  1. Wednesday I received the pre-approval as a good candidate for a lap band from Dr Weaver in Memphis, TN. Today I saw my PCP doctor and she faxed copies of my medical record to Dr. Weaver. She is typing up a formal referral letter for insurance purposes. She is also referring me for an Upper-GI as requested by Dr. Weaver. I will look for my psychologist this week to have my evaluation and MMPI completed. Hopefully in the next 2 weeks I will have what I needed sent to Dr. Weaver so I can make an appointment to see the Nutritionist and Dr Weaver. Here I go...to join the Banders Club. 3. Yes, I can relate. One thing different though, my mother has passed and the messages are still in my head. From early ages to present my family says to me "when are you going to loose that weight" versus saying hello. I have made a decision not to tell my family, except my husband and inlaws. They support this 100% and I have gathered support from a family of choice. People need to walk a mile in "our shoes" to see the heart we incur...maybe they would stop being so cruel. Please take care of yourself....despite the negative comments of family. Can relate,
  4. As an update, Got my pre approval as a candidate for the lap band Wednesday. Went to my PCP today and had my medical information faxed to Dr Weaver/Memphis, TN. Requested a referral for an Upper-GI and found a psychologist for me evaluation. Moving along.
  5. I am an Addiction Therapist. I am curious what kinds of medication you are on for your Panic Attacks.....they she would suggest addiction. Sharon/Memphis
  6. Jane, Thanks, I will check it out. Sharon
  7. Can someone help me get to the areas to choose some of the pictures to display about being on my journey to the lapband, etc.
  8. I am seeing more 50+ individuals and this gives me support. I flop from am I too old, to do this or why not, everything else I am doing is okay. I am in graduate school again getting a second master's degree. I love it, and am hope for the same feelings about getting the lap band. Tired of being overweight, limited to what I can do, because of the weight, want to be in smaller clothing, and HEALTHY.
  9. Hey, Just checking in after class tonight. Been fighting a cough and cold. Finished my application and hope to get it in the mail tomorrow or take it to the office myself. At least that process is over. Linda and I are searching for protein "chocolate drinks." Got any ideas?
  10. I am still researching the protein drinks. My step son told me today the WHEY protein drinks are good, especially the chocolate ones. He knows how much I like chocolate. I think I will ask at the Support Group next week what some of them are using? I remember the old days of powered drinks for dieting and they tasted YUCKY.
  11. Hey Linda, I finally finished my application today and am going to get it to the clinic in the next day or so. I am also a CHOCOHOLIC. My husband tells my friends I "IV chocolate. I have suffered from weight problems since 3rd grade. I don't know about you, but I rollercoaster with emotions of the unknown about this surgery and post-op. One of the reasons I stay in touch with the forum, is because of support and answers to questions. I hope to attend a lecture or 2 to hear more information. Sharon/Memphis
  12. Linda, I am in TN about 3.5 hrs from Nashville. I haven't completed all my journey to the actual surgery yet. If you would like to email me my address is: Sdaviscs@comcast.net Sharon
  13. My journey for lap banding is just starting. I am at it wits in with my weight. I have struggled with my weight since I was in 3rd grade due to severe abuse in my home. My mother had me seen by a weight doctor at this time, but didn't address the abuse. I entered eating disorder treatment twenty years ago, lost 40 lbs, but gained it back plus another 100. I am miserable, and desire to do something about this problem. I have a supportive husband and a support group around me, ready to start the journey. Sd:omg:
