I went to sem. on Oct.31st 2008 - I will be getting my band on June 30th 2008!!! I can tell you be patient!

I jsut want to take a moment and THANK God!!! He knows I need my band and I have been praying about my wright for as long as I can remember!! I will have my surgery on 6-30. I will have my monthly visitor then , will it matter?:thumbup:

Robin bird I also have bcbs MI I live in NC - I do not have to have preapproval for my surgery with the type of ins I have since the surgery is outpat. It is covered as lond as I meet the criteria and I do . But I do have to have preapproval for the facility that the doctor is going to use. Did you have to do this? How long after your paper work was sent in did you have to wait for approval also the ins. company will not accept a fax they wanted it mailed!:biggrin:

O.k. your 6mos. HAS TO BE WITHIN THE LAST 12MOS AND YOU HAVE TO PROVIDE A HISTORY OF THE LAST YEAR. YOU MIGHT WANT TO DBL. CHECK BECAUSE MINE MIGHT BE DIFFERENT. ALSO I AM CONFUSSED ABOUT "WAITING ON A PREAPPV." BECAUSE THE LADY I SPOKE WITH SAID I DID NOT NEED PREAPPV. BECAUSE IT IS OUTPAT. SUG. SHE SAID AS LONG AS I MET THE CRITERIA I AM APPROVED BECAUSE IT FALLS UNDER MY BENEFITS?! 5 WEEEKS IS A LONG TIME?

NEW NEWS I DID TALK WITH A REP. FROM BCBS MI AND THEY HAVE MADE REVISIONS TO BARIATRIC CRITERIA NO LONGER 12 MOS. PCP SUPEVSD. DIET. IT IS NOW 6 MOS. YEA!! wtg BCBS MI!!!:tt1:

I have bcbs- Mi and they do accept ww but I have to show 12 mos. of periodic weigh ins. along with the other criteria.

Hello- just wondering what all did you submit to bcbs for approval? I was told by a bcbs mi rep. that they did not do pre-approvals - that they just checked everything to make sure that you meet the criteria for surgery?

I am switching to bcbs-MI in Jan.08 I have been ont he phone with them several times and the way it was explained to me was the you do not have to go to the doctor every month for 12 mos. The lady I spoke with said that would be a waste of time. However you need documentation for weight loss failure over the last 12 mos. I have been waiting for 1-1-08 to get here because I don't have a contract # yet and they say that each policy is different. We will have a ppo1 plan? Good luck to all - We sure don't need 12 mos to knoe if we are fat or not?!

To those of us that have BCBS MI- There have been many ?'s about 12 mos. visits with doctor doing supervised diet- Well here is what I found out. You do not have to go to the doctor every month for 12 mos. what you do have to do is show that periodically in 12 consec. mos. that you have been over weight and failed at the attempts to lose weight. Which makes a lot more since.:clap2:

Insurance makes no since to me- It should be all the same- I wonder what kind of cov. she had. I am very anxious to find out exactly what kind I have. We are all in this together I will pray for peace of mind for us both tonight. I live in North Carolina where are you? It has taken me a while to find anyone who has BCBS MI- I still am not sure on the difference off the plans 1,2,hmo? We will soon find out! HAng in there!

The girl was on this website under insurance it was an old entry. I cann't remember all the details but it was not hard to find. I do not want to wait 12 mos. my doc. in north carolina said he had NEVER heard of a 12 month waiting period. I am going to see if I can work something out since I am in the middle of this and my ins. will not be changing until1-08. Let me knoe if you can not find this girl and I will look it up for you!

What kind of policy do you have? I do not have my benf. package yet and I am so anxious? What kind of documents do you need from WW?

Hello- My husbands compnay is switching to BCBS of MI - I have never really used our insurance untill now and of course midstream it changes. I have heard it is up to your ind. policy. My hubby's comp. is self ins. and they just use BCBS to addmin. the ins. ? I have a lot of questions myself but we have not recvd. our benf. package yet. I read on this web site of a girl who said she did not hve to wait the 12 mos. I personally feel waiting 12 mos. is so stupid - I don't need 12 mos to make up my mind if I am fat or not!! I have also heard that they were lax about the reqmts?! What kind of policy do you have ppo1 ppo2 hmo ? So many different ones. Good luck!
