  1. Mamato - Sending you lots of positive thoughts!!!!! You can do it!!! Georgia - Glad your knee is better this morning. Maybe after resting it for a couple of days you will be good to go!! I am fixing to weigh for the last time in a month. That seems like SUCH a long time!!
  2. Ok, works for me. Tommorow morning it is!!
  3. I go to the doctor one day next week. Not sure what day. Kathy, can we start this challenge the day following my dr appointment so it will actually be a whole month???? I am going to have DH hide my scales so that I won't know where they are. I shouldn't be able to cave that way!!
  4. You are too funny Lyn. I think I am going to take DH up on his offer. I am waiting to see waht the prize is.) I told him that this is a big deal, so he better make it worthwhile. We'll see what he comes up with.
  5. I have never had a knee injury Georgia. All I know is what Sugar said re: ice and heat. Hope it gets better real soon. I did my jillian micheal dvd today. I am adding this to my running. It is a set of 5 dvd's. you do one each day except Wed and Sat. These are the rest days. DH has challenged me to let him hide the scales for 1 month. He said that he would love to see me follow my eating plan, run, and do my Jillian DVD's for 1 month without regard to the scales. He thinks the dvd's will make me gain muscle and I think he is afraid I will become discouraged. He is supposed to be thinking of a reward for me if I do this. He tries to be sooo very supportive. I am soooooo addicted to weighing. This will be really hard. I think I am going to weigh in the morning and then give it a go!! Oh my!!
  6. I'm staying on plan today because I am ready to get down to goal and focus on life and not weight loss.
  7. Mamato, Give yourself a BIG break. Giong from 8 minutes to 20 is a HUGE jump!!! Somewhat insane actually. You ran for 12 minutes straight. Think about that. How long could you run 5 weeks ago. You are doing amazing. I would suggest that you take the day off and then repeat the 20 minute run. Run as far as you can and then walk. Don't beat yourself up. Take it slow, and gradually increase it. You should be very proud!!! I am very proud of you!! Keep getting back on that treadmill!!!
  8. What a cool day Luluc. What a difference in sizes. those old clothes must have been falling off of you!! YOU GO GIRL!!
  9. Most of the people on this thread have had lapband surgery, therefore, reducing the voume of food most of us eat. Having said that, 700 calories is not enough. At my most recent Dr visit I had lost 3 pounds of muscle, therefore, I have increased my calories to between 1000 and 1100. I am working up to 1200 call/day and increasing my activity. Of the 81 pounds I have lost this is the first time I have lost any muscle, so my caloric intake was ok for my body until now. I have started running, so I need the extra calories to support that activity. 1200 is a good number for women as far as intake, but if I have learned anything since being banded, it is that everybody is so different, and what works for one may not at all for someone else. Looks like you are doing great with your bugg. Keep it up! I have not posted numbers lately, but I try to take in 1000 calories and have a deficit of 1500 daily.
  10. Bonnie, Of course you are always welcome here!!!!! We would miss you very much if you weren't here. You are right, this is a wonderful group we have here. Georgia and I have tried several times to get some accountability groups started, and I think this is one of the best!!! I hope we continue to keep it going after we are all up and running our 5k's. It will be sooner than we think!! I did week 6 day 1 today. I expected it to be pretty easy after running 20 minutes on Friday. WRONG!! It was really hard to run today. I don't know if there was less momentum or what. I kinda liked the one running segment. I think it's hard to slow down and speed up. It seems to mess with my momentum. However, I think we burn more fat with the interval running. Either way I am really starting to like running!! Georgia, I cleaned out my box so PM away my friend!!
  11. Leslie, You are gaining muscle!! That is great!! I'm sure it's from all that running. The muscle will help your body to burn more fat. I haven't lost much since starting running either. I am counting on it being muscle, and boy am I ready for that muscle to melt some fat away!! Just keep running!! yOu are doing great!!
  12. I am really looking forward to having a tummy tuck. I think I would look pretty thin now if it werent' for the "flap on my lap". At 150 we will begin looking into in much more closely. DH is completely on board. I don't think it matters at all how fast you run. Just runing in key!! Everyone is doing SOO well!!!! Mamato, Where are you??????
  13. Way to go Georgia. Most of the people at the gym are as self conscious as you are. Good for you for not letting anything stop your run today. I am going to start week 6 day 1 tommorow. I am looking forward to running again. I can't believe I am starting to like this.
