligence review. Hugs to All.

Hi All Eileenie - lunch was divine... Same time next month? And quit telling stories about me Flirting... I was SO not flirting with that Mexican Restaurant Waiter... You have never seem me flirt! Pat - OH MY GOD! Can't you just have her committed or something? What was your darling boy thinking when he hooked up with her? Scary...and very sad for the children and for your Son, too. Mary - how's it going, Chica? Hope you and the boys are having a good day. Darcy - sounds like you had way to much fun at the Quilters Convention. I'm limping a little bit myself tonight... we went to the outlet mall and walked and walked... looking at clothes nobody could afford to buy or wear. But it was fun! Donna - I envy you your long sleep! I bet you got a pretty big Warm/Fuzzy when your Dad told you he was proud. Kudos for your continued exercise efforts. Cindy - Scarborough Faire started on Saturday and runs until the end of May... It is way out in the middle of nowhere - but it's pretty fun. You can check it out at www.scarboroughrenfest.com Betty - you getting this? Maybe we can pick a Saturday and all go. Patty - Hope you and the boys are enjoying your week together. Anne - you don't have to worry about Eileenie and I fighting over the waiter at the Mexican place... he was kinda skanky... We have decided to fight over the charmer at the Italian place... Eye Candy is the Best kind... no carbs, no fat - ALL Sugar... lol! Kelly - I wish we ALL could afford travel. We could hook up somewhere in the middle for a couple of days. *sigh*. Itchy skin sounds like Alergies to me. Hope it feels better soon. Sorry about the whole DH situation. Randy - if you are eating enough calories and eating enough protein, it could be something like an inner ear infection. I get dizzy spells once in a while when I have alergy attacks - the pressure of my sinuses on my inner ear can do it. You had better get your doc to check it out, though. Sherry - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Sounds like your crew took good care of you. LOVE the card from the dog... Isn't Romance fun? It's totally cool that you guys match up so well - even though your profiles weren't compatible. Well, I am going to snuggle in under the down comforter and get to sleep. I will check in again tomorrow. xo

Easy Way OUT??
OK. Your life (yes, your very life) depends upon you getting 5 miles across town. You can take the virtuous path, and walk there... or you can get in your car and drive. HOW MANY PEOPLE WOULD CHOOSE TO WALK? Uh DUH. Even if it IS the easy way, why the hell would you not take it. For most of us, our lives really do depend on it. So get in the car and drive, baby!

The new me!
WOW!! Did I remember to say WOW?!? Dianne - you look fantabulous!! And that's at only 50 lbs. DANG! What a Hot little number you are going to be when you get down to goal!! Keep up the great work!

Hey Y'all! I was saving myself for the Cheesecake Factory - and I guess I didn't have to hold out for very long... We went to the "Big" Mall tonight - shopped and then had a lovely dinner at the Factory. MMMMM. I just finished my Coffee Heath Bar Crunch cheesecake... We ordered it to go, since we were all so sated and tired after a long day of work, and then shopping, and then dinner.... It was good - but after over a week with no carbs, it was almost gacky sweet. I think I should have gone with the Key Lime... Oh well. Next time. Patty - Enjoy the break with your boys! Your Psych Doc is young, cute and a Disneyland Virgin? Geez, Girl! Sounds like you have some work on your hands... lol! Eileenie - if you will come grab me again, we can go wherever you want. We can go visit your boyfriend, or find you a new one.... whatever works! Hows about 11:30? LOVE the Bunny look. Are you wearing that for lunch tomorrow? :] Anne - Sounds like the 2nd bout of Last Supper Syndrome is lots worse than the first one was...Sorry about that. One thing that I have found is that portion control just doesn't work if you don't have restriction. Can you do the low carb thing? I swear it works... and you don't have to worry too much about whether it's fat free or anything... Lisa! Are you coming over to play in Jersey? It's fun! Mary - Whoever gets the kids will get the house... That's probably why your lovely ex wants the kids... Keep your chin up and don't let him have custody! HUGS! Congrats to your boy on the First Trout. I am jealous! Cindy - do you guys do the Scarborough Faire? Maybe we can pick a Saturday and meet up out there... I have season passes... I would be an option for walking vs eating, too! We could get all the TX folks to come... Hi Pat! Betty - I surely would have liked to be out in my garden, instead of working today. What about you? Are you into the Scarborough Faire? I think it would be a hoot if we could all meet up out there. Sherry - Crystals on the dress? You are my kind of gal! I love that! So, you are one of those Dating Service success stories, huh? Cool. Did you have to fill out lots of questionaires for that, or was it one of those where you watch the tapes of people? Well, it's off to bed for me... tomorrow is another day, and I have some cool new shoes to wear! Talk to you later! Hugs all round!

