    Contrception after bypass

I saw a hematologist while In the hospital for the surgery and he was the one who actually suggested the mini pill to me.
  2. It's double checking what the recommended portion sizes are. I believe it's 1/4 cup for veggies and carbs but can someone remind me the ounces for meats please.
  3. A there anything I can do to jump start a stall besides wait it out? I'm getting in all of my protein and liquids but this stall feels like it has been forever long! Getting frustrated.
  4. Am only 3 weeks post op and on soft foods at this point. Was wondering at what point will I be able to have salads. I figure that may be a good go to meal when the family decides to do dinner out.

    Stalls

I am exercising and my stall has been about 2 weeks now. I'm only 7 weeks out so fasting and a pouch test are pretty much out of the question. I haven't been doing measurements but maybe I should start trying that when the scale isn't reflecting change.
  6. How much do you take a day and does it really help?
  7. I also went on the BA site and got a compete sample pack. I am going to check the site and see if they off samples as well. Definitely don't want to spend money on something that tastes terrible and am stuck with it for a month.
  8. Does anyone use the bariatric advantage calcium chew bites? If so how far out were you using them? I am now 6 weeks out using the chewable which I can't stand. I am being told by my Dr the chew bites are recommended for over 3 months out. Not sure if I can do another 6 weeks of the nasty chewable.

    Salads

Well I was cleared for salad at 6 weeks. I started with lettuce and meat. Every time I do a salad now I add a veggie to make sure I am still "good" to eat it. Now up to meat, lettuce, cheese and tomato.
  10. My Dr office only sells the Carmel and chocolate peanut butter ones. I got the Carmel. MUCH better than the chewable wild cherry. Those were disgusting!
  11. Thanks for the info. I switched to the Carmel chew bites today and going to research all the other suggestions to get the best deal with my next purchase. I appreciate all the help!
  12. My thoughts exactly. I buy the BA multi vitamin already because it includes all the extra vitamin requirements for the day. It's a little pricey but then again I don't have to buy individual vitamins either to add to it. Just have to compare the price to the convenience.
  13. My office sells the BA as well but not sure of the cost for the chews. I have to do the 500mg 3 times a day so will have to find out the price to see what is a better deal.
  14. Thanks for the info. Will definitely look into it and compare prices. I have to take them 3 times a day so cheaper will be nicer for sure.
  15. Why take 2 different brands?
  16. The Carmel chews are the ones I wanted to switch to at my 6 week appt but my Dr office recommends I stay on the chewable (wild cherry) ones that taste like chalk till I am 3 months post op. They said something like they are worried the chew bites since they are like taffy are a choking hazard. Just can't understand if I am now cleared for regular food why they are so worried about me using a calcium chew. I really want to switch. Just wanted to see if anyone else was told the same.
  17. After 5 weeks of using Protein shakes they are now making me nauseous. Thinking of bypassing the shakes and just getting flavored powdered protein to mix in my Water. Any other ideas or suggestions? Kelly
  18. I've tried drinking slower and also adding some fruit to it thinking if it had a different taste I may be able to tolerate it a bit more. Not such luck.

    need prayers.

So sorry for your loss. I unfortunately know this pain all too well. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
  20. So I am a little over 4 weeks post op and was considering trying ground meet for dinner tonight with a bit of gravy to ensure moistness. Just curious before I try if anyone had difficulty with ground beef this early on? Thanks.
  21. I do the premier shakes as well. After a month I was starting to struggle to finish them. A friend who is also had gastric bypass suggested making a smoothie with it. Now I add one banana and ice and blend it with the shake and can tolerate it well again.

    Ground beef

Seems to have gone well. Made a small burger in brown gravy. It was very moist and easy to eat. Thanks for all the responses!
  23. Today marks my 1 month post op day and I am excited to share my news. I am down 37.4 pounds! It's so nice to have clothes from just one a few weeks ago start to be too loose to even wear. I may not be able to eat all the great stuff my family and friends were able to eat last night at the 4th of July picnic but today I feel great being closer to a skinnier, healthier, happier me!
  24. I'm having some trouble with this well. Not being able to gulp drinks has been my struggle at getting all the water needed. I now fill 2 - 32oz bottles of water to make sure I get enough or at least as close as I possibly can. And I just found out from my nurse the other day that the water shouldn't be refrigerated which sucks. Oh- and I am 4 weeks post op too
  25. I eat chicken. I make it in my crockpot so buy the time it's done it's flakey and soft and goes down very easily.
