Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!
That first comment was made on 15th December 08... the last one on 26th May... Here it is, 7th September and I'm STILL not there yet but I'm damn well going to be tomorrow!!! Scales this morning came up at 79.5kg, which is 175.25 in lb language... Rotten things wouldn't give me a quarter of a pound, just so I could see that number 100 come up on my ticker, would they? But it WILL HAPPEN TOMORROW!!!

PJTP: Look at my ticker!! *dances* I've been so close to breaking the 80kg barrier twice lately and then gone back up again. I got down to 80.8kg last month, then 80.3 a few weeks back, and promptly bounced up and down from there to 81.5 over and over and over... but this morning I made it!! 79.9!! Whoohooo!!! One more pound and I'll be able to post in the 100lb lost thread too! Double-whoohooo!! Yay for fills! :sneaky:

What a great idea!! I doubt if it can happen but it would be cool. Maybe someone should suggest "Boxing Rings" to Alex, as a new LBT feature? That way, when two people start going at it head to head, the mods can tell them to "take it to the ring!!" (not that I think it would be like that with you, Beth, but I know you have strong opinions, as do I, so it could be a cool match! )

You can come stay with me anytime!! (And that goes for any of you, out there - if you're visiting DownUnder, you had BETTER come look me up!! I have a guestroom for anyone that wants it!) Mind you, you won't get to see the Opera House from my place. I live in Perth, which is on the other side of the continent from Sydney - think New York/LA distances.

Hehe - I knew I was being a "bad" girl, bringing politics in here, but I couldn't resist having a bit of a dig . We should go start a(nother) thread in Rant and Raves, debating the relative merits of our systems, coz I have some pretty strong opinions and they're almost diametrically opposed to yours. I think the debate would be fun, as you seem to be one of the few political debaters capable of presenting logical and reasoned arguments. I love debating but don't bring it into this thread very often. Whatdya say? Up for some fun? (Although I can't really get started till I finish work in a few hours - just sneaking in for quick posts at the moment.)

It's funny, you know, but the more I read in this site about the troubles that US citizens have with their complicated insurance system and Medicaid, etc, the more I think you guys really NEED a universal health care system. Our system isn't perfect by any means, but ask any Aussie about how difficult or easy it was to get the band, either privately or through the public system, and I'll bet most of them would say it was a walk in the park compared to the stories from our US counterparts.

Erk...in case anyone was wondering, having a root canal REALLY SUCKS!!! I've had toothache for the last couple of weeks. Went to the dentist last week and he replaced a filling but said at the time that it was 50:50 as to whether or not the tooth would settle down and the new filling would fix the problem, so made an appointment for today to see how it would go. If it fixed it, fine; if not, root canal today... Well it didn't fix it. My tooth has been killing me more and more since then and I've been dosing myself up on stronger and stronger painkillers. Today I woke up with it aching away, so took some extra strong ones, went back to bed and resigned myself to the full treatment tonight. Let me just say once again, root canals SUCK!! What's worse, it take 3 stages and today's was only 45 mins in the chair. The next two will apparently take an hour each  The only silver lining is that it has made it really easy to stick to liquids after my fill yesterday.

It's worth looking for, as fat free bacon is great in so many dishes. However, if you can't find it, just drop the teaspoon of butter and let the bacon cook a little longer till the fat goes clear, then drain off the fat before adding the veges. That would bring the cal count up to about 550-600 for the whole pot, so still only 100 cal a bowl.

The fat free short cut is basically just the eye out of the ribeye cut of bacon, with all the fat trimmed away. It's a very popular cut here, although it's a bit more expensive than fatty bacon. It is delicious though - all the yum of bacon with none of the guilt! The difference is about 130 cal for 125g of fat free, vs 375 cal for the same amount of a regular fatty middle rasher, and 1g of fat compared to 17g for the fatty bacon!! Shortcut Middle rashers PS: The short cut isn't turkey bacon or "reconstituted bacon-like substances", it is real bacon - just the flesh part with none of the fat.