AWESOME!!! Now, pictures, please.... Happy Bandiversary!

Need some good advice from people that understand.....
Hugs! Please keep in mind that even with the RNY - you will be able to eat counter-productive foods and hide your eating from others - Your doc will still expect you to make the effort to make good food choices, to exercise, etc. What you won't be able to do is change your mind... If you are eating and not exercising - AND STILL losing a pound a week? Well, that's pretty darned good. I really have to advise you to get some kind of counselling - or at least someone you know that you can talk to about this kind of stuff. I had all the same issues in the first two mos after I got my band - not wanting to do anything but eat, and so darned happy I still could. It's only in the last couple of weeks that I have sort of pulled myself together. I wouldn't make such a permanent decision as RNY until I was ready to at least commit to making the effort. In the mean time, find someone to talk to - professional or just a pal - it doesn't matter. You can keep on doing what you are doing and losing a pound here and there while you do it. I sincerly hope you can pull out of this slump. Regardless of what surgical option you decide to use, you have to do the work - and you are going to need some peace and strength to do it. Hugs, HUGS, HUGS!!

April's Chat
Hey Guys; I'm here in Pearl River. I am travelling with much better companions this trip - and I am having some legitimate fun. Neither of these ladies is officially my "Boss" so I am able to relax and enjoy. We had dinner at Il Fresco - DANG it was good. I had the filet mingon with lump crab and mushrooms in wine sauce. To. Die. For. So good, and I didn't even "cheat" on the low carb thing. I must admit, though.... I fully intend to carb it up at the Cheesecake factory! Eileenie - we are ON for lunch on Tuesday. I know of several fantastic dishes I can eat on a low carb basis. Today, the scale said 316! I only hope I don't screw it up too badly while I am here. I was getting pretty tired of making excuses to my doc... even though they were true! Sherry - How are the fishies? Love the Patriotic Wedding colors. Very cool. And I think your DH must be a scream. Love the pic with the chair. Betty - I surely should have been at Ikea or Gardening or something! ICK. I'm still not over the shock! It's a new W-4 form for me for sure! Patty - join the club on the gray hair! I have a Cruella DeVille stripe...Such fun about the Cast store... Nothing like getting really cool gifts on the cheap. PAT - I am ROLLING on the floor here... lo mein on the computer screen... LOL! Good luck on that next fill... I go in for the 2nd one next week. I can hardly wait. Once I get restriction again, I can give up my low carb ways... Kelly - sorry about the Vitamin thing. YUCK. Hope you enjoy your days off. Well, it's time for all good little underwriters to be in bed... Hugs all Round! Love you guys!
-
Egads! Can I do this???
All I can add to this is DON'T WAIT. Do not wait until you're 41 yrs old with a BMI of 59. Go NOW. Run, do not walk. Just be sure you have a doc lined up here to do the aftercare BEFORE you go to Mexico. If you are signed up for surgery with Dr. R - I bet he would help you locate someone beforehand. Hugs, and Good Luck!

Hey Guys Thought I would check in - since I have been MIA for the last few days. Talk about Slammed. I guess the brokers are all getting an early start on the month... Sherry! Look at your new avatar! HOT MAMA!! WOO HOO!! How cute are you!?!? The fill worked GREAT - for about 3-4 days. *sigh* But at least now I know what restriction is GOING to be. I am scheduled for another fill on the 18th of this month. Yippee! And I don't care how long we fish, so long as I have my trusty Trashy Book. Darcy - I hope you are having the most fabulous time at your Quilter's Convention. I love all that crafty stuff. I just don't make the time for it very often. I haven't quilted in a very long time. So, do we get a picture of the new hair, or what? :] Kelly - slow & steady wins the race... And how cool is it that you can practise your Tai Kwon Do at work as a Stress reliever. I could any old thing after I got my first fill - but I wasn't COMPELLED to eat. Do you know what I mean? I thought it was perfect - because I could eat whatever I wanted - but if I didn't eat a lot, I didn't suffer from hunger. Eileenie - I think it was some sort of cosmic "crappy" energy in the universe this last week. I wanted to hide, too! So glad I am on my way North tomorrow. See you for lunch on Tuesday! (Or are we doing dinner? Either works for me!) Cindy - I am so glad you have some hope for a Migraine-Free future. Petrarchan Sonnets? Maybe I need to go back to school... Congrats on the size 18! I am happily jealous! Mary - HUGS!!! I wish there was more that I could do for you. It sounds like you have an awful lot going on that I wouldn't wish on anybody. I will be thinking good thoughts for you. Donna - Great Job!! Gold Stars for you for working out. Some of us (eh-hem) have been extremely negligent about getting to the gym. But, the low carb thing is working - and the scale is moving at a decent rate. Yee Haw! Hope you have/had a fab visit with the family. If they don't show the proper appreciation for your weight loss - Eileenie and I will track them down next week and kick some butt! Patty - HOORAY!! Hired at last! Glad you got some good drugs so you can breathe. Can I borrower some? I have been too busy to breathe all week! What? The drugs won't work for that? Dang! Anne - LOL! Maybe I'll exercise, too! Try low carb. It's doing that thing for me while I wait for my next little stab at heaven... How funny are you - logging in from the Fantasy Forest... Did you have fun? Raven - Hi! Welcome. Stop by any time. Ira - Our prodigal son returns... Whatcha been doing? Betty - I have missed reading about your whirlwind of activity. I hope you get more time to check in, soon. Heck, I hope I get more time... Hugs! I'll have you know that I was doing my Taxes today. YUCK! And would't you know I ow the IRS some money... GRRRRR. My company "Helps" us out by splitting our bonus checks out from our regular pay - so the taxes are lower. Now, I have to pay... I am going to have to file a new W-4 form. I owe a lot. ICK! Well, let's see... what is new. I have lost a few lbs... My lowest weight to date is 318 - but it's not about portion control or exercise right now - it's about low carb dieting. I eat almost none - as few as a human can get in the daily course of events - and I lose steadily. It's a good thing. I hop a plane for NY tomorrow - or rather, today - and I will be up North again for the next week. That means that I should be able to spend a little more time on LBT next week. Yay! Well, I have to go sleep now - or I won't have time to pack in the morning! Thank goodness that by now, I have most of my stuff in a travel-ready state at all times. All I have to do is pair some socks... and throw the stuff into a suitcase. Hugs All Round!