  14. I also put deoderant under my flap and places that seem to hold moisture when I sweet with exercise. This seems to prevent that aweful rash.
  15. Jaymie, that is an awesome nsv. Way to go!!!!!
  16. Way to go Leslie and Georgia. Yall are making me feel like a slacker. I am going to have to start looking for 5k's around here. Leslie, Hang in there!! DH will probably come around. If not, you are exercising for you, and doing quite awesome at it. I know it would be fun to do it together, but try not to let him get you down!! you are doing so well!!!
  17. I was telling DH this story tonight and DS corrected me, He said that I am 81.1% toward being hot. HE is too funny.
  18. Yall are too funny. The Rocky picture I had in my mind has been forever altered!! LOL We just got home from date night. We went to Applebee's and then to Hastings. DH looked at gun magazines while I read my Jillean Micheal book, Losing to Win. Very good book. I am halfway through it. It was very nice to read without any little kid distractions. My run really boosted my self esteem. I felt very attractive tonight. A little flirty even. DH and I had a great time. I am going to bed now!
  19. Thanks guys!! I am just so pumped!! you know, I have been kinda bumbed lately because my scales are not dropping. Well, today helped a ton!! Being able to actually run for 20 minutes is better that getting on the scales and having lost a couple. Now, I can't say it's better than the total picture of losing 80, but it ranks pretty high up there. My scales may not be moving, but when I look in the mirror I am starting to see more curves, more bone structure, and a healthier me!! I attribute these recent changes to running. Now, a pound or two lost would be a great added bonus, but I think I am officially a runner now. It is so addictive, and the scales will have to drop eventually!!
  20. BTW< I warmed up at 3.7 mph and ran at 5.2.
  21. I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:w00t::w00t::thumbup::w00t::w00t::w00t::w00t::wink2::w00t::eek::w00t::w00t::w00t::w00t: I lived to tell about it. The first 10 minutes went by pretty fast. The next 5 were harder, and the last 5 were the longest 5 minutes of my life. I can't believe I actually did it!!! This is a big deal so I am going to be sentimental for a minute When this run started getting very hard I thought of where I started this journey 9 months ago and 81 pounds heavier. I couldn't run a minute much less a mile. Then I thought of my DH and DS and how fun it is to see them so proud of me. DH can't keep his hands off of me. Not just the physical part, but he is so proud of who I am becoming in the process. We are both seeing the me that he fell in love with and married being reborn. DS told me today, "Mom, I didn't think that lapband thing was supposed to work so fast!" He also told me that I am 81% to being "hot". They are my biggest fanclub and greatest support!! Then I thought of you all!! Bonnie - Finishing your run inspite of the psycho shoe guy at the gym. Leslie - Beiing determined to show DH that you can and are doing this Georgia - You have been a constant source of inspiration for me!! You never give up, even during long dry spells. You kept running even after your ankle injury Kathy - You are already scoping out 5k's to run. You are such an encourager to everyone else on here. So good about reading and responding to what's going on with everyone Mamato - You are kicking butt and taking names. While I was running I thought about you 1 day behind me. I knew I had to finish it because if I did then you would know that you can too. Whosya - I thought of your little girl wanting to run with you!! What a great inspiration to your kids. What determination you have Sugar - You are running even after EVLT! You go girl Lyn - You ran right up until surgery and are earger to get going again!! So, thanks you guys, I really did think of each of you while I was running. I was determined to be able to come back and post that I DID IT, and it was because of each of you!!! Sorry this is sooo long and sappy. I was probably sucking so much air that I am now overloaded with oxygen and in la la land. THE ROCKY MUSIC IS PLAYING!!!! You guys are the best.. Hey, if I get this excited over a 20 minute run, what will I do when I actually run a whole 5k. Better watch out!!
  22. OK, the moment has come. If I wait any later then it will be too close to the end of the day to attempt this. I am getting on the treadmill to run my 20 minute interval. Man, I want to be able to do this. If I don't post again within an hour be VERY concerned. LOL Just kidding!! I get back to ya all soon...I hear Rocky music!!!
  23. Today I was driving down the road and DS was sitting in the front passenger seat. He kept looking at me then he said, "Mom, I don't think that lapband thing was supposed to work so fast!" He said that I am officially 81% to being "hot". He is sooooo much like my DH. They both crack me up!!
  24. Way to go Georgia!! What a great feeling!!
  25. Way to go Leslie!!! Thanks Luluc. I will have to check that out too. My girls would thank me!!
