  1. Good Morning All, I am a little over 10 months out, 141 lbs down and have officially hit a weight loss wall. I'm 5'3 with a starting weight of 340, currently 199. I have lost steadily since surgery so this stall is kind of making me nervous. I log everything I eat/drink daily, work out 4 times per week at 75 minutes each with a trainer. I could really use some input from those that are a little further along in their journey! I have gone 2 weeks without losing anything, how long will this last or am I just all of a sudden no longer going to lose weight? My goal is 140 lbs so I still have weight to lose. I am very mindful of everything that I eat and am following the rules. When I asked my nutritionist how many calories I should aim for each day, she told me not to worry about that but to eat when I am physically hungry. I keep my calories at 1350 per day (Myfitnesspal recommendation) just for my own piece of mind. I have also noticed that I am hungry much more than I used to be as of about 2 months ago when I increased my gym time. Any advice? Thank you!
  2. I am now 6 months post-op (sleeve) and have lost 100 lbs during this time!! I am beyond thrilled and feel amazing!! I was wondering though if any other women noticed any changes in their periods in this timeframe? I am very regular but am noticing that periods are a little shorter and lighter (not a bad thing), I also just turned 40 and am hoping that this is related to the rapid weight loss/exercise and not the beginning of perimenopause! My husband and I have not been able to conceive due to my obesity and I realize that I am now "old", but still hoping there may be a chance. I would love any feedback from those that have been there! Thank you!
  3. Hello Everyone, I am beyond thrilled with my progress thus far! I had the sleeve on June 3, 2014 and I am down 81lbs as of last week!! I feel like a different person. My biggest issue is that I am having a very hard time drinking my Protein shakes every day. I only need to drink one in order to get in an ideal amount of protein (my stomach doesn't hold much room and it is nearly impossible to meet this goal with food alone). I am so tired of sweet drinks so I was wondering if anyone knew of a very low volume, high protein whey isolate protein source that is easy to get down without making you feel nauseated? I work out 3-4 days per week for 1 hr 15 minutes each session (weights/cardio) and I don't want to lose muscle as a result of inadequate protein intake. I would appreciate any guidance offered! Thank you!

  5. Hello, It looks like we had surgery at the same group! Dr Halmi did my sleeve on June 3rd and I had the very same issue. Did the hospital give you that little two oz cup to drink out of? I literally had to take baby sips continuously. It is just due to the swelling post op. I actually took me almost 3 weeks to be able to get near the Fluid requirements. The RD at Bluepoint said in the first week or two just to do the best that you can. I was kind of scared that I would never be able to drink normally again, but now that I am 4.5 weeks out it is much better. Hang in there and if you are able, come to the Tuesday night support groups in Woodbridge!

    Hello, I am almost 2 weeks post op with the sleeve as well and I had the very same problem. My temperature hovered around 102 for almost a week. The very best thing that you can do is get up and walk in addition to using the incentive spirometer (I hope they gave you one?). Unless you are having abdominal pain, it is highly unlikely that you have a leak. The elevated temperature is a normal inflammatory response that your body is having to being cut and manipulated during surgery. It is actually your immune system working to heal the body. Now if you should develop any new or worsening abdominal pain, chest pain, shortness or breath, or cough you should call your doctor. It is important to move and deep breathe because if you are sitting/laying down too long, the small sacs in your lungs where gas exchange occurs start to collapse which leads to increased temperature and ultimately post op pneumonia. So even if you are a sore try to move every hour except when sleeping at night. If the temperature persists despite your best efforts or gets higher than 102, call your doctor. The lack of hunger is normal, just do the best you can. And lastly, unless you are sitting outside in the heat for prolonged periods of time, it is unlikely that you have heat stroke. AMD RN
  7. Hello Lambada, I don't want to discourage you at all but there are a few things that raise "red flags" for me. I am a Registered Nurse here in the U.S. so I have a fair amount of medical knowledge. Traveling to have surgery with someone that has not even met you in person yet is flag #1. The fact that you are traveling there alone as a female is flag #2. The fact that they are willing to do the all of the pre op testing the day before surgery is flag #3. Lastly the fact that you will have to take a 5.5 hr flight home 2 days post surgery is flag #4. You will already be at a much higher risk for forming blood clots in your legs without having to sit on a plane for several hours. That is beyond risky. I am quite fearful for you should you proceed with this plan. If you are able to travel to another country, why not look into some areas that are much safer and rigorously regulated. Would you be able to come to the U.S.? I know that it is expensive, but this is your life!! I hope this will give you serious pause to really evaluate all of the risks that you are taking. Again, this is written with nothing but absolute concern for you and your safety. Best, Aubrey

  9. Hi Everyone, I am new to this website and surgery! I had the sleeve done on June 3rd of this year and have been home from the hospital 1.5 days now. I am having the HARDEST time getting anywhere near the water/calorie/protein requirements. I have zero appetite and everything seems to make me feel a little queasy. I am so afraid that there might something wrong with me. I spoke with the dietician today and she said not to get too concerned just yet. I have no energy either, but I expected that. I would love to hear from some sleeve experts as to how their first week or so went and how long it took to get enough nutrients. Thank you, Aubrey
