  1. I'm in Brandon, Fl and was sleeved in Tampa in 2014. I'm very happy with my results. I,m still not down to my personal goal, but I reached my surgeon's goal for me. I'm still overweight, but no longer morbidly obese.
  2. I live in Brandon, FL (outside of Tampa, FL).
  3. My e-mail box is so full. I've had 7,000 e-mails and I'd don't even know 7,000 people. It makes me want to change my e-mail account, but my husband told me sit down one day and block e-mails that are just spam. Maybe, I won't be kicking back e-mails. Sorry. Dot kick me out. I'm trying to fix it.
  4. I know it's my own fault. I certainly am not able to volume eat anymore. I still want to lose the last 20 lbs., but I can't forego sweets. It's Valentine's Day. then it's Easter. Before that it was Christmas and Halloween. If I could kick the sugar habit, I know I could lose that last 20 lbs. I've gained 10 lbs and it's bothering me. I went through hell to get this surgery. Now I need to get to my goal weight of 135.
  5. I dealt with hair loss when I was taking chemotherapy for my MS. I don't know why I would have hair loss over this procedure. Who knows. I try to follow the food plan and concentrate on Protein above all others. I'm going back in because I have had too much nausea and I'm going to have the tube between my stomach and my intestines stretched. Never heard of that before, but my SIL said my MIL had it done every three months.

  7. I'm doing the pure clear liquid diet. I'm only on Day 3, so I know I can hang on. I hung on for the Protein drinks. I'll just keep hopping on here and complaining. My incisions make it difficult to stand up and sit down. It's hard to get out of bed, but I need to pee every 30 minutes.
  8. I'm on Day 3 of Clear liquids. The liquids I chose don't taste like I remember them. chicken broth does not taste like the chicken broth I have had in the past. What happened to my taste buds? Nothing tastes the same. They gave me a liquid meal in the hospital before I left and none of it was edible. I used to love rainbow sherbet, but this sherbet was terrible. I ate nothing. I've still only nibbled on chicken broth and sugar free Jello. I don't have an appetite of any kind. I don't know what that's about.
  9. Nicholas: I'm having trouble with the broth because it tastes different than I remembered. I used to love chicken broth. Now it tastes different. Everything tastes hot and spicy.
  10. I arrived at the hospital on Thursday for my sleeve surgery and they filled me full of liquids while I was awaiting the surgery and then afterwards. They were freaking out because my body wasn't eliminating the fluids the way they wanted it to. They sent me a plate full of liquid diet food and none of it was tasty enough to eat. I guess that's how you lose weight, nothing tastes any good. I guess this is what I wanted.
  11. Tomorrow is August 28, 2014 so I'm packing my overnight bag and getting ready to be at the hospital at 11:00 a.m. I will be sleeved at noon. My husband said he can't come and get me until 4:00 p.m. on Friday because he has to work until 3:30 p.m. They won't let me leave unless someone comes to get me. He thinks I'm very brave. I think we all are brave.
  12. I picked up the Iman pill. It wasn't covered by insurance and it cost $88.00. I was sent the post-op nutrition program which is exactly what I've read on this site. Clear liquids for day 1 - 5. Then other liquids like Protein shakes. Then mushies or pureed food for 2 weeks.
  13. My surgery is 3 days away and the Dr.'s office has not called in the anti-nausea drug I'm supposed to take night. It's hard to get to a real person at his office. I get the answering machine.
  14. Hi Pam: I haven't been sleeved yet. I'm 3 days away. I'll be sleeved on Thursday at noon. I'm nervous, but I know I'll get through it. I'm just agitated that the anti-nausea med I'm supposed to take Wednesday night before I go to sleep hasn't been called in to the pharmacy. The post-op diet hasn't been given to me or e-mailed to me. I'm getting a little peeved at that office. I can certainly be your buddy.
  15. I called the pharmacy to see if the anti-nausea pill the Dr. said he was calling in for me was ready and they said they had no prescription. Great! Surgery is 3 days away and trying to reach a real person at the Dr.'s office isn't easy. Everything is computers. Not people. I finally got through to someone who said she was so, so, sorry that my med hadn't been called in and she said she would email me the post-op diet, but neither has happened.
  16. Your are awesome. I didn't think I could ever get rid of my big fat arms. I thought I would be stuck with them for life. I think yours were in better shape than mine from jump street. I'm still going to try to firm then up.
  17. I'm 53 and just went to pre-op this a.m. I was given to grainy looking brown bars of soap. I was told to shower with the night before surgery and again the morning of surgery. It's mainly concerned with the stomach being super clean and disinfected. I was told to show up at 11:00 a.m. the day of surgery to in comfortable clothes and to bring 2 pairs of clean underwear because I would be spending the night. Surgery will start at noon.
  18. I've been doing my Protein shakes religiously and surgery is 7 days off. I have pre-op tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. It's getting real.
  19. I saw my surgeon today. He wasn't that upset that I haven't lost that much weight. He told me to just keep drinking the opti-fast drinks until surgery and not to have any solid food until Thursday. I'm doing it. I'm not cheating. I'm having 4 drinks per day even though I was told to drink 5 drinks a day, I'm not hungry for the 5th one.
  20. I go to pre-op tomorrow at 9:30 .m. Saw the surgeon today. He told me solids until the surgery next Thursday, 8/28/14.
  21. I was weighed in today at Dr. DiCicicco's office and it doesn't appear that I've lost any weight. He told me to have no solids until after surgery next Thursday. He didn't appear to be upset. He told me to only drink the drinks until next Thursday. Pre-op is at the hospital tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. The hospital said they could do pre-op on the day of surgery, but the Dr.'s office said they want it done the week before surgery.
  22. I haven't read any posts that sounded bullying, etc., but I'm 53 and I've been through OA and FAA and nothing surprises me and I've heard and seen it all (generally speaking). I have thick skin now.
  23. That's different. All of mine is directly through the practice's office. They do their surgery at a specific hospital and they told us that at the seminar we had to go through back in March, 2014.
  24. I've been doing my Protein drink diet for 5 days and I've only lost 2 lbs. I know they're looking for more weight loss than that. I have to be weighed in today and register at the hospital. It's on.
  25. I know your period comes right on schedule. In 2004, I was in intensive care because I got a blood clot. Just arrived when I was in the hospital and all my stuff was at home. They wouldn't let me leave. It was all Kotex pads until I got home.
