STUPID PCP!
I had something similar happen to me with my PCP. Took the papers and asked him to do this, he gave me the run around. Then told me he's not a nut counselor, and he doesn't have time to sit here and explain nutrition with me. I left and it was like a huge weight came on me. Called the bariatric group and they were surprised, never heard of a dr not doing this. They called the dr they deal with and got me an appointment right away. Dr came in said we'd be done in 15 seconds and we were! Just asked me questions. We did talk a little after that but was about my PCP not doing it. This one said his loss is my gain. I just hope my ins will do 2 PCP because my old one is still taking care of me and the new one is for nutrition only.

Because I'm happy, clap along if you feel like a room w/o a roof.
Jenelle, I've been told to use coco butter cream on scars and they can fade. Or they have scar creams out there that r suppose to fade them away! You have to be faithful in using it at least twice a day.

considering bariatric sleeve surgery but so confused if its the best decision.
I recommend you reading a lot of posts on here, it's what helped me to make the decision. So many good thoughts and for the most the writers on here are great! You can understand it all in a way that the drs and nut don't explain, first hand! I've been on other sites and this site for me has been the best. Read on and educate yourself on this and you will come to a decision, good luck.

Stomach scope procedure
I just got home from my scope. Gosh all the personal at the hospital were so nice. Fell asleep and woke up back in my room. No discomfort at all, but I do have polyp and hiatal hernia. So will have that taken care of when my surgery is done. Since I feel great I'm off to the apple store with my daughter. Enjoy your day.

Anyone familiar with Medicare?
I personally haven't talked to Medicare, this is what my drs office called the billing and they said the amount. I also have Tricare for Life but they won't cover it.

Stomach scope procedure
Don't stress over it, like sleeveless in Seattle said it's a piece of cake. May have a small sore throat but other than that nothing to worry about.

Sleep Apnea and Sleeve Surgery
I to have sleep apnea, but couldn't use the CPAP because of my copd/asthma. And anxiety with having something over my face, I felt like I was suffocating. My lung dr did a overnight O2 saturation test on me and I've been on oxygen at night for over a year now. I did 6 months of 24 hr before using just for sleep. Maybe this would be an idea? I do feel more rested when I wake up while using it. I'm hoping my sleeping will improve when I have my wls. Good luck too you.

Stomach scope procedure
Hey Jammil0411, I have my scope on Tuesday, what he is looking for is if your stomach has a sickness, forgot what it's called a virus of some kind. If you do it's treated with antibiotics before surgery. It is somewhere on this site. You'll only be out about 15 min is what my surgeon told me, so you will need someone to take you home after. Good luck

Sitting next to my mom.....
I agree tell her when it's done. If I were to tell my mom she would tell all and I'm 57 yrs old! All my family lives in different states than I, my kids are here. I will tell them when my surgery date comes up. Which I'm doing the 6 month wait. Good luck, I understand.

So anybody else want to do bodily harm to their psych?
I see my psych. every 3 months for medication, also see a counselor every other week. Doc you think I could've used one of them? My psychologist has written these letters b 4. But my surgeon has a specific psych that he sends us too, so I will be seeing him. Just glad my ins is paying for it.

57 year old low bmi post op 4/24
I'm 57, once I thought I was too old for this wls. But then I had a women in the first meeting ( welcome to wls) who was 60. So I know if she is going for it then so can I! Anyone having problems telling their adult kids? I have a controlling daughter who I believe will b against me getting this done. My son is easy going and say what ever makes you happy mom. My fiancé of 10 years said it was to drastic. He is the only one that knows, my family doesn't understand since I'm the smallest of 5 girls and 2 brothers one who is overweight. I have been taking my fiancé with me to meetings, dr visits, all that I can get him in. So he is getting info first hand, were both retired so he can do this with me. I just wish my ins didn't have a 6 mth PCP for weight loss. I also have had 1/2 of the list of requirements done and the rest scheduled for Aug. sure hope time flies!

How much was your out of pocket?!?
I have Medicare and my out of pocket is 10%, which my surgeons office said is about 1,200.

Anyone familiar with Medicare?
Thanks for the info on Medicare, I've been looking for someone who is on it. I have to go through many of the tests before they will approve it. The drs office called Medicare and they said I would be responsible for the 10% which is about 1,200. I also have Tricare for Life but they don't cover wls. Unless your bmi is 40. Good luck with your surgery, I have to wait the 6 months, bummer. I was so worked up for having it sooner
