    Finding my groove

Lauren - dairy became enemy#1 for me as well... Never had issues before - but there was a period when i gave dairy up for a few months togethernw other food groups and i felt better, so perhaps i had a mild reaction to it after-all. Still. I love yogurt, kefir, cottage cheese - but now - after a half a bite my stomach hurts and clearly unhappy. So im stopping dairy for now. Mozzarella sticks on the other hand - feel very good. Learning to listen to my guts;)
  2. Hi - im w you... I am at loss at what to do - cant get through to my NUT and dont really know what i am to do. I can barely drink three cups a day of water, cant even look at protein shakes. Tomorrow is a nee day, lets try to contact our Nutritionists and figure out why things are not" clicking" for us yet abt this... Dont despair, reading this forum helps a great deal. We'll come to the right path eventually and enter Onderland;)

    Surgery Oct 20

Mimi - not much different to report here ... i am barely getting the liquids in as well - the only thing that works better - chicken broth. Somehow i can drink it w/o gagging. Idea of a protein shake - i bought premade isopure alpine punch - makes me sick... Just water is not working either. Havent tried popsicles or jello - but i cant stand the taste of artificial sweeteners and everyone says to gonfor sugar free options. I was trying to brave it and not take painkillers, but i was miserable all morning. Now i took one pill and im feeling fiiiine;) Still, cant imagine going to work on monday.... What works for you today?

Mimi, welcome home! Hope you are healing well! I got home tonight as well - total 4'days at a hospital. Weirdly, i dont recall the hard part - first 24 hrs, although i thought i wouldnt make it...nausea was horrendous. now im getting excited and hopeful. Can it be - are we really on the other side now? So grateful for this forum!

    Has anyone tried Crossfit?

I did a few intro sessions ages ago. It was incredibly difficult and intense. I loved the idea but wasnt ready physically to do it. Workout was really challenging and w little time to rest. i. would say my exercise tolerance was relatively high back then, i didnt pile all the kilos yet... How far along post op are you? You can always try and leave if it gets too intense.

Amper - Good for you! Thank you for good wishes - would be terrific to have join you and others whose recovery has been a breeze. Do you mind asking your age - im 40...i wonder if the age plays any role in recovery. Also, I didnot have to do a preop diet. Not sure if that matters either. Still feeling far from norm, but at least no more nausea as it used to be. It was painkillers - once the doc switched away from narcotics , i started to feel better.

I had mine on 20th as well. Such a miserable experience...Severe nausea for a full day and night, bp is high as well. Will stay for 4th day in a hospital. Cant imagine drinking 64onces... I put in 6 oz in an hour, and still feel it in my chest... I hear that my experience is not common one, because if it were not many ppl would go down this route.. Feeling really blue... Have been cursing myself ever since i woke up after anesthesia...

    10/20/14!

Thank you, Sweetcheeks! Best of luck to is, the 20th bunch! I am feeling a bit numb emotionally. Not as prepared as i want to be, but i think i was fearful of doing too much - what if i cant get approved? Stupid, i know. No one knows what i am about to have done - so this makes it a bit of a lonely journey. But there is no other way, as many said on this site - the new me awaits. Food will be just that, food. Exercise will be source of energy and fun. I want to be healthy and active and w/o these crippling issues for my children, for my husband, for my parents, for my friends. But first and foremost, for ME. No more eating my feelings. Off we go!!! Best of luck, October20th fellows, lets check in later and compare notes!

    October 2014

Hello! First post - scheduled for oct 17. But just got a call from the doc - a nurse left a message - smth abt the date. In limbo now. But - i am incredibly unprepared. I thought of going easy today and got a bigger breakfast than usual? I have no plan, no goal-posts... Am i alone? Anyone else in the same state of mind - we can band together? Anyone walked through this and has pointers?
