I am 4 days post op. My surgeon said on day three I could have cream of wheat but thin. The food would hit my stomach and I would have a pain. I am eating less than a half cup. I am tired of broth so tonight I pureed a can of split pea and ham soup and thinned it with 1% milk. Had the same pain on eating soup. Am I not ready for creamed foods? Do I need to eat less? Do I need to thin the soups and cream of wheat more?
So good to hear all who are glad they did this. I just started my preop diet and in a week I will have the gastric sleeve surgery. For a week I have been second guessing this decision. Reality is that yes I can diet and lose weight but have never been able to keep off the weight. I need this "tool" to remind me that I can't eat huge amounts. I am not worried about the surgery but life after surgery. I was so excited at the beginning of this journey but now feeling anxious about down the road.
My starting weight was 356 and I am 5 ft 6in. My BMI went to 53 so only 4 days on preop. My doctor wanted me to lose 19 pounds before surgery. I started July 29th and as of today I have lost 36 pounds. My surgery is Dec 1st. Getting anxious. Not so much for the surgery but life with the sleeve. Good luck with your journey.
