    Popcorn? Okay or Not?

Yeah, I agree with Debbie. I was told by the support team/nutritionist that nuts were very good substitutes to eat rather than chips or popcorn. Lots of nutrients in almonds. Roasted salt-free peanuts and roasted no salt sunflower seeds are both great sprinkled over salads or mixed with cottage cheese. They satisfy the chewing urge that one gets when ingesting so much whey, cottage cheese, protein drinks, and yogurt--all which require no chewing.
  2. I have experienced two bariatric surgeries: A stomach stapling with internal ring-band in 1990 and a gastric bypass in 2012. In 2012, I needed a specialist in revisional bariatric surgery to handle my case because I was suffering from a failed gastric ring bariatric surgery that took place in 1990. Testing in 2011, revealed that I was suffering from an ulcer and internal bleeding. The ring inside of me was protruding into my stomach lining and it had broken open causing a dangerous situation. I had regained all my previous weight too, 90 lbs. Fortunately, my family doctor located a specialist for me, Dr. Deveney at Oregon Health and Science University, and I was put on the fast track for a revisional operation, which ending up being a gastric bypass. Now I am 2 years post surgery and having no problems.

    Pre-Op Advice

You might want to pick up a good book on the subject. My bariatric team recommended that I read Weight Loss for Dummies and it really did answer many questions that I didn't even realize that I wanted to know. I gained a lot of confidence that way and felt more comfortable going forth with the procedure. Self hypnosis and meditation tapes borrowed from the library also helped with some last minute anxiety that I developed the week before the surgery. Good luck!

    Foamies

I don't recommend the vomiting strategy. I did it, but then my stomach got all messed up with ulcers, internal bleeding, and a broken gastric ring that was dangerous. Twenty years later and with 90 regained pounds on me, I was finally diagnosed correctly and rushed in for a revisional bariatric surgery. The only thing they could do was a gastric bypass because my stomach was a mess. Do not put yourself through all that. Stop the vomiting. Eat less and you won't feel overstuffed and uncomfortable. I've been in your shoes. I wish I had known more back then. Now, I'm a year and a half post gastric bypass surgery and I eat very small meals about 6 to 8 times a day. You have to spread the food out and drink liquids in between meals, not along with them.
