  1. Let's just say today has ben an eye opening day....Went to the Dr this morning for a fill. Her scales tell you % of fat, muscle, etc. Well, I was up 7 pounds since my last visit. I've been running like crazy so most of that must be muscle. Right?? Wrong. It was fat. Yes, all 7 pounds. How do you run like I have and gain so much fat? That is exactly what I asked the Dr. I love my Dr. She is so honest yet not judgmental. She basically told me that it's my diet. Not rocket science, but I needed to hear it. I have been playing the "I ran 5 miles today, surely a hot creme brulee won't hurt" game. Well, it hurts. You just have to keep making healthy choses no matter how tired of it you become. Hopefully some day it will become second nature, but if it doesn't so be it, I still must do it. She gave me a fill of 0.5cc, which is a lot at this point. I now have 9.1cc in my 10cc band. So, I leave the Dr office with this new lease on life. REady to go. It's lunch time and I never follow the liquids for 24 hours after a fill rule. I haven't had much restriction in so long I just eat normally. We went to the chinese food place for Soup and an egg roll (what is wrong with this picture). Well, I ate 1/2 cup soup and 1/3 of an egg roll, pb'd 3 times and left to come home. So, here's what i learned. 1. Restriction is such an awesome tool, and one that i will probably always need. I forgot what it feels like to really have restriction. I am not hungry. I hope this lasts. 2. Exercise is not an open door for poor food choices. The two must happily coexist to make this thing work. 3. It is ok to be human. It is ok to fall off the wagon. However, I must acknowledge it and move on. The reality of this whole deal knocked me in the face today. Weight loss is not the hard part. Maintaining it is. I am not at the maintenance point yet, but it is very clear to me now that even with the lap band I can slowly creep back up to morbidly obese if I don't use my tool and make good choices. Sorry to have rambled. I needed to get al of this out. Yall are the best. Get ready to watch my ticker start to drop. BTW, I am having a small revision of my tt on Monday. Not a big deal. Just a little pooch that the dr wants to correct. Fun Fun!!
  2. I didn't run today and my knee feels much better tonight. I did the 10 miles in 2 seperate runs and much slower than normal, but I really think it was too much. I am hoping to run tomorrow. I will at least walk. I don't think I am injured, I just think I over did it. I go to the Dr for a fill in the morning so I will talk to her about it too.
  3. I did 10 miles today. I walked a lot of it because DS was with me the 2nd half. I checked tonight and Whosya did another 6 mile run, so I am far behind again. My left knee is hurting tonight. I SOOOO hope it is ok. I have never had knee pain before.. Yuck!! We'll see how it feels in the morning. Georgia, I would definately get your ankle checked on. It should be feeling much better by now. Even if the treatment doesn't change, you will feel better knowing what is going on.
  4. All of you runners, I have a question. I ran/walked 10 miles today (2 seperate runs). Behind my left knee is hurting tonight. I have run more in the last 2 weeks than ever and I know my joints are tired, but how do I know if I have injured myself. I don't want to rest it. Should I push through and run or should I walk for a few days. It doesn't feel like muscle pain and is not Super painful. Just VERY annoying. I haven't tried to run on it since it started hurting so I don't know if that makes it worse or not. I didn't injure it that I am aware of. What do yall think. I just run. I realy don't have any idea what I am doing. I just know I have 1 more week in the Nike+ challenge and want to finish strong.
  5. i'm staying on plan because I choose to...
  6. Ok, took a few days off, but now Whosya is kicking my butt on the challenge, so I am back at it. Today - 5.5 mile run/walk this morning. Hope to go out and run again the afternoon. Luluc - get better real soon!! I have though about renting 'Run Fat Boy Run' but didn't know if it would be jsut too stupid. Maybe I will pick it up!! I'm in the mood for a really silly movie.
  7. Sorry I have ben MIA. Suddenly life has become crazy busy. It's funny how that always happens and sends me into nothing mode. Well, my run/walk this morning was my decision not to go back to nothing mode. What have I been up to??? Well, I have a sick 2 year old. Dylan is snotty, running fever, and wheezing. His chest is REALLY congested. Not sleeping much and wearing this mommy out. Poor little guy. I am pretty sure he has RSV (we've done this before). We went to the doctor on Friday, but our doc was out. The DR we saw said it looked like a cold. Well, he is much sicker now, so I imagine we will go back tomorrow. On the homefront, Kathy you crack me up!!! Actually, there is not public water to our little home in the woods, but after $11,400 we will have a 500ft well and all of the pure, clean water we can stand. I LOVE WELL WATER!! We will have internet. We are going to go through our cell phone provider and our signal is good out there, so I think we will be fine. We close at the bank on Wednesday. Then the work can begin. We are going from 3000ft living area to 1180 ft, so I have got to start packing and downsizing. I am really excited to thin out the junk here. Not just physically, but we are choosing a much more quiet, simple lifestyle. It is going to be so good for our son who thrives in this gimme society. He and I have been watching a lot of Little House on the Prairie. We won't have a prairie, but you get the picture. I can't wait. I am going to the doctor on Tuesday for a fill. I have pretty much no restriction and am eating way too much. I am looking forward to sinching my band up and getting this thing done!! I hope to run again today(at least a long walk with Dalton). We'll see. "Aunt Flo" came to visit today so I am kinda in a mood, however, we only have one week left of the challenge and I have got to get off my butt and kick some Whosya butt. BTW, thanks for the invite to the new challenge Whosya. These challenges are such great motivation. You guys are the best!!
