  1. Hi everyone I have started a new group on Facebook. The group is 100% private. It is specifically for people who have had or are planning to have the Gastric Bypass surgery. If you would like to join you can search my entire name Mia Ashton LeCompte and send me a friend request and message telling me you would like to join. You may also be able to click this link to get to my profile page, because the group is so private you must be on friends list in order for me to add you to the group. https://www.facebook.com/miaashton

  3. I am in Greeley, there is a support group that I attend in Fort Collins, at Poudre Valley Hospital, but just looking for other supports as well! Thanks!
  4. Yay a December buddy! I am creating a Facebook group also if you are interested, it will be a private group that can not be found or seen without an invitation. Congrats on your December 10th date!!
  5. Hey Spring Dixie, how is everything going I noticed your last post was over a month ago. I just got my surgery date of 12/9, after waiting about 8 years also so I totally know how you feel. I was a week away from having surgery last time and was told my medicaid was no longer active. That was a big blow! I lost my job this year and instead of getting down about it I figured it was time for me to have surgery this time! So are you having surgery this month? I'm 28, 4"11 and started at 218lbs this go around. I'm going to try to add you as a friend. Also I am making a secret facebook group if you would like to be a part of it!
  6. At least you did choose beef jerky, which is a pretty healthy option! The liquid diet can be hard, so I have heard, I can not even imagine having to do that before surgery! Keep your head up, don't get down on yourself and get back on track!
  7. Hi everyone, I just wanted to say that I got a surgery date of December 9th! So excited! It still seems like a ways away but it is still set and it feels good to have a date!! So I posted in the December 2014 forum but it doesn't seem like anyone else with a December date has posted there yet?! Maybe it is still early, anyway I am really looking to keep in touch with people who are going through similar experiences as myself at similar times, so if anyone is having surgery in December say hello! Anyone else of course can say hello too!! SOO excited to be moving forward in my journey!
  8. Hi everyone I am having surgery on December 9th! Looking for some other surgery buddies. I am only 28, not technically 30, but I have been married for 9 years and have 3 kids, so I really feel like I fit into this category a little better than the 20's group because of my life experiences. I hope that is alright.
  9. Hi everyone, I am scheduled to have my surgery December 9th! Anyone else have a December surgery date??
  10. I went to my surgeons office and got a surgery date I'd December 9th! So excited but still seems so far away, 54 days! But I am seeing a light at the end of the tunnel! Anyone else having surgery in December???
  11. I went to my surgeons office yesterday and got my surgery date of December 9th! So excited it is going to be a long 54 days until then though! Anyway, looking for other people with a surgery date close to mine!
  12. I'm up north...looking for people up north also.
  13. I didn't mean I felt selfish for wanting WLS, I have been wanting it for so long and it has not worked out that I am soooo on board for having weight loss surgery. What I meant was that I felt selfish for wanting to have a riskier surgery (bypass) when I do not have any comorbid conditions. I have always just wanted the sleeve, because I thought it would be enough, but now I want the gastric bypass surgery for the reasons I list before.
  14. I live in Greeley, having surgery in Fort Collins, hopefully in Nov/Dec!
  15. Hi all I know I have seen this question before so I apologize in advance for asking the same question but I wanted some opinions in relation to my own personal situation. I know only I can decide what surgery is best for me but here is everything about me… I am 28 years old and have a BMI of 43, I'm 4'11" and about 215lbs. I have been trying to have surgery for about 3 years now. About a year ago I was a week away from having the sleeve surgery but my BMI at this time was also only 40. When my surgery got cancelled only a week before my scheduled surgery date I was devastated and gained more weight! The surgeons I see are a practice of multiple surgeons and last year the surgeon I saw pretty much told me he would do the sleeve but not bypass on me because I do not yet have any significant medical conditions, not diabetic, no high blood pressure…etc. I was alright with this decision. I am afraid that if I have the sleeve surgery and do not get results I expect I will regret not getting bypass when I had the opportunity as I am sure this opportunity to have surgery will not present itself again. I have a sweet tooth and at first that was one of the reasons I wanted sleeve, to be able to enjoy a bite of something sweet, but as I have progressed in this journey I have realized that I do not need that, and intact I may need bypass to insure I do get dumping if I were to try to eat something sweet. I also have acid reflux, at night mostly when I lay down. I have to lay on the left side. This is not every night but I would say about 4 nights a week. As I'm sure you can tell I am leaning towards bypass. However here are some other considerations. I have three children and am afraid of the greater risk of complications that can come with bypass. Sometimes I feel like I am being selfish trying to have bypass when I do not have any medical conditions yet, but I know I am only on the path to this. Last time I met with that surgeon he told me I was pretty much having surgery for a better quality of life and that the sleeve surgery could do this for me. However it has always been hard for me to lose weight, in high school I was a varsity soccer player and a cheerleader and still a size 9, I have always been a little bit bigger than everyone else, even though I am only 4'11" and I just want to be super successful and I feel like I have the best chance at that by having the bypass surgery. Thank you for your feedback, support and advice. Mia
