If you have approval or pretty sure you are getting it, ask the doctor to put you on a waiting list. Sometime due to health reasons or insurance reasons cancellations happen and you could be moved up. Doesn't hurt to ask Good luck!

Looking for a surgeon in Rochester New York
Just to clarify, Dr. DiBenedetto is not mean in way shape or form. In fact, he has quite a sense of humor when it is appropriate. His main concern is that the patient understand the seriousness of this procedure. He cares about his patients.

Looking for a surgeon in Rochester New York
If you need a DR to hold your hand and make you feel all warm and fuzzy all the time he is not it but if you want someone that will tell you all the facts and be matter of fact with the expectations and possible complications he is the guy.

10 Days Post Gastric Sleeve Surgery And Feeling Weak
The itching is an allergic reaction to a med. Talk with your doctor and see if there is there is another option of med. Just because you don't get a rash doesn't mean you are not allergic to it. Check with your doc.

dr omalley highland hospital rochester ny
Dr. DiBenedetto out of Rochester General Hospital is a big advocate for the sleeve if you are looking for other options. I asked him which surgery he prefers. His response was, "whichever surgery is the best for the patient in front of me".

Looking for a surgeon in Rochester New York
I am currently in the insurance approval process and my surgery is scheduled for Oct 21st with Dr. DiBenedetto out of Rochester General. He gives everything to you straight. No fluff. Very serious about his job as a surgeon and wants to see commitment out of his patient. I get the impression he is a perfectionist and to me, you could not ask for a better quality in a surgeon.

Surgery Scheduled - Praying for Insurance Approval
Lindalue, if you don't mind my asking do you have comorbids? I see that you are the same height as me and weigh a little less. I don't have any which is why I am a little nervous. I am right on the line....

Surgery Scheduled - Praying for Insurance Approval
So this is all becoming very real. I have been in the midst of appointments for the last 3 months to prepare all the necessary paperwork to meet with my surgeon today to prepare for submitting to the insurance company After completing the psych eval, nut appts, sleep study, blood work and letter of support from my doctor, I finally met with my surgeon this morning. I am scheduled for October 21st. I am excited, scared, happy, nervous and a bunch of other emotions. I am praying there are no issues with the insurance. I have BC BS Empire. I was 39.2 BMI in May when I first started this process and since i quit smoking in June (been smoking since I was 15 and am 39) I put on 10 pounds which put me at a BMI of 40.5 now. So if they just look at my current I should be good but not sure how all that works. My insurance does not require 6 months of weigh ins or supervised diet. If anyone have any advice, feedback or words of wisdom for this journey please feel free to share. My next steps are pre-op tests, upper gastro scope, Clinical nurse Specialist visit and medical clearance appt with my PCP. Fingers crossed that all goes smoothly.
