  1. Hey everyone, I am a September Sleever too. I had the Band. Just had it taken out two days ago. Can't wait to revise to the sleeve...have to do a 3 month supervised diet with my doctor's nutritionist for my insurance. I already got the clearances I need from a psychologist and therapist. I have an appointment in a week with my primary care to get a letter from him. I can't wait for September to be here!
  2. Hey All, My name is Rebecca and I am almost 29 and married from NJ. I have about 70-80 lbs to lose....I had my band for a year and just got it removed two days ago. I am doing a 3 month medically supervised diet then revising to the sleeve in September. I know I have to kick up my exercise regime once my surgery incisions heal up. I am a big fan of yoga but have found it to be hard since I have gained weight (At one point I was down to a size 8/10 but gained the weight back to a size 20). I have a gym membership but find it hard to motivate myself to go because I am very self conscious of the way I look. I need to get myself to go and walk on the treadmill or go to one of their classes and not care if people look at me. Does anyone have any advice as to how to get over the gym jitters? Thanks!
  3. I am using Dr. Strain at Englewood Hospital in Englewood, NJ. He is at a Bariatric Center of Excellence. He works with two other surgeons, Dr. Ibrahim and Dr. Morales. Dr. Morales just took out my Lap Band yesterday. She was great and Dr. Strain will be doing my Revision in September, he is great too. They also have a nutritionist right in the office (which is located on Engle St.) Their website is www.bergenlap.com
  4. Hi Everybody! My name is Rebecca and I am almost 29, married, and from NJ. I have about 70-80lbs to lose....I just got my band removed yesterday. I had it for a year and it gave me nothing but trouble...not being able to keep solids down, throwing up 2-3 times a day, only losing 15 lbs, etc. I am set to get the sleeve in September. I have to do a medically supervised diet for 3 months so my insurance will cover everything. I have already got clearances from a psychologist and a therapist so I've started taking the necessary steps for preparing for my revision in September. I am nervous about spending the next couple of months dieting since I will have no "aid" to help me and I was always a binge eater. I also know I will really need to incorporate exercise into my normal routine. I am a big fan of yoga and meditation and try to go at least 1-2X a week to the local studio. I would LOVE some friends or a buddy/mentor to talk to as I continue this journey. If anyone wants to talk, feel free to message me or email me at rebeccaabrooks86@hotmail.com
  5. Hey All- Just got my Band out yesterday. Had it for a year and it gave me nothing but trouble. Will be revising to the sleeve in September. I need to do a 3 month medically supervised weight loss program with a nutritionist for my insurance. I've already got two of my medical clearances (from the psychologist and a therapist) for the sleeve so I am ahead of the game. Just in a good deal of pain right now from the band removal. I am almost 29, married, and from NJ. I have about 70 lbs to lose. I am nervous about the next 3 months as I can already feel my pre-surgical hunger raising its ugly head. I know I will have to give exercising a fair go. I'd love a buddy or mentor who has gone or who is going through the same thing!!!! Hope to hear from you soon!!!

  10. Hi- Wondering if you are still on BP. I currently have the band and have had tremendous trouble with it and am having it removed in two days. I will then be on an insurance mandated 3 month supervised diet and will have my sleeve surgery at the end of September. I am looking for a buddy for support with the sleeve process. I need help with only eating small portions and exercising on a daily basis! I have lost 100 pounds before (I weigh 230) but regained the weight. I am almost 29, married, and from NJ. Hope to hear from you!!! Rebecca
  11. Hi Everyone! I was banded in 8/14...lost 35 lbs and gained 20 back. I am on a medication for depression which I struggle with that causes excessive weight gain which has been hindering my progress with the band. I currently weigh 230 lbs. My goal is to get under 200 while being on my medication. Am ready to get back on track and log daily on My Fitness Pal and exercise 3-4 times weekly. I am looking for someone to talk to who can help be a support or who also logs on MFP. Hope to hear from you soon ~Rebecca
  12. I went to Dr. Lee in NJ. Drove 2 hours. He was very good.
  13. Since posting I decided to keep my band and not go through with the surgeries
  14. Still in Onederland baby! And don't forget about a thing called WATERWEIGHT!!!!
  15. I am now using Dr Lee in Mt Laurel.
  16. I was just curious what works for other people. I know some people don't even need to get a fill, which I think is amazing. Just thought we could all start a convo about it.
  17. I have the Realize Band and am happy with it. My stomach was sewn and stitched up and around it to avoid slippage. I had 8CCs in it (it holds 10) but was brought back down to 4 because I was in the red. Am working on getting my portion sizes right and incorporating exercise. Averaging .5-1 lbs a week weight loss. I'm on the slow side because I hadn't been eating right and not exercising. Not the bands fault. I've recently kick started my diet back up and am looking to lose 20 lbs in the next 2 months. I have 40 to lose to get to goal. Good luck with your decision!
  18. Wondering what amount got people to green? I was at 8 CCs of a 10 CC band which was way too tight and took me to the red and was brought back down to 4CCs. Now I get stuck occasionally but can eat. I'm seeing a nutritionist to set up a consistent eating plan and working on portion size. Hoping at some point to go back to 5 or 6 CCs but happy right now at 4. What works for you?
  19. I was at 8 CCs of a 10 CC band but it was too tight and caused me too throw up a lot which escalated my bulimia. I was brought back down over time to 4 CCs. Once I get more comfortable just eating until satiated I may go to a local lap band fill center and ask for another CC or Two which I think would bring me to green. I am really forcing past being stuck and eating till I'm sick. Sometimes I purge and then return to eating. I know I have restriction. So I need to learn to work with instead of against the band. I intend to keep it and overcome this. I have been doing good the past two days, especially journaling my intake and trying to stick with a healthy meal plan.
  20. So I'm coming clean that I have an eating disorder. For the past two or three months I have been binging and purging. I had a history of Bulimia 6 years ago during which I lost 100 lbs. I was not honest with my surgeon about it and was going to revise to the sleeve on 4/21. I made an appointment and came clean to him and he cancelled my surgery and is refusing to treat me. I have only lost 15 lbs with the band because I have been overeating and generally eating unhealthy. I spent the night in the hospital last week for these issues and its led to me getting help. I started seeing an Eating Disorder Therapist and I have been referred to a day program for Eating Disorders that meets 5 days a week. I am also going to start Over Eaters Anonymous. Right now I am trying not to focus on my calories but eating small band appropriate meals. I am hoping to implement a good exercise routine as well. I hope I am now on the path to a new healthy life and can now get good use out of this tool. Just felt the need to come clean.
  21. 226 lbs, last week 227. Loss of 1 lb.
  22. 219.8, 227, 224.2....Having my band/port removed on 2/24 and sleeve on 4/21!
  23. For me the mental aspect of food mostly is like I use good to hide my emotions and I need to find a healthier way to let my emotions out!
  24. Your story sounds exactly the same as mine. I'm getting my band/port out on February 24th and sleeve 6 weeks later on April 21st to allow time for scar tissue to heal.
