  2. Today was my first event that involved food. It was tough. Child's birthday party with a full delicious looking meal topped with cake. But I did it. I knew how sick I would be if I did eat any of it. It's also great having a very supportive husband saying you have to wait till you see your doctor yo be cleared for the next step. Thank god for him or I may have caved a little!

  4. My mom had the gastric bypass 10 years ago and still can't throw up. It's really weird. As bad as she feels at times she can't. Even having the stomach bug she can't.
  5. So I'm sitting here trying to stay on my liquid diet. I drank my protein shake and sipping my water. And my stomach is still growling. It just wants something different. I'm starving. Not as hungry as I was in the pre op 5 day liquid only diet but close.
  6. I'm learning quickly from this app that many doctors all over the world have different eating rules. I'm reading about people having surgery the same day(July 24) as me eating bacon crackers. I couldn't imagine what my stomach would do with that. For me it's baby steps. Fear a perforated stomach. Don't want that. They say it's painful and dangerous.
  7. It is crazy because I was told not to drink through a straw also. Builds to much gas.

  9. According to my paperwork it takes 4-6 weeks before I can even start soft real food. So I'm thinking purée is going to be atleast a 2 week process. I just want different flavones of things. Protein drinks are getting old fast. Lol

  11. I am 10 days out and today the protein drinks just aren't holding me over. My stomach is growling. I want scrambled eggs so bad. My doctors appt is tomorrow when most likely I will be released for purées. Am I bad if I start eating them tonight?
  12. I was told no carbonation ever again and no alcohol for a year.
  13. I'll be 1 1/2 weeks out when I see my doctor tomorrow. I'm hoping he will say I can start purée foods. After discharge from hospital I was on clear liquids only for 5 days then add protein drinks. Still waiting for the ok for purée! Can't wait!
  14. I was sleeved on the 24th of July. I walked and walked any chance I could. Made me feel better and pleased the hosp staff. lol Also helped with getting discharged. As of yesterday I am down 9 pounds in a week. Gas laundry will get better each day. It's totally worth it in the long run. Good luck!

  16. Prior to my surgery only a few people knew about it. I was nervous of their comments and didn't want to hear any negativity. I was worried about telling them out of embarrassment to. The night before Facebook I put it out on Facebook for all my friends and family to see. The comments I received ensured me I was doing the right thing. I received private messages from people asking for details afterwards because they were thinking of doing the same thing. I was such a relief to not be holding my very own personal secret anymore!!
  17. As of today I am 9 pounds and 6 days out. My only struggle is getting all the fluids. Yesterday I had doctors appt and I was at the beginning stages if dehydration. I didn't know. My heart rate was 125 sitting in the doctors chair. He called my surgeon and they said dehydration. Doing much better today. Even walked almost a mike with my 3 kids!
  18. My mother is ten years out in gastric bypass. She was 280 and is maintaining 150. She drinks diet Pepsi daily. She was smaller before she started drinking it so she did gain some weight from it. She currently stopped drinking it and lost 7 pounds in a week. She was drinking atleast. 4-5 cans a day.
  19. I had the sleeve on July 24th. Came home today on clear liquids for 3 more days then I add my protein drinks into diet till I see my doctor on aug 4 to discuss purée foods. Weighed myself prior to leaving hosp and was up 2 pounds from Thursday morning. Nurse agreed that intend all the fluids I received during my stay and gas. Lol. I also had hiatal hernia repair done and I gotta day I think that hurts more than the other right now. Feel every sip of everything going down. Including meds (liquids).
  20. I just had my sleeve surgery Thursday the 24th. Drinking broth and water. Can't have protien drinks till Wednesday.