OMG, I posted yesterday... YESTERDAY!! And already there are over a 100 new posts! You guys talk too much! :w00t: hehehe Anyhoo, pjtp: I made up this soup recipe last night, as an amalgamation of several others, and it turned out DELICIOUS!!! Easy peasy to make and really low cal/low fat too! Cauliflower, Zucchini and Bacon Soup 1/2 large head of cauliflower, chopped roughly 1 large zucchini, chopped roughly 125g pkt shortcut fat free bacon, diced finely 1 teaspoon butter 500ml Continental or Campbells Liquid Vegetable Stock Freshly ground pepper Melt the butter in the bottom of the soup pot. Add bacon and soften for a minute or two (don't brown), then add veges and pepper and soften for 5 mins more. Add stock to pot, bring to boil, cover and simmer for 20 mins until veges are really soft. Put everything in a blender (just fits my 2 litre) and whizz for 1 min. Return to pot and stir over low heat, season with salt/pepper to taste. It might need a tad extra water (say, just enough to rinse out the blender as you pour it back into the pot) but it is meant to be very thick, so don't put too much in. Serve!! It makes at least 6 bowls and the WHOLE pot only adds up to 380 calories/5g fat, so it's roughly 60 cal a bowl - and just YUM!! (If you use fatty/streaky bacon, the counts go up very quickly!) Enjoy  PS: @ Plain, I enjoy liver, kidneys, brains and many other organs in my mouth

PJTP: Now THAT's how it's done!! I've been struggling to lose this year and last had a fill in March. At the time, my surgeon said things like "oh well, you've reached the goal I had in mind for you, so I don't think you need to come back". I have plastic surgery in December and I was hoping to have lost 15kg this year but I have only lost 5kg, but I've been reluctant to go for another fill because of my doc's comments. I finally decided, bugger it! I need another fill!! I mean, I ate a complete roast lamb dinner on Saturday night AND followed it up with a big dessert!! I NEED a fill! So this time, I made the appointment with one of the surgeon's "assistant" doctors, and she's listened to me, and not just agreed on giving another fill but wants me back every four weeks for adjustments until the surgery date! YAY!! Maybe I'll FINALLY see some decent movement in the scale, instead of this piss-farting around with 0.5kg up and down each month...

*hugs* Kat (with a K!) I would be feeling sick at the stomach too Our grandchildren are so precious and it is so hard to not step in and take over in situations like that (at least, it is for me!). I know my daughter is a great mum and her hubby is a great dad, but if that were not so, I could see myself being the interfering grandmother big time...

It was my 2nd granddaughter's 4th birthday last week and we had the party yesterday (Sunday). The theme was "Pirates and Fairies" and I talked Chris into dressing up for it!! My honey and I: My adorable #2 granddaughter (Charlotte Ashleigh): My adorable #1 granddaughter (Kayla Rose):

Thank you, heartfire!! I've never been into shopping before but I am really getting into it now. Bought some lovely new tops on special last night (and yes, several patterns, one of them really LOUD but it works!) and the sexiest pair of shoes! My honey says he's taking me out for dinner and dancing tonight, so I get to wear my new red dress and my sexy shoes  YAY!

I think I'm becoming a shopaholic . After all these years of shopping being a nightmare experience that always ended with me standing in the middle of a shopping centre, clutching a bunch of notes and tears running down my face, I am finally enjoying the experience! I can't express how different it feels to walk into a store and see lots of cute stuff, try it on and have it FIT and even actually LOOK GOOD!! I can't help myself when that happens - I have to buy it! I have SOOOOO blown my clothes shopping budget for the rest of the year!

I can relate to this really well at the moment. I'm in a new job where no-one has ever seen me before I lost the weight, and I'm finding it so weird that no-one knows me as "the fat girl" or even "the fat girl who lost a lot of weight". I've been so used to that for so long, it is just odd to see how people relate to me without that stigma being in the way at first. There is also a woman here, who is very large and seems pretty unhappy about it. A part of me wants to go up to her and have a quiet talk, but another part of me remembers how much that would have humiliated me if someone had said something like that when I was that size.

Congrats on the NSV, Susan!! I think that moment when you finally fit into "normal" clothes off the rack in "normal" stores, is the very best one of all. It is a feeling like no other...so many different emotions.
