Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
Georgia, Hope your ankle is feeling better real soon. I'm really glad you are listening to your body and not pushing yourself to a more serious injury. Whosya, That is awesome about your daughter. You must feel very good about the changes you have made and how they have affected your family. You GO!!! Bonnie, I completely agree with you about your son. I was a very thin kid. I ate and ate and ate, but I was very active. My weight gain started at the end of high school when I was no longer in sports, etc. I slowed down and the trouble began. I want to teach my kids good eating habits so the same thing soesn't happen to them. My son is very thin, and gets frustrated at times because I make him eat "healhty" food. He will say "But mom, I am healthy, so I can drink a coke".. Well, healthy is not a weight, it's a lifestyle. I don't believe little kids should "diet", but I do think America as a whole is do a poor job of educating our children on health and nutrition. Ok, soapbox over. Bonnie, I thnk you are right on!!

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
I just finished day 4, week 4. It was still very hard. I don't know if I'm going to move on to week 5 on Monday. I may need to repeat week 4. I really don't want to, but week for was everybit as hard today as it was the first day. That second 5 minute running interval is SO hard. I don't know, I guess I have the weekend to decide. I do like running earlier in the day much better than trying to run at bedtime!!

Leslie, There is just no way around it, DH are jsut boneheads sometimes (sorry Whosya). I don't think most intend to be, but they are just clueless at times. ia m with you Georgia, it scares me sometimes when DH opens his mouth in public. You just never know what is going to come out!! He is the most awesome man though, and very supportive. After he say that I was really putting effort into this running thing, he went and bought me a treadmill so I wouldn't have to get all the kids out to go to the gym. That really meant a lot. Having said that, I cartainly understand why you are pissed. I would be too. You have every right to feel the way you do!! I can't wait until you and Georgia cross the finish line at that 5k!! I wish I could be there to watch. Ask your DH if he will take a picture of yall crossing the finishline for me!! BTW, I have only run 1 5k and I was only a couple of weeks into the couch to 5k (this was in May). I didn't run the whole thing. I walked and ran, but, let me tell you, I can't put into words the sense of accomplishment that I felt when I deliriously crossed the finishilne. I have started but not finished so many things in my life (especially related to health and obesity), but not this time!! So....even if you walk part of it (and I don't think you will) run the 5k! DH was standing at the finishline when I got there. He was all smiles, and your DH will be too!! Hang in there!!

Don't we have some cute little kiddos in our crew. I will post one of Dalton when I get home. The one I posted is Dylan. I can't post my foster kids because of privacy. That is why I haven't created a family album in my profile. It just wouldn't be a complete album without all of my kiddos. Gotta get ready to go. I'll post more tonight. TTFN!!

OK, I can't resist. After talking about adoption so much, I have to introduce yall to my little Dylan. This is a picture of us DH took a couple of weeks ago. His face says it all. He is our ham...our comic relief. Our son, Dalton, had been praying for a brother or sister since he was 2. He says that God saw Dylan in a bad place and reached down from heaven and put in in mama's lap. what a wonderful way to look at it. Ok, this is the end of my sap for today. I have got to finish cleaning house!!

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
Today my 2 and 4 year old are at mother's day out. Kathy, serenity is a wonderful word for it, and what a beautiful middle name. My 9 month old and 19 month old are watching a Praise Baby DVD and my 9 year old and I are cleaning house. I know that doesn't sound like a lot of fun, but I'm sure Kathy can relate. The quiet and time to get housework done is well.....serenity... I only have 1 1/2 hours left. I better get with it. We are going to a foster parent appreciation dinner tonight. Our agency does this once a year. Very nice. Just me and DH. We do something by ourselves once a week. It is really helpful in staying connected. He is awesome.

DH is also adopted. He and our adopted kids will always have a special bond as well. Thanks for sharing your experience. We have planned for our kids to always know they are adopted. It just seems that honesty is the best choice. Everything in the light.

That is too funny about the names. Dylan's name is Dylan Wade. His name was Adrian Wayne. Our foster baby is going to be Drew Weston. Our 9 year old son is Dalton Wyatt. So... We have Dalton, Dylan and Drew. My Three Sons.

Sugarbean, I also have PCOS. We did lots of fertility tx. (I guess lots is realtive) In the big picture I guess we didn't do all that much. When we quit treatments I got pregnant. He is 9, and is absolutely awesome!! Have never gotten pregnant since. We don't prevent it, but no more treatments either. I am very content with my family. I have probably not ever been able to say that in my adult life. God is good, and has blessed me abundantly!!

kathy, I went ot your sight awhile back. Your children are beautiful. Your dedication to them is obvious. We are just starting to really experience some of the challenges of a special needs child. Our 9 month old is delayed developmentaly, but thankfully he doesn't have any additional medical problems. I am very glad for that. Our 19 month old was cocaine exposed. For some reason child protective allowed his mom to take him home from the hospital. His mom was positive for cocaine when he was born. He lived with his mom and her pimp (for lack of a better term) for his first 2 months. When we got him he had tremmors in his legs and cried ALL THE TIME!! He couldn't handle lights, loud noises, or even much eye contact. He woke up screaming about every hour and a half during the night. This went on for about 3 months. Then he started catching up. At his last Dr visit he is on target for his age. I really thought he would be our "special needs" child. He is at risk for challenges later, but I am amazed at the progress he has made in a very short time. We were not foster parents when he came to live with us. It is really crazy, but I got a call one night asking us to care for him. We went through CPS, but we have contact with his birthmom. She is in jail right now, and writes letters. When she is not high she will pop in to see him. She is an addict. It is really sad. I will always speak highly of her to Dylan. She voluntarily relinquished her rights for us to adopt him. As I told her, she loved him enough to give him a home and a brighter future. She knows she can't care for him. I am very thankful to her for giving him a happy ending.. Ok, there is more sap for you Leslie. I love hearing everyone's life stories. It seems there is always a way to make a connection.

