  1. i had the same thing, actually i got pain in the port sometimes when i ate. i ended up having a hernia which needed repair & when my dr was in; he noticed a small infection at the port site. a good round of antibiotics cleared it up - but i wouldn't ignore any odd symptoms. i would give your dr a call & get a scope done to check out why your having the pain.
  2. i saw that & wondered the same, looked VERY painful. i've been toying w/botox around the eyes, but haven't talked myself into it. that's all? that's great news on the job kat, home life will fall into place:) ok - i got mine from MIL @ christmas as well.....spooky LOL. wonder if kat is right that it was a return? the family is a young one w/2 kids at like the grand canyon???
  3. are you sure that's not $1200? $12k is just insane, i realize it's a procedure that requires anesthesia - but each of mine have been 20mins from sleepy time to wake up, and procedure done. my dr does recommend a yrly endoscope to check band placement, and while i was self pay - my endoscopes are covered by insurance minus my $35 hospital copay. i would check that price, if you don't have insurance that can cover this - not sure i would pay out if i wasn't experiencing problems.
  4. jachut, i like your response better. i'm just new to maintenance & am trying to strike balance w/out being too tight....i've just been way hungry lately.
  5. cause my appetite has increased over the last 2 months & i gained 5lbs that won't come off no matter that i workout w/a trainer 3 times a wk, and get an additional 2 days of cardio in. i'm fine staying the weight i am, i'm looking to maintain w/out any more gain & manage my restriction in the process. my fill was .2cc's so it was really just a tweek.....my last fill was in may of 08' & had 5 unfills afterwards.
  6. bbg - your daughter is too CUTE~! ok odd thing. we have one of those digital picture frames w/usb thumbdrive of random photos we dumped into it....well twice now it stops rolling thru our phots & a new families set of photos take over ours....the SAME family. i unplug the usb & reset....goes back to normal, kinda creepy.
  7. water has to be cool to room temperature for me. i'll take a bottled water out of the fridge, and open it up 30mins later. this was a preband thing as well.
  8. hey all - nothing since thurs, fell fri & have a hairline fracture in my right ankle. i feel good today w/my bootie & go see an orthopedic this afternoon. i still plan to workout w/my trainer tom/thurs/sat - told him to get creative. not sure i'll be doing much cardio - but we'll see. happy final days of march!
  9. bambam - i did the same thing! i like fruits & veggies too much not to have them daily - that's not to say i don't have my carbo & junk days too. i think your menu plan is great for just starting out. welcome to the thread!!! KC - i have some new recps i need to post. i watched food porn a bunch this wk (food network), and have some great ideas.
  10. more like cankle - much better though, thanks. 3 days of being off it & and 8+hrs of icing each day really kept the swelling down. got my funky bootie on this AM, not running anytime soon.
  11. thanks all, foot feeling much better today - still going to get my fill !!!! yesterday - b- banana scream protein shake w/fresh strawberries l - 2 chicken wings - skin removed s - bowl of edamae d - bowl of pasta bolegnese, glass of wine s- spoonful of bluebell vanilla bean:wink:
  12. cute! what age group is she in? sms - enjoy your family! susan - count down is on!!! nervous?
  13. i needed 8 fills in my 10cc APS band before i stopped thinking about food. i view restriction as being satisfied w/less than before for longer periods of time. never gauged my restriction on food types rather quantity.
  14. i run a small ranch w/dh & go to law school pt - i'm home a LOT. dh is also banded, and at goal for over a yr, he's the snacker more than i & likes his chips. we agree to have one bag a month in the house. other than that it's healthy foods, fruits / veggies. it's a GREAT time of year for both with spring in full force. i "try" to cook up on sundays meals for the wk - pot of lentils/chicken salad/grill up some chicken/make a fruit salad, cucumber salad/hummus/boil some eggs/sweet potato chips. i also keep a big bag of edamame in the freezer, it's great toasted & kinda curbs my chip issues. i think the biggest thing is to keep crap out of the house. when we go out, that's when i indulge more in a higher calorie meal. since you work from home - take your lunch hr and go for a walk around your neighborhood or do some other activity. i have found i am a much better w/my eating on days i've exercised.