Obesity and marriage problems
OK - I know that I am most fortunate - but my DH has never stopped chasing me around the bed - even though I have gained as much as 145lbs since we wed. (I am down to merely 100 lbs over wedding weight now) Even when standard intercourse was nearly impossible, we managed to be intimate in other satisfying ways. And when I felt totally un-sexy and disgusted with myself, my DH told me I was sexy-beautiful, and made me believe it, too. Now that's LOVE. I concur that this is some weird control thing for him. What his intentions are, I don't know. What his feelings are for you - I don't know. But whatever the answers are, I DO know that it isn't healthy for you to have to hear him adding to your own natural insecurities. It's not bad enough that everything in society says you are a failure and not acceptable because you aren't a size six - but you have to hear it from the man that supposedly loves you? I would say that at the very least, he has no empathy or understanding of what it means to be an overweight female in the USA. There is also the possibility, he is a mean spirited jerk. Either way, it isn't good for you - and it isn't a good atmosphere to raise a child in. He has been honest with you. Now you have to take that information and deal with it. The first step is to be honest with yourself. Do you love him? Do you think he loves you? Make a list of things you like about him and a list of things you don't like. List EVERYTHING. Be BRUTALLY honest. It will help to clarify your feelings. IF the Like list outweighs the Don't Like list - maybe there is something worth fighting for. Get your counselling - and get Marriage counselling with him. If the Don't Like list is the heavier of the two - perhaps you should consider the D word... I know that it seems terrifying to face life on your own as an overweight single mother - but I assure you, it won't be as bad as waiting around for him to come home and emotionally "kick you when you are down" every day. Just remember - no matter how much excess fat you have on your belly - you are a beautiful woman with all the power that implies. If it was just about sex - you could go into any bar on Saturday Night and find somebody who is willing, Thunder Thighs or not. Marriage is about love and trust and respect. And all of those things need to flow both ways. Hugs and good luck.

This really is unbelievable.
BCBS of CA paid a sackful of money - to somebody - for my surgery. I can't imagine that BCBS of TX could really only be paying $1683... Maybe there is a decimal place error or somthing. I wouldn't panic - YET. Now, if your doc sends you a bill for thousands - THEN you can panic. Hugs!

