Not feeling sure about going through with WLS...
@@JerseyCityGal, you nailed it. The OP titled her post...Gettin real, so I thought she wanted "real" responses. It does seem like the only respnses she "likes" are those that go along with what she wants to hear. One cannot learn that way. I joined this forum so that I could learn and hear different perspectives....without the sugar coating

Pre-op Diet: How much/steadily to lose?
Thanks! I was totally thinking the same thing, Plateauing right into surgery...but so far nope. It seems I go a few days fluctuating within 3 lbs of the same weight, then see a loss. This was seriously frustrating in the beginning, but I'm learning to accept my body's reactions and stop stressing over the numbers. I'm hoping & praying you get approved! Your head is obviously in the right place, so don't see why insurance wouldn't approve you!!!

Do you notice how much others eat?
Yes when I am at work. I work in a school and the majority of my coworkers are overweight. I notice how much food they are eating, and I feel bad, that I am even noticing. I definitely do not want to turn into one of those lifestyle changers who judges or looks down on others. So I tell myself that I am being completely unfair and to cut it out!

Pre-op Diet: How much/steadily to lose?
Wow! 70 pounds lost! You are just Awesome! This is my 11th day on the official "PreOp" diet. I've lost about 6 pounds. I had already lost 50 or so on my own, eating a low calorie diet. So I think my body isn't too shocked by another low calorie diet.

Does anyone else get as much joy as I do when I update my ticker?
I am one of those who doesn't update a weight ticker. Because I don't have a thyroid, my weight can fluctuate +\- 3 pounds from day to day. So If I see the same weight 3 days in a row, I know for sure that it is my true weight. By then I've forgotten to update my fitness pal or my stats here

Not feeling sure about going through with WLS...
Honestly, it just sounds like you are not ready. My head was where yours is. I have always considered myself to be a beautiful full figured healthy woman. I was an all American athlete even though I was heavier than the other athletes. I took the attitude of, "yeah, I may be big, but I'm still better than you, prettier than you, and healthier than you" from those years and applied it for the pas 20 years. What a complete crock of ****. I believed my own lies. And in the process, lost years off my life, that I may never get back, because of my narcissism and truly unhealthy lifestyle. And guess what, I was once a vegetarian and actually believed that just because I didn't consume meat products, I was still healthier than other people....meanwhile I outweighed others by 100+ pounds. looking back on things, I often ask myself, "how could I have been so stupid?" Why and when did I brainwash myself into thinking that being 100+ lbs overweight was healthy or sexy." I woke up after learning all the cancers and diseases obese people develop and through surviving thyroid cancer. You have yet to face your own "Come to Jesus" moment. And that is okay as all of us are on our own journeys. I just hope your moment is sooner rather than later.

Smooth move tea help
Yes, I tried it and it did cramp up my stomach . It is a stimulant so it is not all that gentle in my opinion. Also, I read somewhere that it dyes your lower intestine a dark color...not sure if that's good or bad. LOL! So I am currently using milk of magnesia, as my flinstone vitamins w/iron are causing me problems. Milk of magnesia is stimulant free, so no tummy ache, and it is working great so far!

Changing your mindset/attitude towards food
Interesting question...Yoga, meditation, and targeted hypnosis are truly helping fill that void and are helping me become a more balanced person.

What's the deal with CAFFEINE ?!
My nutritionist said the same thing as @@MissMac mentioned. He also said caffeine can increase the hunger feeling.

The pre op struggle
Completely agree with @elode. I am on day 5 and what really helps me is making sure I eat/drink something every 2 hours. I set alarms on my phone to remind me. That way I don't reach that point where I feel like I'm starving...which has always sent me into a bad food choce/mind game spiral.

Unjury Protein
Yes, I just used it last night when I made sugar free white chocolate pudding. Initially, I could taste a little something but by the third bite, I didn't taste that something anymore...if that makes sense. Overall, I think it was a good buy and I will continue to use it

Sick and tired of explaining myself...
I'm sorry to hear about your family...I also have more than a few dysfunctional members. I choose not to meet them at their level, because I always feel bad afterwards and it has never been worth it in my experience. In my humble opinion, start with giving respect...then go from there
-
Sick and tired of explaining myself...
I feel your pain and frustration. I have gone through something very similar and I also had difficulty speaking up for myself because in my family...respecting your elders and family is serious business. May I suggest a more respectful response? Is their an elder in your family that everyone respects? If so. That is the person you express your concerns with in PRIVATE. That person will take it from there and before you know it, your weight will not be mentioned anymore. in my opinion, public declarations and/or going off on family you love is not respectful nor will it result in a positive outcome in the long run.

Cramps around my ankles and feet
@@amazon It's kind of a challenge to get all the potassium you need because some foods may not agree with our sleeve but here are potassium rich foods: Bananas Tomatoes Sweet potatoes Apricots White Beans Winter squash Nonfat milk Orange juice Plain nonfat yogurt Soybeans Tuna Halibut Prunes Clams Carrot juice

Cramps around my ankles and feet
I am a few days PreOp, but based on my past experiences with muscle cramps, your cramping may be due to a potassium deficiency. If you use my fitness pal, check how much potassium you are getting. If you are not getting the recommended allowance of 3500, the side affect is muscle cramps and spasms...and typically occur when you are sleeping. i found that drinking low sodium v8, or G2 mixed with water solves the problem.
