I paid $7000 for this band in July 2005 and got down to 154 from 211. But over the years I have just gone back to my old habits and learned how to eat around the band. I now take in as many calories as I use to when I was 211 pds just in different foods. I think I am mentally ill or something. I can't stop eating. Even though it hurts so bad. I have made myself so ill in the past I ended up in the hospital twice with dehydration because even though I get sick when the food stops I just keep eating, spitting up and easting more. The tissue under the band swells shut and I can't even keep small amounts of Water down. My surgery was in Mexico and no Dr's will see me here (Utah) I have the fills done (use to anyway) in a hospital radiology dept. but they don't know much about the band, diet etc. Is there any hope for me? Do I need mental health counseling? Please HELP

As sad as it is I'm glad I'm not alone. I am in the exact same place. Anxiety problems, depression and a life time of it. I really don't have much of a life, food is my comforter and mostly my only enjoyment. I was banded and got down to 154 but am back up to 190 and feeling bad about my self again.

I also could not keep even Water done for along time until I was so dehydrated that I ended up in the emergency room, my hair fell out for months and I felt terrible. I lost 11 pds in 12 days. I'm not sure you need to have it removed but just have it emptied as I did gained 10 to 15 pds back but feel much better now. Good luck, things will get better for you.

I had my surgery done by Dr Ortez in Mexico it was a great expierence I felt very well taken care of from the time they picked me up in San Deigo all the way through testing and recovery. Some people worry about Mexico and the cleanliness but it was GREAT.

My friend had gastric bypass and did GREAT, my BMI is 35 and the Lap Band seems much less invasive however the weight loss also seems lower and slower any ideas from those who have researched the differences?

Thanks Nancy and all others for your information, I do appreciate all your help. I went to the Lap Band seminar in my area (Sandy,Utah) last night learned tons and getting so excited hopfully the insurance will approve if not I think I will self pay. Thanks again for the support.

Hi I'm Linda in Sandy, It's been two months for you now how is everything going? I'm just starting to look into Lap Band or maybe by pass not sure yet any ideas on which one is best?