4/03/06 - Back on Plan
Well, another exotic month has passed and my total weightloss as of today is 7 lbs since surgery. This is not an overly exciting amount - but I guess it's better than a kick in the head. :guess I took measurements again - and I am still losing around my middle. I am bummed because I haven't lost any on the thighs or arms - but I can't complain about belly & back fat loss. Still no success at getting back on plan with exercise - but today I am back on plan with low carb eating. Sunday I boiled up a big ol' pot of chicken breasts and I had a lovely chicken breast with some Caesar dressing for lunch today. Rusty has salad fixins and veggies for dipping at home. All I have to do now is make myself do it for the rest of the day - and then the rest of the week. I lost so much (16 lbs in 10 days!) pre-op doing this that I have high hopes for success. :clap2: I have read back over my previous posts - and it is pretty clear that I have lost a little enthusiasm for the whole process. I didn't even make it thru TWO DAYS of dedication, much less the two months that has been my prior standard. I am not sure if this is a good sign or a bad sign. I mean, not being able to maintain an eating plan for even two days is pretty lame - but on the other hand, my prior efforts were in vain, so maybe it's a good thing. Since I have started with a very different mind-set for a long-term approach, I am not overly worried about it. 7 lbs since Feb 6. That's just short of 2 full months. It's not quite a pound a week - but it's close. Considering that I have eaten EVERYTHING - basically like a normal person on vacation - I guess having lost anything at all is a flipping miracle. Maybe this change in my normal Diet concept means that I will have a change in outcome as well. I so want to succeed - but I seriously can't imagine being anything other than fat. I have never been anything other than - so it would be a completely new life experience. :cross-eye So, I am going low-carb to see if I can knock another 10 lbs or so off the total. It seems like I have lost weight in spurts - a big drop followed by weeks of maintenance. I think my body just needs a few days to adjust to the change. So long as the measurements keep showing progress, I am going to be happy - even if the scale says nothing has changed. Now, about that exercise..... well, one thing at a time!

April's Chat
Ahhh.. That glorious few minutes at the beginning of the month, when I can breathe and think at the same time... Howdy My Dears... I had a great weekend - a little shopping, a little gardening, a lot of quality time with my DH. We watched King Kong and ate Tacos... It was ALL good. Kelly - I am so glad the fill is working for you! Sounds like you are enjoying the benefits of the band, at last. Jana - Hi! Welcome to the Jersey thread! (I'm from Texas, myself). Tell us a little bit about yourself... And I use Carb Solutions Meal Replacement powder - a little tastier than some of the other Proteins. Safeway/Tom Thumb carries it in the store, usually. I have vanilla - cause it mixes with everything - and chocolate - cause, hey, it's chocolate! Eileenie - Chocolate is not part of the plan... Get some SF pudding! I know it isn't the same thing - but it's better than a kick in the head. I also really like the SF ice creams. Blue Bunny makes one and they are really good. 70 calories for a dessert is the way to go. Congrats on the pool... Will it be warm by April 10th? I think I have a swimsuit that fits... lol! Paula - sounds like some kind of hi-jinx at your house on Saturday! I never even thought about April Fools until the day had passed. So, does EVERYBODY hate that dog? Anne - all the BEST Moms are Realtors... :] Maybe that is why I spent my childhood in a series of homes being remodeled... I have LOTS of experience with all sorts of interesting things. Oh Yeah. Torrid Romance, Trashy Sci-fi - the whole Fantasy Genre. For me, reading is entertainment, escape. I get enough reality without having on TV or in books, too! Patty - We missed you. Glad to hear you computer is back up. Congrats on the dietician business being over. Good luck with the Psych. If they didn't lock me up - you are probably safe... LOL! And don't EVEN get me started on the Time Change. I think it is the stupidest thing ever invented by man. Cindy - I hope your head is better. COULD it be food related? Have you been taking your Vitamins and eating your Protein? And we just LOVE hearing about the science fair.... really... LOL! Dianne - I am glad you are feeling better, Hon. Club Med for the Head... Can I go? Sometimes I swear I need it. Trish - Hugs! I don't think you have failed at anything - you have just taken a little sabatical. Forgive yourself a little bit and relax. Sherry - I am so there with you. I still think I look like I did at 24... Every once in a while I sort of get a reality check. Scary! And, I wish I had been there at the fishing convention! Donna - Ah, the infamous "Lost" post... I had a few of those before I discovered "Control C" (copy) and "Control V" (paste). Now, every so often as I type, I high-light the whole thing, and hit "Control C" to copy it. That way, even if I backspace or change screens, I don't lose the post. I just hit "Control V" and keep typing where I left off. Betty - I don't know how you get through all the things you do on the weekend! Geez - just reading about it makes me tired. I hope you get a breather, soon! Well, I am going to eat some fabulous boiled chicken with Caesar dressing for lunch. I have decided that I am going to do the low-carb thing until I can get my next fill. I did so well with it Pre-Op that it seems stupid not to do it now. I have all the fixins to make my zesty dip - and DH bought veggies - so it's back on plan for me. I have been hovering between 321 & 322 on my scale for the last two weeks - which is good - but I need to keep making forward progress. Hugs All Round. If it keeps up this slow, I may be able to check in again, later. :]
-
New Yogurt that is WONDERFUL!!
Blue Bunny makes a carb count yogurt that is really good.
-
What are you not willing to give up?
FRENCH ROAST - Finely ground, brewed up DARK with real half -n- half... MMMMM. On the weekends - it's real coffee with half-n-half... I am with the "Eat real food" crowd. I can go with the LITE alternatives - but Fat Free is truly Frankenfood. (Love that word! Greatness!)
