    Post Op June 2014 Sleevers

I started to feel hungry the day after surgery as well. I called my dr. and he told me that I was dehydrated, to up my water. I forced myself to drink 80 ounces of water or more, and I swear it made the hunger go away...from what I heard, dehydration can feel like hunger. How much fluids are you drinking per day? Have you tried Premier shakes? To me, they taste the best. I bought Pure Protein from Target, it was pretty gross, had to return it. We went to Vitamin Shoppe yesterday, they have pre-made shakes that they sell separately which is pretty cool, you get to try it before you buy the whole pack. I am also on the prowl for a protein powder that I will actually enjoy drinking. Premier's are getting old for me =(

    Post Op June 2014 Sleevers

My surgery was June 5th. I am feeling good. Down 13 pounds so far. I also have a little pain in my upper abdomen. I seen my dr. on Friday, he said it is normal. That is the area were my internal stitches are, and I may feel a sharp pain from time to time. I am off the tynenol/pain medication and feeling ok. Having some head hunger issues at night, I came a long way to go back to the old me! Can't wait for my transformation!
  8. First of, I want to thank this awesome group of supportive people on here, this website made things good so much smoother for me! My surgery was last Thursday 6/5/14. My surgery had a few bumps on the road, but nothing I couldn't handle. My surgery was at 4 pm. My dr. came in and spoke to me before I was wheeled into the OR. I remember going into the OR, talking to the staff and that was all I remembered from there. I remember waking up as I was being wheeled away to recovery, freaking out. I was very uncomfortable in pain as I was being wheeled away, the way the pain felt was like severe cramps times a hundred, in the area were my old stomach was. I was given a very strong narcotic pain killer when I arrived in recovery and the pain subsided. What I felt during the rest of my recovery was severe nausea, almost like the worst hangover of your life. I started to panic and regret what I did. I had a million thoughts of regret and "what if this nausea never goes away" Every time I was given anti nausea medication, it made me gag and it was the worst feeling since I was putting pressure on my incisions. Talk about pain! My dr. told me nausea is very common in younger women. The nausea subsided the following afternoon around lunch time. The drs. & nurses know their stuff. When they tell you to walk after your surgery, WALK! It helped my nausea go away..without listening to them, I would have been a mess. Tomorrow is officially a week post op, I am feeling great! I thought I would be tired from not having caffeine ( I was a coffee & soda junkie before) but I am adjusting to a new life. I had to be on Clear liquids all week, I felt hunger for a couple of days, my dr. swore it is not hunger I was feeling but was thirst. I swore I felt strong hunger, I did not think I could make it without eating. I forced myself to drink over 80 ounces of Water and it helped with the hunger in a big way. Today I started my Premier shakes, it is taking a looong time to finish my first shake, I have been working at this shake for an hour and I am not even halfway done. I can feel the restriction now for the first time, I was very worried during my post op liquid diet that the surgery would not work since I did not feel any restriction. I am excited for a new start!
  9. Thanks for the info about the shakes, very helpful! Here I thought I could chug the whole thing down with a few big sips. Butterfly, I was feeling a strong hunger 4 days post-op, the dr told me I was not hungry but dehydrated instead, I got concerned so I forced myself to drink all that Water. I put some water bottles in the freezer and let them get very cold to were there was a little bit of ice chips in them and I swear it made the water do down smoother. It was a challenge but I did it.

    Surgery tommorow!

Wishing you a speedy recovery! Thanks for posting your update, I know what to look forward to today. My surgery is at 1 pm today. The no liquids/ no food is getting to me now, hopefully 1 pm will get here soon.
  13. Hello to everyone, My surgery is scheduled for tomorrow. I am feeling so many emotions, I almost want to cry. After years of losing weight only for it to come back when I whenever I would eat carbs has been very heartbreaking for me, I felt like I will have to be on a diet all my life and I would never overcome this weight problem. I revealed to my neighbor who has been skinny all his life that I am having the sleeve, he told me "why don't you try working out and eating healthy" Only a person that has had weight issues can relate to how that comment is not at easy as it sounds. I did very well on all my past diets to lose the weight, but it would always somehow make it's way back. Whenever I would eat, I would actually get hungrier after I am done eating and just keep eating. I never feel full when I eat, I feel like this only happens to me. I have great plans ahead to lose the weight and keep it off. Thank you to you everyone for your informative posts! xoxo

    Anyone have BCBS insurance?

I have Horizon BCBS of NJ and they were awesome ( I never say that about any insurance company lol) From what I have heard, they are the easiest to approve WLS. I had to do a 3 months with the nutritionist, letter of medical necessity/ weight history from primary dr. and the psych evaluation and I was approved in a week with no issues. My primary did have me at a lower weight last year, idk if that may have helped. They did not require documented weight loss programs from me.My BMI is at 41. Wish you the best & hope you are able to get an easy approval.
  15. Thank you so much for such motivating words! Just what I needed to hear!
