Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
Day 2 done! I kept the speed the same as well (3.5 and 4.5). I was tired when I was done, but not exhausted. I am actually kind of enjoying this. Well, week 1 anyway! haha I did 15 more minutes of cardio on the elliptical when I was done running and then some weights. I bet I'll be feeling it tomorrow. Great job everyone! Glad you all here doing this with me. I get anxious to log on so I can see how everyone is doing.

Bonnie - I totally agree with Renewed! You are a beautiful lady at both sizes. I only wish I had some "skinny" pics to show. I have always been big. Well I totally went off the deep end yesterday. I ate SO much crap! My husbands cousin passed away yesterday and it was a sad sad day. He was only 35. Cancer... *sigh* Not that it was a good excuse to eat crap, but I'm using it! ha! Today was much better. I was a good Atkins girl. I also just have to share... We went shopping today because I needed some clothes for the funeral. I have been wearing my huge clothes and just being too cheap to buy anything else. Well, I bought a pair of size 16 pants today. A 16 is the smallest I have ever worn for my entire adult life! I was in high school last time I wore that size. YEAH!

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
Whosya - Thanks for looking out for us! I'm always open to hearing what others have to say, especially if they have been there and done that! You have come a long way. Congrats on all of your success! You are an inspiration.

whosyadaddy - hmmm, interesting! You are right, I shouldn't push it too much. I imagine in a few weeks I'll be griping how hard it is! I think I'll take your advice and keep the speeds at 3.5 snd 4.5. I really don't want to injure myself.

Yes I am a nurse. I am working about 32 hours a week right now because I have to! My hubby was in a car accident at work on March 31 and has not been able to return to work yet because of a back injury. Good job getting yourself back in ketosis! Maybe it is because I bought cheapo walmart ketone sticks that my stick wont change past small. hahahah just kidding.

Oh so scared
You can do this if you WANT to do this. You will need to eliminate those things from your fridge that call your name at snack time. In my opinion, it doesn't really matter if hubby doesn't gain weight when he eats things that aren't good for him. They aren't good for him OR you and they need to go! I do all of the grocery shopping in my house so when I decided to change my lifestyle I changed the way I shopped. Instead of chips and Cookies and candies and ice cream now I buy fresh fruit and veggies and Jello and sugar free puddings and 100 cal packs of popcorn. I also have a huge assortment of tea because I find if I sip on hot tea with some splenda in it that it keeps my snacking minimal. I'm not saying that you never get to eat a yummy treat again. You just need to keep them few and far between or else you wont see the results you are hoping for. So, dont be scared. Just make up your mind! Once you have made up your mind, you can do anything!

I paid between $6 and $7 for 50 ketone sticks at Walmart. They actually are helping to keep me on track. Last night at work they brought in this big platter of brownies and peanut butter cookies and left them sitting on the nurses station. What is wrong with them? Don't they know I'm not eating that stuff? HAHAHA Well, those things had to go! And NOT in my mouth! I moved them over to the break room and stayed away from that room all evening long. Had I not been doing low carb I would have had a little taste, but I had to make sure my ketone stick changed color this morning! hahah I have such a love/hate relationship with this eating plan. I feel great and I'm losing weight, but it is super hard to stay dedicated. I'm down another 1/2 pound this morning. YAY!

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
I wish we could afford to get a treadmill for home. I would become an addict! haha I don't know what is up with my 1 year old because a few months ago she didn't mind the child watch at all. She must be at the age of separation anxiety or something. I am going to up my times to 3.5 and at least 5 for day two. I know this is going to get harder as the times increase, but I at least want it to be a challenge right now. 3.3 and 4.5 were fairly easy for me. Have I said how awesome this is to be doing this with other people??

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
I am late posting this cause of my crazy schedule. I don't get off work until 11:30 and then a 45 min drive home. Blah! I managed day 1 with pretty much ease. I really still have no idea what I should have the speed set to so I am sure I went too slow. I did the walk at 3.3 and the jog at 4.5. I think I will bump that up for day 2. Even at the slow speed I was still quite proud that I did it. For the first time in my adult life I actually enjoy exercise! I wanted to stay at the gym and do more, but my kiddo's were not cooperating in the child watch. I have a 15 year old (she is doing the running program with me!) a 2 year old and a 1 year old. ALL girls! Aren't I lucky?!?!? hahah My 1 year old cried the entire time I was on the treadmill so I had to leave as soon as I was done.

Hmmmm, I am baffled by the ketone sticks! I have been dedicated to 20 or less carbs since Tuesday but my stick still only says that I have a small amount of ketones. I thought that it would have moved on up to moderate by now. Literally all I have eaten is eggs, meat, cheese, salad and 1 atkins shake a day. Maybe I will only ever produce a small amout of ketones?? On a good note.... no wait... a FABULOUS note.... I am down 2.5 pounds this week! AND that places me at 199! YAY!!!!!! That is what I wanted to accomplish for this week and I am SO happy. I'm going to keep the carbs under 20 for at least 1 more week and see what happens. I like losing 2.5 lbs in a week. It sure beats my .5 or 1 lb which has been my usual! Thanks for this thread and for the support!