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
We have 3 foster kids. They are 9 months, 2 and 4. We also adopted a little boy who is now 19 months old. His name is Dylan. He came to live with us when he was 2 months old. I can't imagine life without him. Our 9 month old (We are changing his name to Drew) is prescious as well. We have started the process to adopt him. We have mediation on Aug 1st and then the termination hearing on Sep 11. His situation is very sad. His parents are mentally retarded and would love to have him, but just lack the ability to care for him. It is very, very sad. He has developmental delays as well. He gets all kinds of therapies. I have never seen a happier more laid back baby. His smile lights up the room. We never planned to foster/adopt special needs children, but he grabbed our hearts, and we love him VERY much!! We also have a 9 year old son biologically. He loves our new kiddos.. We don't know what will happen to our 2 and 4 year olds, but hope they will stay too. That's my sappy family story. I could brag about my kids all day!!

Low Carb Banders Unite
Hey guys, You are all doing so well. Since I started adding back some carbs I am definately adding back some cravings too. I am hoping this will get better. My weight has fluctuated, even up to 180 one morning. Wow, that is 7 pounds up. Today I am 1 pound above my ticker weight. Hopefully my body has adjusted to this change and the scales will start dropping again. I am going to give it a couple more weeks. If I don't start losing then it's strict low carb again for me, but I really hope my body adjusts and I can continue to eat some healthy carbs. Here's what I had yesterday B - South beach Energy mix (nuts) L - 3oz steak, potatoe with a little sour cream buter and cheese D - Spaghetti made with venison, whole wheat noodles and no added sugar sauce. S - Banana Smoothie (about 1/4 cup. It didn't want to stay down)

Mamato, DH is really funny about hair. Long and straight. I have threatened to cut it. He won't tell me not to, but I just know how much he likes it. I'll leave it for him for now!

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
Ok, I did it!! today was the hardest one yet for me. Kathy, I don't like running at night either. By this time I am all out of mojo. I am especially exhausted today. Yesterday, we took our foster baby to Dallas to the doctor. Felt like we drove all day. Today my foster kids (all 3 of them) had visits with their parents. Another day of driving. i also had another appointment for the baby today. Anyway, I felt totally depleted before i started. I feel even more depleted now. Usually my run energizes me. So....God gives us an extra pound lost for days like today when we run anyway, right??? LOL Ok, that's all of my whining... I have decided (I know I'm very stubborn) that I am not going to run everyday. I am going to run every other day and do at least 1hr on the Wii on the opposite day. This way I will be active everyday, but not deplete my energy. I really do feel like I am running on fumes. I need to slow down a bit so my body doesn't do it for me...I love this couch to 5k. I don't want to burn out!! So Kathy, if I get a wild hair again that I am going to push myself to my limits and do anything as crazy as running everyday, you have my permission to quote this post and let me have it!!

Kathy, I love the Wii. Doesn't seem to get my heartrate up, but it is active and it is very fun. Problem is, I want to play on it instead of run. I sooooo don't want to run tonight, but I am fixing to put on my big girl panties and do it. YUCK YUCK YUCK!! i know I will be so glad when I do and will enjoy it. So, here I go.

Leslie, You are too funny. I am strange, but I have always liked being just a little sore from exercise. it means I'm doing something. I did not run yesterday. We got a Wii Fit, so I did an hour on it. Today we will be out all dy, so I won't run until this evening. Have a great day everyone!!!

Wii Fit
I bought a Wii Fit today, so I am joining your crew!! I love it. Not thrilled that my Wii turned pudgy on me. That was really sad, but I guess I can watch her get slim and trim. Give me the scoop... Any secrets to really good Wii Workouts.

Gummy Vitamins
I have 8.?? in a 10cc band and I just started using gummy vitamins. I LOVE them. I have never been able to make myself take vitamins, but these are good. I just got a small bottle at our local grocery store, but I will be getting a big bottle. They ROCK!!

Unless I can't hear it either, I don't think the week 3 podrunner follows that. I got the cool down tones after the walking as well, shich I thought strange. That's why I ended up running the cooldown. Where did you find the list. I am just pleasantly or unpleasantly surprised with the length of each run..........

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
Way to go Leslie and Georgia. I have noticed that what I eat plays a MAJOR role in how my run goes. Since adding some good carbs I fell so much better. I just hope I continue to lose pounds too. Today I ate oatmeal before I ran. It was hard, but I am really starting to enjoy it. Whosya, Thanks so much. A guy (except DH of course) hasn't called me cute since I don't know when. When I read your post I hollered to DH, "Hey, this guy on lapbandtalk says I'm cute". He said, "Well yeah, because you are". Awwwwwww. Anyway, you are OUR expert. No pressure. You have lead the way. We really do trust your insight and opinions. I just might have to run everyday though. I am really loving it. Maybe I will add biking so I'm not running EVERYDAY. I have a stationary bike collecting dust.
