  1. Having gastric sleeve done in a few weeks
  2. Hi all I was sleeved on 10/6 and also had my hiatal hernia repaired. I have been having a lot of chest pain and also when i swallow my liquids. The only cold thing I can tolerate is sucking on a popsicle. My other liquids pretty much have to be room temp. Whenever I drink flavored water it pretty much burns when it gets to my stomach. Is this normal? I think I still have gas lodged in my left shoulder blade because it is very uncomfortable. I am doing my spirometer every few hours to exercise my lungs. I thought sure I would have lost some more weight by now. I gained 2lbs while in the hospital from all the fluids they pumped into me. I weighed today and I have lost the 2lbs. plus 3 more. Is that about right for this amount of time or not enough? I don't want to start feeling frustrated.

    2 days post weight gain.

I had the same question. I am 3 days postop and my stomach makes the craziest sounds besides growling all day long. I am having a hard time taking deep breaths. It hurts a lot. I use my spirometer ever 2-3 hours. And when I cough I feel like my insides are coming out...ouch. I was hoping to return to work next Monday but honestly I don't think I'm going to feel up to it yet.... I am a custodian. Thank God I only gained 3lbs in the hospital and have already lost it.

    Hiatal hernia repair

Thanks so far for the advice everyone. Believe me I am definetely taking tiny tiny sips. I am most definetely going to put the scale away until my doc appt. next Thursday, maybe this will help me keep my mind off that area for a bit. I'm not too sure what NSV stands for since I'm kinda new to this. I did really well with eating right from the day I began this journey 6/19 and lost 33 lbs. before my surgery. I am fully committed to this new lifestyle and can't wait to see what kinds of new things my future holds. Just praying the pain lessens as the days go by.
  5. So excited! After waiting patiently for three months. I have finally gotten my surgery date October 6th! I have lost a total of 29 lbs so far. Wish it would have been more but I guess I wasn't as dedicated to my 1 meal a day as I should have been. I did great with the shakes and sf Jello and popsicles and string cheese but just wasn't hungry enough to eat at lunch time and have meat and veggies. So i didn't consume enough calories therefore I didn't lose enough weight. Oh well you live and learn. I will be sure to do so after surgery and for the next couple of weeks!! Getting excited and nervous at the same time!
  6. Does anyone have the questions that were posted that we could ask our new pen pal?
  7. I have been doing my liquid protein diet since July 16th. I've had all of my tests done my psych eval lab work and everything done. I got in all the required support group meetings. So, today when I went in for my doctors appointment I was expecting to get a date for my surgery hoping it would be within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Well it turns out my surgeon has had a family emergency and he is trying to get his visa so that he can go overseas. So now that puts everyone on hold of course the people that were before me and now me and those that are after. They gave me an appointment to come back on September 11th. I am not a happy camper I am so so upset of course I left the office crying and was bawling in my car. I have been so motivated until now I lost my 10 pounds in the three weeks since I had seen him. I guess I had just mentally prepared myself to be having the surgery before the end of August and now it's not going to happen. Sad sad sad ????????????
  8. Thank you all for your kind words. It's nice to know ur there for me. There is another surgeon that works along with mine and they are going to see if he can fit some of us that will consider him into his schedule. I am all for it. I am just ready to GO and get this done!!! But I will stay on track and continue to do my exercise and continue to try to lose weight as much as possible. As upsetting as this all may be I know I need to be positive and realize that there is a reason for all of this.
