  1. Hi, Because of my sleep apnea and had only been on my cpap machine for two weeks they did use the tube down my throat. That was done after I went under the drugs. Unfortunately I came out of the meds quicker than they realized so I was awake when they took it out. They did warn me that if I was awake not to get excited, to remain calm and not try to talk, the vibration of the vocal cords on the tube makes for the sore throat. HOWEVER my surgery had been delayed by two hours - had I known that I was not going to have a catheter I would have asked to use the restroom!!!
  2. I was put on the Opti-fast diet for two weeks. It was based on my BMI, I was allowed 5 drinks and two of the protein bars a day. I was down 20 lbs the day of my surgery.
  3. I was banded on 10/3 and was wondering if it was just me! I'm not so much starving, but I've been testing the waters with soft solids. So far I've not experienced any issues, but my concern was that I haven't experienced any further weight loss.
  4. I got my band on 10/3 too! Although I am feeling pretty good I do have some discomfort from my port from time to time. When I talked to the nurses they stated that it was a common statement from other patients.
  5. I had my surgery on 10/3, I guess I was one of the lucky ones I was up and about the day after surgery. On 10/5 my husband and I were running errands. I do have tenderness at the port area but nothing more than a 2 on the pain scale. Best wishes!
  6. For me the decision to go with the band was very personal choice, but I did share with my children (19 and 13), and a few choice - supportive- friends.
