  1. I started out at 245 in August and lost 14 lbs prior to surgery. I wasn't working very hard at it until my 2 week liquid diet. I weighed 231 on the day of surgery (9/13/05) at 5'4". I think my BMI was 42. I'm now down to 203. Dividing 42 lbs by 19 weeks is an average of 2.21 lbs a week, so I think I'm par for the course. Mine goes in fits and starts though. For example, I've lost 12 lbs this month, but only lost 4 lbs the month before. :cry I can't quite figure that one out!
  2. Not go to the gynecologist even though I am at high risk for cervical cancer. I didn't want to subject the doctor to looking at my HUGE @$$. Sigh...

When do you start to KNOW it's there??

I felt it there when I recently came down with a cold at 3.5 weeks out and tried to take dayquil liquidtabs. Holy COW did I feel it! Yipes. I could literally feel it go through the band (once it decided to go through). Other than that, I don't notice it's there. I'm not overcome with hunger ever and I'm only having 3 Protein shakes and a mushy dinner (at almost 5 weeks out), so I suppose I must have some sort of restriction because I'm not hungry.

Just back from the Emerg Room.

Actually you still can develop stones in your bile duct (it's still there, trust me. Mine was nicked when I had my gallbladder removed and caused me a 3 week stay in the hospital). I still have problems in my bile ducts. While on 'vacation' in the hospital, one of my roommates was admitted due to having a stone in her bile duct and she was deathly ill. She'd had her gallbladder removed years prior to that. It's rare, but it can still happen. /end of public service announcement. tee hee

    Is anyone Else this crazy??

Darned near every night I ask hubby if I can lick his steak (chicken, pizza, whatever he's having). I'm sure he's thinking "this was funny the first time, but come ON!" I'm kidding when I say it, of course. Well, maybe.....

What kinds of exercise do you do?

I have a mini trampoline that I park in front of the TV and jog/dance for a half an hour while I watch Dr. Phil. I just got to the point where I can exercise without hurting too much (I'm two weeks out of surgery) and this is perfect for me right now. 3 days in a row and I hope to continue doing it daily.

    Can We Talk About Sex?

One week here. I couldn't wait any longer. My abs were sore too, but no regrets!
  10. I'm a closet bandster. Only my hubby, sister, mother-in-law and a TRUSTED co-worker who also had WLS knows. I've told my employer that I had hernia surgery and now I'm telling everyone that I lost so much weight from "not feeling like eating" after surgery that it's encouraged me to diet. I'm sort of regretting telling the co-worker because it would be very easy for it to slip. But I'll cross that bridge if I get to it. I do not plan to tell anyone else unless I find out that they're going to have WLS. I just didn't want to deal with the prejudice. I had to deal with the liquid phase for the first time yesterday. I was at a company event where Breakfast and lunch was provided. I showed up late, avoiding breakfast. For lunch, I told my manager that I was still tired from surgery (true- it was only 9 days out) and wanted to go lay down in my car. I drank my Protein shake there. I'm lucky that I telecommute 3 days a week and only have to be in the office 2 days a week, so it's very easy to avoid the lunch invites. Congrats on your date, and good luck!

I'm new here, planning to have lap-band through Dr. Fox's office. How much of a smack-down do you get if you don't comply with the 3oz of food a day? I'm not necessarily interested in fast weight loss- just long term weight loss. I will certainly try to do the program, because obviously he's found success with it. I'm just not as interested in the quick results. I've chosen his office because they seem to know what they're doing AND the location is convenient for me.
