  1. thanks dixie! i've been researching for a couple of years off and on and my mom is banded- but i never knew the size business. i know some of it is common sense...but i'm just trying to figure everything out that i can! it's tough being banded overseas and my doctors office is no where near as informative as my mom's was with spivak. they are keeping me in the hospital for three days for crying out loud. whew! anyhow, thanks for the reply.
  2. I'm sure this information is on this site somewhere, but I'm not able to find it and I'm too tired to look anymore. I need to hit the hay! Please forgive me if I'm 're-asking' a common question. Ok-what is the deal with band size? My doctor said he is using a size 10 band- what does that mean? Is that common? How can I cross-check whether that is an appropriate size for me? Also, as we live in Malaysia- this might be a metric listing, if it's in reference to the circumference size. My current BMI is 36. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry to be an idiot. :help:
  3. i HATE that too...although, i think i may have done it back in my skinny days. you can bet i won't do it after i lose weight though. it really makes me feel awkward and upset when my microscopic friends complain about the tablespoon of fat they have. i just want to melt into myself when it happens (i have two VERY ridiculous friends who do it A LOT). very annoying. i agree.
  4. man, o man. i am a total newbie and just read this thread in one fell swoop. i now have a GIGANTIC headache. holy crap.
  5. I''ve just scheduled my surgery for January 4th. Holy cow- can't believe it. I'm new to the forum...I recently moved from the states (Louisiana & Texas) to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I'm having the surgery done here by Dr. Fahmi. I have lots more to say, but will have to do that later...must feed my children! I wanted to introduce myself and stop lurking before I logged off. :hungry:
  6. thanks...i finally figured out i could do a search on here and got some good info. via old posts that has been helpful. sorry to re-post the asia question. i see that other folks have already asked about it. still working on finding the right dr. the one i have met with has very limited experience and that freaks me out. i think i might jet over to singapore to see the dr. there that everyone talks about.
  7. Recently moved from Texas to Kuala Lumpur...have had one appointment with surgeon here who is happy to do my lap band. He's only done 15 of them and that makes me a bit nervous. He is the only surgeon I've been able to find that does them at all (I did find one who wanted me to be his FIRST!!!)... With the exception of traveling, any ideas? :help:
