  1. Hi Erica, I am struggling with eating also. I am only able to eat 1oz of pureed food then a few hours later, I am feeling hungry again and I too have what you call spasms and tightening of the stomach. I don't know what it is. I was thinking intense hunger pains but it's hard to say. Hang in there and good luck.
  2. Hi, @mi75 and @@rickm, Thanks for your responses. It all makes sense and thanks for giving me something to consider. BTW, no hernia just a persistent swollen tummy.
  3. Hi Jean, Thanks for your response. I am on the pureed stage. I did read the stage II diet plan given by my Nut and I am in stage II and eating right. It didn't say how much I should eat nor did it say how much I would be able to eat. I thought it was normal to only be able to eat 1oz but I have someone else who had the same surgery on the same day with the same surgeon who can eat 3 oz. I do take a acid blocker. I know the amount of food people can eat changes over time. I can only hope that it is acid in my stomach and not hunger as the feeling is so intense. Thanks again for your input.
  4. Thanks! Glad to hear that I'll be out of it for most of the day. Now if I can just get through this clear-liquid day today I'll be set. Josh, one way to do that is stay busy. Keep posting on here, post all your questions and concersn, read a few posts and think about tomorrow and it will be here sooner than you think. It's less than 24 hours now.
  5. I was able to have an 8 oz Protein shake and feel satisfied. During my two week pre-op liquid protein diet I was good. I wasn't hungry and did really well. Fast forward to a week post-op and a liquid Protein does nothing to satisfy me. Ok, I can't drink the whole 8 oz at once but shouldn't I feel satisfied with 4 oz since my tummy only allows me 1 oz of pureed food? I'm so puzzled by this I had to post. Just curious, did anyone else experience the same or similar?
  6. Hi Josh, Don't worry, you won't stay awake long enough to think or want food. Good luck. I'm wishing you a healthy and happy recovery.
  7. Hello, I feel the same way and actually posted about it. I was sleeved on the same day as you. I am on pureed food 1 day post op and I too feel hungry. I can only eat 1 oz and barely 1 oz so after I eat it, a few hours later I feel hungry again. Today I came to the conclusion that I'm most likely hungry because I am not able to eat enough in one sitting. There is another woman who can eat 3 oz in a stting and she too said she feels hungry every 3-4 hours. Just know, you are not alone. When you do start pureed foods, I hope your experience is better than mine and you can eat more. Good luck as I've heard it gets better with time.
  8. I wasn't going to be hungry so soon post op. So I've read a few, no many post where people were saying they didn't feel physical hunger until 6 months - a year after surgery. As I read those post, I kept thinking boy, I hope I'm the same way and won't feel hunger for months. Well let me tell you, I'm a week post op and I am h-u-n-g-r-y. I believe the reason I am frequently hungry is because I can only eat 1oz of food at one sitting. A few hours later, I'm hungry again. I thought it was gas bubbles and have ignored them the last couple of days. It took me to talking to another patient to realize I could actually be hungry because I wasn't eating enough. This woman's tummy allows her to eat 3 oz while mine only allows me to eat 1 oz. After giving it some thought, I realized that I'm not eating enough due to my stomach's capacity therefore was feeling hungry once my stomach is empty. Is this normal? While I was sticking to just three meals a day (basically starving myself), should I eat more frequent (1 oz. meals)? Thanks in advance for your input.
  9. Hello, I was sleeved on Monday, June 30th. Upon arriving home on 7/1, I started the stage II pureed/soft mushy food diet. I am only able to eat 1 oz of pureed food where as another woman who had the same surgery on the same day and with the same surgeon can eat 3 oz. What the heck? That's a huge difference when talking ounces. I'm curious, how many ounces were you able to eat a few days post op?
  10. HI, I'm 6 days post op and upon arriving home, I was on on stage II which is soft, mushy, pureed food. I have about 1 oz of cream of wheat. Before going to the hospital, I baked two whole chickens so I puree that for dinner. I still have low carb yogurt, SF popsicles and SF Jello. I hope this helps.
  11. Sugar Free popsicles, sugar free jello, low sodium broth, sugar free pudding, low carb yogurt for the pre op diet.
  12. Congratulations on your decision to have the surgery. Good luck and best wishes!!
  13. @@Lynne1029 I know how you feel about the clothes. Over the years because I've been a yo-yo dieter, I literally have a bunch of clothes for every size from a size 6 to size 16. I'll be alright for a little while. From year to year, I never knew what size I'd be so I just kept all my clothes.
