  1. I wish I liked green beans:/ I have tried so any times and I just can't do it
  2. Come to think of it, how are everyone's incisions??
  3. That's great about your pants!!! I haven't put on blue jeans or slacks because my incisions are still really tender. So I have been wearing yoga pants and pjs. I'm on medical leave from work til the 12th and I have my post op visit coming up this Tuesday and I can't wait to see where I am and what my doctor says:) I took extra time off work because I work in a very fast pace, high stress environment and I want to relax and recover. Plus the fatigue gets overwhelming at times
  4. Yay you totally can!!!! Great job!!!!!
  5. I just realized I can tell a difference in weight in my face. The left picture was when a friend visited me when I was in the hospital still at 1 day post op and the right was just taken a few min ago:)
  6. Looks like we are all 10 days:) I have to see my surgeon Tuesday and he will clear me for puréed foods, 4 weeks of that before I can have soft foods, 2 weeks of soft foods before I start "mechanically soft" foods and a week of that before I'm clear to add "regular" foods to my diet and when I start soft foods I was told I could start to slowly introduce alcohol in the form of non-carbonated drinks into my diet. And only little bits at a time. Ahhh to be normal again....lol
  7. I really is temporary and when we can all eat again but we are half the person we were we will look back and know this was all worth it. That's what keeps me motivates. But yeah time is going by SOOOO SLOW:/
  8. I am so over the liquid diet too:/ I don't want to stuff my face, but I want to be able to go out to my social events, restaurants and not have to say, it's ok I'll just sip my tea (since I already drank my protein before I went).
  9. I am 10 days post op too. I didn't eat a bowl, just 2 small bites and my belly feels FULL! I don't think I am quite depressed but just down. I had to make a birthday cake last night for my friend and it wasn't the cake that bugged me, when I got there there was a huge table of crackers, cheese, summer sausage, dips, toasties, fruit BLAH!!! I didn't stay long and all my friends are out at the bar celebrating her birthday now and I opted to stay home and told myself that I'm sacrificing the short term for the long term
  10. Haha!! That's funny because I am making dinner for my daughter. Homemade baked chicken tenders greenbeans and mashed potatoes and I took a couple bites of the potatoes and OMG!!!! It was amazing!!!
  11. My starting weight was 262 and I weighed myself today at 243.4 and I am 8 days post op....I am terrified to start eating food again. I have this fear that I won't continue losing weight:( that I would gain everything back. I have a meeting with my surgeon on the 6th so he can assess my healing and clear me for puréed foods. As much as I would love to have solid foods, I'm scared. I guess I will discuss these concerns with him. I just have this horrible feeling that my surgery won't work and I will never get to my goal. I can't even picture myself at a healthy weight.
  12. Oh wow!!! No...I am new to the forum so I didn't know her!! That's terrible!!!! My prayers go out to her family:'( I had my gallbladder removed a little over a year ago so I know what kind of GI complications can arise from that, and having this surgery done on top of that, I can only imagine:(
  13. These are the times that I wish I could eat tomato soup:/ I hear it's VERY satisfying. I made spaghetti and meat sauce for my daughter and me a choc shake with half 2% and half water, put it in the freezer and eating it with a spoon like ice cream and it's going down pretty well:)
  14. Not that I can see but you could probably look that up online
  15. As many times as I find out how much it hurts to take too big of a drink, I still do it sometimes:/ I don't know why. As soon as it hurts I tell my self "oh yeah" ugh!
  16. My NUT told me I had to have liquid or chewable vitamins, I wasn't allowed pills. I like this better than any pill and will probably use it for life:)
  17. I didn't want to type it all out so here are pictures of the bottle showing what's in it:)
  18. I had the same thing happen to me today at work. I am 6 days post op and today was my first day back at work. I was told I wasn't getting enough protein. I'm not supposed to go on full liquids till tomorrow but my doctor said it would be ok if I started tonight with a protein shake. My boss let me lay my head down at my desk for as long as I needed. I didn't think going back to work would take this much out of me.
  19. Not a problem:) I was so thankful to have never had to take the chewables....I had to share:)
  20. I'm in the Houston area and would be interested
  21. I have cleared this with my surgeon and NUT. It's a liquid Multivitamin and absorbs better in your new stomach as opposed to the yucky chewable ones that are hard to keep down. I can say that I am SO glad I found it! I found it at GNC on sale (buy one get one half off). The guy at the counter let me sample it before I bought it and I was amazed. It's called "Sea Essentials" and the flavor I have is "sea berry". I Actually let my bariatric coordinator try it when I was out of surgery. She couldn't believe how good it tastes either and will now be recommending it to all her other patients. I think it's like $20 a bottle for 32oz, and so worth it!! Which is why I had to share with all of you:) I have heard too many of you talking about how disgusted you are with your multivitamin. Enjoy guys!!
  22. Well, the soreness is going away little by little and so is the gas. I am having a terrible time getting much protein and I have felt good til this afternoon, I feel really weak and tired. I have lost 17 lbs to date and I haven't felt hungry at all. I have head hunger today because I feel weak I guess. Right now I am trying to drink a glass of isopure and it doesn't taste bad, but the feeling it leaves in my mouth is strange, kinda hard to handle. I can't wait to start back on my protein shakes Wednesday.
  23. Hope everyone who was scheduled today went smooth. Updates as soon as you guys are up to it.
  24. You have to focus on the positive. It's really not as miserable afterward. I mean I hurt but that's going to be over in a few days and I get to start my new way of living and I'm excited! Thank you!! Yea it's hard with little ones BC they don't understand. I try to tell her mommy gas a ouchie but she wants to see and I'm afraid that would just scare her:/
  25. Hey everyone:) my surgery was approved by my insurance really fast (consultation was in mid march and I had my surgery Wednesday, April 23rd. I spent 2 nights in the hospital and I am at home in my recliner relaxing on the pain meds. My pre op diet was 10 days of liquids and 3 protein shakes a day. I was MISERABLE!! I cheated on day 6 and then threw a little gym time in my pre op diet for the last 4 days. I was in the OR by 11 and 2 hours later I was in recovery 1 and moved to recovery 2 as soon as I was responding to wait for my room. I am not going to lie and say this isn't painful, because it is but my high appetite and food cravings were always my issues and I am amazed how non existent my appetite is. Thursday morning I had an upper GI test to check for leaks and since I passed I was cleared for clear liquids. I ate 2 small bites of jello, 4-5 spoons of chicken broth, 2 sips of unsweetened tea and I was FULL. I love this and I am extremely excited for my journey ahead. The only downfall for me is I have a 19 month old daughter who doesn't understand why mommy can't play and wrestle with her like usual. A couple weeks and all should change in that area:)
