  1. Things are moving along a little quicker than I thought they would so now it looks like I'll be sleeved in September! I have one more appointment with psych, one more with the nut, and one with an internist with the practice. That will all be done in the next two weeks. Then I'll get my date! I met my surgeon today and she said September is very likely...
  2. I also live on the South Shore...having it done at Tufts.
  3. Good luck! Looks like late September for me...hoping for September 29. I should have a date in about 3 weeks once I meet with psych, nut and in-house internist.
  4. I am also in the Boston area...met with my surgeon today...looks like September is a good possibility...hoping for September 29. Good luck!!
  5. I used them for a while...they are great! It is a not expensive but of you have the money it might be worth it to get you through as you change sizes. Look around online as they always have free trials!
  6. Yup...my first meeting with the center I am going to was with Psych. It was nothing really...just a conversation. So this week I have my first meeting with the nutritionist then a week from today I have an "Immersion Day" where I am at the hospital all day to talk about the whole process, group psych and group nut...should be interesting. Sometimes I can hardly believe I am doing this! I am excited thinking about where I'll be a year from now though...
  7. You look gorgeous!! I am also from MA and just starting the process at Tufts. I hope I am just as successful as you! Congrats on your success!
  8. Yay!! Excited for you! My surgeon requires 2 nights in the hospital after surgery. I believe this is to ensure you are recovered from anesthesia, to make sure you are hydrated and to make sure there are no leaks. I saw a post where one person was able to go home the same day which seems crazy to me but most seem to require 1-2 nights I the hospital. Best of luck!
  9. So True!! To everyone who said "ride a roller coaster" I would invite you to go to Disney which is so weight friendly! My husband and I go every year and ride everything and see many people our size or larger ride with no problems! I wish every amusement park was so accomadating! That said I thought of one other thing I want to do which is to do one of the Segway tours at Disney World. Their Segways have a weight limit and I can't wait to be below that!
  10. I am starting the process as well (first appointment today with psych & appointments scheduled soon with nut, immersion day & a second psych appointment) My insurance requires 6 months of counseling through a program they conduct (phone call once a month) so I am looking at a January/February surgery date. I know it's tough waiting but I am using this time to get as healthy as I can be for surgery. I will need to lose 5-10% of my weight by surgery so I am going to work on that as well as tracking, eating slower, getting in all my Protein...6 months will go by so fast!! Hang in there!!
  11. Buying a NICE bike and going on long rides with my husband! We rented bikes a couple of years ago and started on a 26 mile (round trip) trail...we made it 6,5 miles and turned around because I couldn't keep going. I don't want to hold my husband back anymore! I also want to get a really nice Trek bike. They are custom made & you are weighed/measured for them....I'd be too embarrassed now to try and have that done! I am also interested in trying zip lining!
  12. Hello All! I'm Steph and I am just starting my journey to VSG! I spoke to my PCP & Endocrinologist (Hypothyroid & Diabetic) and both support my decision. My first appointment at my chosen Weight & Wellness Center is tomorrow with Psych. At this point only three people know I am going to do this - my husband, my boss (wanted to let her know since I'll have to take time off for appointments and eventually surgery/recovery) and my best friend at work. All have been very supportive of me! My insurance requires me to complete 6 months of counseling through them (from what I understand it's a phone call with a counselor once a month discussing lifestyle change) Other than that it seems like the surgeon's requirements are pretty standard (psych, nutrition, an immersion day where we have group counseling, meet a surgeon etc) I am hoping for surgery in February Good luck to everyone!! I look forward to following all your successes!!