  14. @@eagles321 I heard Tylenol was the best and only thing to take right before surgery. The other two will thin your blood. Good luck and I hope you feel better.
  15. @@butterfyeffect I can't wait for that also. Congratulations on your 35 lbs weight loss. Keep up the good work.
  16. I was constantly on a diet so often times I call myself going to salad bars where you pay per pound. I like all the different selections so I always wanted a little of this and that and well, my eyes are bigger than my stomach so I always overdid it and end up paying over $10.00 for lunch. Well when I am on solid foods after surgery, I can't wait to be able to go to a salad bar and get very little and be satisfied. I always admired the people who get the small containers and have very little in them. I can't wait for that to be me. lol
  17. @@DarbiMolly Girl, you go with your "will power". You are wonderful. Like I keep telling you. You so got this. Your goal weight will be reached in no time. Keep up the good work.
  18. @@DarbiMolly And 20 lbs down you'll be. You totally got this. You go girl. You are an inspiration to us all. Keep up the good work.
  19. @@mrbobb Oh wow. Good for you Mr.Bobb. Tell me, do you feel like you're missing out on this wonderful opportunity? Aren't you curious as to what all the talk is about regarding this liquid protein diet? lol You know you can try it on your own. Hey, what can I say, misery loves company. lol It is amazing how each surgeon have different requirements for different people.
  20. @@BrwnsugabayB lmbo. In my opinion, that's the best part of this phase. All this week, I must have gotten up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom about 10-15 times. Liquid in is liquid out. That is why we are losing so much so fast. We are not putting in fats, carbs, sugars etc. and flushing out alot of liquids and junk. It's a good thing. Imagine if our bodies held on to all the liquid we've been putting into our body. That's why one of the requirements of any weight loss program is to drink lots and lots of Water. It will all be over soon.
  21. You have time to lose the 5 pounds. What are you doing to lose? Perhaps you can add a Protein shake as a Meal Replacement for 1-2 meals and do some like exercise like walking. I'm sure you'll be fine. Most insurance companies/surgeons is more concerned with weight gain opposed to weight lost. There could be a number of reasons why you haven't lost so Im sure they will factor that in. I was told if I didn't lose as long as I didn't gain I would be fine. You'll do it. Let us know how things work out for you. Good luck.
  22. You should be able to do it. Have you been drinking a lot of Water? If your weight loss is what you think is slow, perhaps you can include a little exercise such as walking. You have enough time to lose 7 pounds and I'm sure you'll do it. Please keep us updated. We're rooting for you. Good luck.
  23. Hi, @ How many days do you have to lose the last 7 pounds? I'm sure if you lose any amount of weight they will do the surgery. I heard they just want to make sure you're committed to the plan and can actually put int he effort to lose some weight. If you can lose without the sleeve, you'll be able to make the lifestyle change and lose with the sleeve as a tool. I'm sure you'll be fine. Good luck.
  24. Hi Jaysweet98, Thanks for your response. It's good to know someone else isn't necessarily "suffering" from their pre-op diet. Hopefully a few posts like ours will help ease the minds of others. I may have more but I would have given up all those for a salad in the evening. Just to be able to feel like I am chewing/eating something. I would have loved to work on the eating slowly and chewing a lot. I guess I'll learn through trial and error. Oh well I can't complain as we have started and there's no looking back. Good luck. So I too have started my preop diet on 6/16. Mine is for 3 weeks! You pretty much get more added to your diet then mine. My diet consist of 3 protein shakes (bariatric advantage) and a dry salad (with 2 tsp of vinaigrette). It's not bad at all! I was skeptical of the diet too thinking of being hungry or having hunger headaches, but none yet!!! I have 3 kids (19mos, 7, 9). You right about not being tempted to fall off the diet because the shakes are filling. Well keep it up, we have already started our journey to be on the losers bench!!!
  25. Hi Dexter1118, I am so sorry to read the liquid diet is hard for you. Truth be told, I think it would be hard for anyone to do for 28 days. It may be hard for you but you are doing the damn thing. Congratulations on your 69lbs weight loss. That is awesome and it is definitely working for you. I can definitely relate to that "just one last meal". If you don't mind me asking, what is your pre-op liquid Protein diet like? I am fascinated by your wieght loss and just knowing you will be eating this way for 28 days. Thanks and keep up the good work. You're doing great!!!!!
