  2. I am 5 weeks post-op and have been getting this sharp, shooting pain in my right side just below my ribs for the last 2-3 weeks. The pain is so intense it takes my breath away. There is nothing that triggers the pain; it seems to come and go out of nowhere. I've asked my surgeon about it twice and he said it's nothing to worry about as long as I'm not running a fever. The pain was so bad and so persistent yesterday I was considering going to the ER. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm beginning to wonder if it's something completely unrelated to the surgery.
  3. I'm near Williamsburg. I had my surgery May 5th with Dr. Clark in Newport News.
  4. Hi Kelly! My name is Lisa and I'm from VA too. Where in VA are you and who is your surgeon? I'm scheduled for surgery on May 5th. Sorry, I can't help you with your insurance question. I have CareFirst BCBS and the process from initial consult to surgery date took exactly 2 months. My only requirement was psychological testing and a BMI of 40+. Best of luck to you!
  5. Thanks for the replies everyone! I'll post an update after orientation next week, as I'm sure that's when they'll explain the entire outpatient process.

  7. I'm scheduled for surgery on May 5th and it will be outpatient. Anyone else have their surgery outpatient, and if so, any details you could share would be appreciated (i.e. how your day went, pain level, etc.)? I have orientation next week and I'm sure I'll be given LOTS of information, but I'm just really curious.