  15. i brought this subject up w/my husband last night, he is also banded. and he said he could not come up with a reason to unfill his band unless in an emergency. this coming from a big guy (6'3 310 to start now 225) who struggled with business / diner or lunches for well over a yr. he knows to have a glass of hot tea to start, then go to a soft fish or Soup based meals. he got a lot of crap from the "guys" for eating like a chick (no one knows we're banded) he just says i'm watching my weight. then he brought up me doing lunch w/my girlfriends. how only taking a few bites is the norm vs me before, when i felt like a pig actually eating what i ordered....while my girlfriends ate like they had a band. personally, i have no vested interest in what you do w/your band. it's yours, you do with it as you want. it's a GOOD topic to talk about, i think i eat normal - i can eat any foods, have only pb'd twice in 18 months, i don't slime, i dont' have reflux - lost the weight i wanted and if i want to eat a bit more on one day, i just exercise my butt off the next to counter it. there is grey in this discussion, all are nothing is a mindset that might have contributed to weight problems in the past....balance is key. i do think you might have a different perspective 6 months from now....DH thought having an unfill for a cruise was a good idea right out of the gate - now, he likes what he sees in the mirror to mess w/the results..
  16. giggling' ; i'm holed up in our media rm w/dh flipping between golf & basketball.....i'd love a nap, beth i'm JEALOUS - not sure i know what' it's like to sleep past 8:30.
  17. well kat is a genius, my ankle is half the size it was yesterday - but i'm still icing it. thanks all for the well wishes. kat LOVE ya! * tap - that quiche sounds YUMMY, pm me the recp * susan - congrats on the 6lbs, what day is your surgery? * gone - sorry your missing the grandkids & hope your feeling better soon. this spring season is so funky 85 one day, 45 the next...DH has had the sniffle crud for 2wks. * armpit of america, growing up in NY we called that NJ. sorry an jersey folks here.. * taps again - happy bday to hubby!....guess the painkillers are working:)
  18. thanks KC. feel much better today & no ice cream:tongue: on the menu:)
  19. yesterday - b- 2 turkey sausage links, bowl of strawberries l - ice cream cone d - turkey burger w/grilled veggies s - twizzlers i fractured my foot on friday .... so DH took that to get me "treats" - i of course didn't turn them down:rolleyes:
  20. congrats mac! tap - what kind of quiche? 47 in dallas this AM & i put away coats wks ago.....FREEZING, need extra blankest!!
  21. your not the only person - there have been several threads talking about the same scenario. my only thought is many hadn't gotten their sweet spot back after having such unfills - that would be a big negative in your weightloss program, should you not be at or around goal at that time. me, i just would like the least amt of fill in place while in borderline maintenance mode & that requires a bit of tweeking over time. if your trip is next winter - you could feasibly be at goal and this a non-issue, rather just maintaining. oh & when you hit NYC (my hometown) just smell a knish for me:)
  22. kat - just sent DH down to the barn. i'll try anything, actually icing it after the hospital trip for 8hrs really helped the swelling & pain.....but i just don't have the luxury of being "out of commission". DH goes overseas on monday; so i need to be able to get around & manage the ranch some. thanks for the TIP! also - all the best on the job front!
  23. very true, i did think however that if i ate more, i was certainly getting enough exercise to counter.
  24. oh i am a klutz - and getting worse as i age it seems. i fell at the vet too, not paying attention to my surroundings and my 90lb lab wanted to get friendly w/a little kitten. he and the rest of my body fell on my ankle. re - animals, did you have a bad experience? was a cute litter of kittens at the vet yesterday....dont' get as big as dogs:)
  25. i had a small unfill in feb to go skiing. last yr while doing so, DH (also banded) had huge altitude problems and had to get an emergency unfill in CO....so i just kinda was preparing for that, as last yr i wasn't close to restriction like he was at the time. i will say, i was at my current weight - so weightloss wasn't an objective.....just preventing a possible trip to the ER like we did last yr.
