  1. Count me in. I just PMed my addy to you K@t! Thanks for starting this thread!
  2. This picture was taken yesterday April 23, 2006. Myself (Maudeispam), hubby Burt and our "little boy" Ethan James.
  3. My incisions were in the same condition as yours. I used a loofa and lightly scrubbed them with Dial antibiotic soap, rinsed throughly, dried throughly and applied an antibiotic cream and kept them covered with bandages. I changed the bandages twice daily. Now you can barely notice my scars. But as everyone else said check with your doc first. Best of luck!
  4. Has my secret pal got their gift yet? You should have by now. A Thank you would be appreciated.
  5. Just bumping this one up for newbies!
  6. My doc recommended Benefiber. I used it for quite some time, but still had problems. Then a friend suggested ground flax seed. I add it to about everything I eat, cereal, meats, everything. It seems to work well and it helps lower cholesterol and is heart healthy.
  7. Good Thread I love it! I wanted to be a singer like Olivia Newton John. I used to sing out in the yard all the time. Luckily we lived out in the country. I remember friends would come over and all I ever wanted to do was play singing. I still enjoy singing, but never got a career out of it...maybe some day! LOL!
  8. Thank you K@t in Portugal for the expresso cups and plates. What a cute set and spring design. I LOVE IT! THANK YOU!
  9. I use Country Crock Light Spread. Tastes just like the regular, but a lot better for you!
  10. I work the over night shift at work. So I normally eat breakfast at work and find I am not tight. I work 11pm to 9am. Then I usually sleep from 10:30am till 3-4pm. Then have dinner with DH around 5-6pm. Sometimes I am tight when I first get up, so we have a little later supper so I can actually eat. It must be the sleeping and laying down that makes people tight. Best of luck to you!
  11. Track your weight and BP progress @ http://www.weighttracker.info/Default.asp
  12. Here is a picture of me in July 2004, one year prior to my banding. I wore a size 30/32 shirt (3-4X), size 30 jeans on a 5' 2" frame. This second pic is 2 months after banding September 2005. Down to a size 2X, some 3X's, size 28 jeans. I will post more recent pics asap.
  13. I sent out my spring/easter gift today!
  14. I have the lovely string of pearls (PCOS) and am a slow loser. It's just not fair!
  15. DH & I just married in 2004. I am 33 and he is 36. We both want children and are patiently waiting for my weight to come off to really start trying! Best of luck to you.
  16. I use Optisource chewable vitamins. They are specially formulated for WLS patients. They are orange flavored and are available at Walgreens. No need to supplement with calcium, they have everything you need. I also take a biotin and b-12 daily for extra support. Biotin is great for your hair and nails, and b-12 boosts your metabolism. Best of luck!
  17. Have you tried refinancing it through a local bank or credit union? My hubby refinanced his truck and streched the payments out a couple more years, thus making the monthly payment smaller. Best of luck.
  18. I am 5' 1" with a large bone structure. Starting BMI was over 50. Highest weight 327 9/2004. Day of Dr. intitial visit 5/2005 315. Day of surgery 7/29/2005 294. As of today (home scale) 268 3/16/06. My goal weight is to be 140-150lbs.
  19. I have 8ccs in my VG band. I do have some restriction at this point in time.
  20. A. Less invasive than other techniques. B. Quicker recovery time. C. Cost less. D. More natural progressive weight loss than other WLS. E. Available in my home town, where as other WLS I had to travel 60+ miles one way. F. No internal organ cutting, rerouting or such. G. No huge nasty scars. 3inch is better than some WLS scars! H. LBT encouraged my decision with the before & after photos. I. Safer for future pregnancies. J. ADJUSTABLE! K. I am sure there are a ton of more reasons why I choose this road, but my mind is blank now. Best of luck with whatever choice you make. It is well worth the paperwork, hassle, testing, and weight :hat: !
  21. Forrest Gump...numerous sayings of his. "Life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what your gonna get."
  22. My turning point was not being able to find clothes that fit. I had to special order from catalogs, ebay or other online retailers or buy used clothes. I was also sick and tired of being sick and tired!
  23. Welcome to LBT. Best of luck with your journey. I also have the VG band. I have had 5 fills and am up tp 8ccs. I am finally feeling some restriction, but like yourself I have a terrible sweet tooth. My doc just prescribed 1/2 tsp. of Prozac a day in hopes to curb my cravings. I haven't noticed a difference yet, but the pharmacist said it could take 4-6 weeks to notice a change. I was banded July 29, 2005.I have lost about 57lbs total since September 2004.
