  1. I am 2 weeks post off. so I don't knw what I will be able to eat. Like you I love meat - consequently when I made this decision I had to do it on a "worst case" bases -- That is I assume that one long term result would be that I would not tolerate meat. I did that because no matter how many anetodtal stories of WLS people enjoying meat, I could be the odd person where that was not true. I wanted to make the decision assuming that worst would happen
  2. How much does your nutritionist say you should be eating. I had my surgery about the same time (9/16). I have been on liquids and blended liquids. But I have no desire to eat. I don't do shakes, I am drinking liquid Protein and I eat about 2.5 to 3 tablespoon condensed ccream soup. So far it is going geat. I really think you ought to put the question to your doctor.
  3. Went in for my two weeks follow-up and I have lost 22 lbs. My doctor moved me on to soft foods (3 weeks early) yeah!
  4. I am not hungry .I get my Protein through my "water". Protein: I don't use the shake. I use Isopure liquid zero carb. each bottle contains 40gms of protein. I divide between 1/3 to 1/2 in to the 750ml camelback sipping bottle. I fill the rest of the bottle with ice and Water and a touch of steiva. I then sip on the mixture fo 2 to 3 hours. I make about 3 of those mixtures which gets my protein and my Fluid intake. Here is the link: http://www.luckyvita...CFaQ7Mgod4QMA_w My favorite is grape and orange and coconut
  5. I am about the same days post op. Here is what I do Protein: I don't use the shake. I use Isopure liquid zero carb. each bottle contains 40gms of protein. 6. At 6 months, a statistically significant reduction in bacterial overgrowth was achieved in the probiotic group with a preoperative to postoperative change of sum H2 part per million (probiotics = −32.13, controls = 0.80). Surprisingly, the probiotic group attained significantly greater percent excess weight loss than that of control group at 6 weeks (controls = 25.5%, probiotic = 29.9%) and 3 months (38.55%, 47.68%). This trend also continued but was not significant at 6 months (60.78%, 67.15%). The probiotic group had significantly higher postoperative Vitamin B12 levels than the control group. Both probiotic and control groups significantly improved their GIQoL. http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11605-009-0891-x
  7. I had gout going into the surgery. I am using "Tart Cherry" because I am allergic to traditional medicine. I will let yu know http://www.livestrong.com/article/410380-tart-cherry-juice-gout/
  8. I can only relaymy experience. I am 10 days post-op. No nausea, no vomiting, no pain medication. Taking fluids and shakes and Vitamins well. The only complication is that I have had to use oxygen when I move. Saw my PCP and he thought would be temporary - I have lost 9 lbs since surgery, 15 lbs total. I am a happy camper
  9. I know I am a distinct minority in my opinion. As a socialist, I tend not to watch the view -- definitely not liberal or radical enough. Politics aside. I I didn't fine her comments outrageous or inaccurate. The lap band IS a less efficient way to lose weight. It does have the highest resurgery - than other methods. there are reason people legitimate choose it. That siad You might want O'Donnell to put a smiley face on her critique. I don't. I spent months trying to see how people felt . I am grateful for her straight talk
  10. Saw my primary physician - he has taken me off all diabetic medication. My blood glucose has been running under 120 in the mornings and under 160 in the evenings.
  11. I started immediately and I use powder: All in One : http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B000GAQY4A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Calcium: http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B004Q1TB4A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  12. Congratulations on the success of your surgery. I had my surgery on Tuesday. You might want to try sipping instead of drinking, I regalize that I had a problem with glupping and so bought sipping Water bottle before the surgery. http://smile.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_sc_1_7?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=camelbak%20water%20bottle&sprefix=cambelb%2Caps%2C215 I bought the 20 ounce bottle and I sip one bottle over 3 to 4 hours. I also mix my water with 1/3 to 1/2 Isopoure zero carb drink (http://www.theisopurecompany.com/en/drinks) which means that I am gettiing about 40 gms of Protein. I am not hungry at all. I think it is because of the constant intake of protein. Hope that helps
  13. I am 4 days post op - doing well. no real abdominal pain; no nausea; no problems sleeping.
  14. here is a tool that I found very helpful on realistic weight loss expectation: https://www.realize.com/do-i-qualify/potential-results
  15. Are you counting the liquid that youj used in your shake?
  16. My surgery went very well. I have little abdominal pain, no nausea and no vomiting. I have had a slight headache and myoixtgen levels had been low so they kept me overnight to d a sleep iusing my CPAC to determine if I nee oxygen at night. I should be ging home today.
  17. Let's be BUddies. I am 66 years old. I want to lose aout 200 lbs. My surgerry date is Sept 16. My surgery is scheduled for 7:15am. I am having robotic. My sister is arriving from alaska today. She is going to spend the week with me. I have a couple of things I need to do - but I am generaly set. I lost 8 lbs on the presurgery diet which was not a liquid diet like many others.
  18. I have never liked Water and one of my doctors say that it is about "fluid". I drink water with stevia - sometimes I put flavoring sometimes not. My favorite - peach roobios tea (a cup) in a quarter of water with stevia. Roobios is not really a tea - but a herb and it has medcinal qualities http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rooibos.
  19. My doctor had a form that asked me all the times I had attempted to lose weight over the years. How successful were my attempts and the ultimate results. I literally just listed and dated generally (like the year) and the method. He turned that in as my statement of proof of weight loss attempt. I think that want to be sure that traditional weight loss methods won't be successful. And they are a failure if yu either didnot lose weight or you regain it back. Just make a List Date Method Use results did yor regain? How much
  20. DId the doctor say why you should slow down the fluid intake?
  21. Caroline, what time is your's on Monday. I will keep you in my thoughts. Best Wishes
  22. Karen, thank you so much for your note. I can't imagine the lost of a child and my sympathies are with you. Sounds like you are making significant progress that will eventually give you better mobility. I start having some mobilities issues this year. My son researched the surgey and called me and said that he thought I should do it. After researching it I agreed. even though he started the process before me I ended up getting everthing done and I am scheduled for the 16th he is scheduled for OCt. 20th. Speaking of Alaska where do you live? I lived in Fairbanks and Juneau for 7.5 years. My sis lives in Alaska and is coming here Monday to be here for my surgery. She lives in sterling. Best. Vernellia
  23. I am 66 and have about 200 lbs to lose. I am amazingly calm about the upcoming surgery. I am at 7:15 am have to be at the hospital at 5:00am. I am having robotic surgery. I am doing this with my son, who lives in Flordia he is scheduled for surgery in October. Some how I was able to get scheduled quicker even though he started the process before me.