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
I have been thinking about starting this program for a long time. I kind of promised myself I would start when I got below 200 pounds. Hmmm... I guess I am pretty much there. Not sure why I am so hesitant to start. I can't even picture myself having the ability to run! It just doesn't seem possible. Anyways, I will give it a shot. I'm super afraid that I wont be able to do it! Do you plan on doing this on a treadmill or outside? If you are walking or jogging on a treadmill, what is considered a brisk walk and a jog number wise? I know I probably sound dumb asking this stuff... lol but I truly am exercise stupid! Would a brisk walk be like 3.0 and a jog be 4.0 or is that entirely too slow?

lyn - I'm so sorry to hear about your mother in law. I have done great for the last couple of days and I am quite happy with myself. Like I said before, low carb is hard! But I am so determined to see 199 on Monday! Question for you guys.... with the ketone stick things..... If you have a small amount or moderate amount of ketones, is that enough? Does it have to be a large amount in order to lose weight? I have at least a small amount possibly even moderate, but I find the silly sticks hard to read. LOL

Low Carb Banders Unite
OK I am on board again with the low carb. Not because I want to, but because I have to! Slow losing is driving me crazy. I want my scale to say 199 on Monday morning when I weigh. I had my daugther hide my scale from me until then. hahah So, my plan is to stay below 20 carbs/day for at least 2 weeks and then slowly add some back in. I'm glad you all are here for support cause low carb is HARD!

Countdown to Onederland!
I feel like I am NEVER gonna get there. I am stuck at 202 - 203. Every pound lost is such a struggle. I have good restriction, I eat healthy foods, I exercise. Just give me a 199 already!

June Exercise Challenge
Well, I decided to push myself to run today. I am such a dork! hahah I hop on the treadmill and I start going. Just a slow jog. I go for awhile, then walk a bit then back to the jog. I'm done with a mile before I know it. Then I realize I am completely nauseated. I get off and start walking around a bit and my chest starts hurting. What in the world was I thinking?!?!? While I am impressed that I can actually run that much I could kick myself for pushing that hard. I'm not a runner! I am a wanna be runner. So, I guess I need to take it a little slower. As for the goals I made for the month... hmmm it is highly unlikey I am going to achieve them. I have 315 minutes out of 600 cardio and 4/8 strength training. I'm not giving up yet, but I doubt I'll make it....

Popcorn - Does it go down for you?
I enjoy the 100 calorie packs of popcorn for an occasional special treat. I have no problems with it, but like other posters have said, chew carefully and go slow just like all foods

June Exercise Challenge
I do suffer from plantar faschitis in my right heel. I am on my feet alot between working almost full time as a nurse and chasing after 3 girls! I bought a very expensive pair of shoes for work and it helped tremendously, so I know that money spent on shoes is money well spent. I'm sure that losing almost 60 pounds has helped too! When I first started this weight loss journey I was 262 pounds and my big goal for exercise was that I wanted to be able to run. My sister in law runs marathons and I am so envious. I doubt I will ever be able to run a marathon... that sounds so outrageous! But I guess you never know. For now I will be happy with building up to doing a 5K. Even that sounds like a stretch for me. But I am determined!

June Exercise Challenge
I don't think there is a Scheels around here. I did a quick search for it online and didn't come up with anything. I have never heard of it. I did find a running store in Richmond called Road Runner. Maybe I can check that out. That would probably be better then a plain sporting goods store like Dick's, right? I sure am running shoe dumb! haha This will be the first time I have ever bought any in my whole life. It sounds crazy to me!

June Exercise Challenge
I am excited to report that I kicked my own butt at the gym today. haha I got in 60 minutes of cardio (combination of elliptical, treadmill and bike) AND I did the weights as well. I'm tired tonight for sure. I need to find some good shoes for running. Any suggestions? I dont think I can afford $100+. I am almost below 200 pounds and I have been telling myself that I would start running once I made it below 200. I acutally ran a bit on the treadmill today. I felt like and idiot! But I did it anyway. Salsa - I guess you got all of your grading done? Have a fun time camping and go easy on your running so you can heal up!

June Exercise Challenge
Hey everyone. Well, I joined this challenge hoping it would give me some motivation to stay on track. I have been lazy lazy LAZY! So far I only have 135 minutes out of 600 of cardio done and 1 out of 8 strength training. Boy do I stink at the exercise! There, I admitted it! SO, now I am going to kick it in to high gear. I can still make this goal this month. I think.....
