Dec 29th sleevers ?
Well I just got a call from my surgeon and since I am on oxygen the chief of Surgery called my surgeon and canceled it. This sucks. 36 hours before surgery and all prepped and ready to go and Blam canceled!!!

Surgery Pushed with 1.5 weeks to go
Was scheduled for the 22nd and arranged people and things. Then I talk to the surgeon's scheduler and UC Irvine had an overbooking of OR's, so I got bumped to the 29th. The waiting is what is killing me. I was ready to start liquid diet Wednesday of this week, now it is pushed a week. Really giving me more time to worry and be scared. This sucks.

Excited to get sleeved, but afraid I will fail
I am in the same boat, I had initial consult today, and am very scared about the same thing. I have been in rehab for BED (Binge Eating Disorder). My friends from there have voiced the same concerns. I also will loose my wife if I go through with it. But if I don't go through with it, I will die in next 10 years. Classic catch 22

Was wondering from the group, what is the average time from initial consultation to surgery? Please don't count insurance delays, just curious on a timeline. Thanks

New to forum, considering the sleeve
I, my name is Steven, I am in Los Angeles and am 46 years old. I have been in both inpatient and outpatient treatment for B.E.D. (Binge Eating Disorder). I have been on every diet you can think of, and nothing has worked. In November, 2012, I contracted MRSA Pnemonia. I have been on oxygen ever since and and basic cold gives me bad bronchitis, which sets me back to zero in my getting off Oxygen. My Pulmonologist has recommended getting the sleeve, my RD and my wife (who is a doctor) do not want me to have the surgery. The Pulmonologist has said I will never get off the oxygen until I loose the weight (about 70-80 lbs.) I am very nervous about the surgery, and am even scared to call the surgeon. Today, my internist recommended the sleeve as well. I am going to make an appointment with the surgeon, but am really scared. The pre-op liquid diet sounds tough, if I can't stick to a basic diet, how am I supposed to handle this? I have sleep apnea and sleep with a CPAP, also have mild diabetes type-2, high BP, and high cholesterol. What about my medications, how will I take them after the surgery? Any support is greatly appreciated.