  8. BTW, Looks lie Whosya took a day off too!! WooHOO! However, Salsa didn't. I better get my butt back in gear!
  9. We don't actually plan to start building for about 5 years. we plan to do it in phases. We bought the land about 2 years ago. We paid on it unil the equity in the land is enough to do the improvements without more money down. Now we will pay on it somemore and use the equity to build. The improvements to the land also add to its value. The land is in the middle of nowhere, so we will have to put in a well for water, etc. That is what we are working on now. Then all we have to do is the house. The improvements on the land will all be done. The cool thin is that moving out there will decrease what we are paying in rent by 1/2 so we will be able to save. The trailer house is goign to be really small, but it will be worth it! We are excited.
  10. Well, I didn't run today. This evening around 4 I was walking out the door with DS to go for a run/walk and DH called to say he was coming home for an hour between work and teaching college, so I didn't go run then. Once he left it was cold and getting dark so we didn't go to the track. I just couldn't muster up enough that late to run on my blasted treadmill. Now, when Whosya posts I might make myself run, but I'm thinking maybe 2 runs tomorrow. Who knows. Maybe Whosya will take the night off. Something tells me he won't, but i can only hope. Anyway, I haven't told you guys but we are getting ready to move. We have 48 acres of land and we are getting water, septic, etc to the land and then will be putting a very small trailer house out there to live in untilwe build. Hoping to close on the land improvements in the next couple of weeks. I dread moving, but I can't wait to get out on our land. That is where we hunt and go ride 4 wheelers. We plan to get a horse and chickens and rabbits, etc. A mini farm. I can't wait. DH even promised he would help me plant a garden. YUMMY!!
  11. Don't start back too soon. There will be other challenges. Just focus on gettin better. I'm glad it is healing!!
  12. I'm staying on plan today because I want to lose these last stubborn pounds!!
  13. Today-6 mile run/walk. Mostly run. Time: 1hr 4 min
  14. I'm staying on plan today because it's the only thing that REALLY works!!
  15. Today-5 mile run/walk. I ran the first 5k and then did intervals for the rest.
  16. Ok, I ran...5 miles. I ran the first 5k without stopping. I was pretty proud of that. My body thanks me for the 2 days off. Kathy, I think i will take your 4 days on 1 day off approach, if it doesn't make me fall behind Whosya. Everyone have a great week!! we are 1/3 through the challenge. Things will really start to heat up now!! LOL
  17. Yeah, I haven't run since Saturday. I was hoping to sluff off today as well, but it appears i will be getting my tail on the treadmill. I know if I let him get ahead at all he will be kickin m butt within days. I don't know if all of you know Salsa, but she is my running hero and the reason I began running to start with. You will notice that she has joined our challenge. OH DEAR!! She is one awesome runner. My hopes of any chance of winning this challenge are most likely shot, but i am so glad she is running with us. My number 1 goal is still to beat ya Whosya!!! LOL I am really going to have to keep going strong to have a chance at that either. I am wanting to slip back into nothing mode after my weigh in, but the challenge won't let me! WooHoo!!
  18. That's great news Georgia!! Keep getting better!! I weighed this morning and i have lost 1 measly pound in the last week. I am sure I have gained muscle with all the running I have been doing, but man I want to see the scales drop!!
  19. I ran 2 miles yesterday and rested today. In all I ran/walked 40 miles in the past week. My body was screaming for a break today so I gave in.
  20. Love the blue jan pics, and your arms look great. I found a pair of old jeans the other day and I could fit both legs in one leg of them. What a cool feeling.
  21. I managed to run a couple of miles today, but I must say, my body is totally exhausted. I am hoping to be able to do a complete run tomorrow, but it just wasn't happening today. Georgia, I hope your ankle feels lots better soon.
  22. Oh, Bless your heart!! Take it easy. Elevate it and keep ice on it!! I hope you get to feeling better real soon!!
  23. I am so sorry that I am jsut now responding. I am doing great. I kida fell off the wagon after my surgery. I found it VERY difficult to get back into any kind of exercise or eating plan. TO be honest, it was very scary to me. I am so happy with my flat tummy, and learning to love my body I lost the motivation to continue to improve upon it and work to get to goal. My weight inched up almost 10 pounds and I truly felt out of control. Well, I seem to be back at it. I have started running again. I have runwalked 30 miles this week. I am again watching what I eat. It is so hard to find a healthy balance. I must except that I will never be able to do nothing and maintain what I have worked so hard to achieve. Even with a flat tummy I still must work very hard to maintain. BUT.....that's ok. I would rather work to keep improving my body than to EVER go back to where I have been. So, today I am thankful for choices and thankful that somehow I have gotten my head screwed back on. THis truly is a process, and I still have a long way to go. The end of January will be 3 months out. I will plan to take some new pics and post them then. I am really very happy with my PS. Shalee, So glad to see that you are doing better and finally starting to see some improvement on wour wound. What a long journey this has been for you. I wish you lots of fast healing for the new year!!
  24. Yesterday - Ran 8 miles
  25. Way to go Georgia. DH and I are going to see Fireproof tonight. I am so excited. He was working 7 days straight when it was showing, but there is a theater closeby that is doing a second showing of it because local chrches have requested. We are going tonight. We have been out all day. I am not sure when I will get a run in, but I still hope to.
