  1. It's my first day back home. Thankfully the doctor went in and cleared out my stricture so I'm back to liquids now. Still have an abscess thats healing. I plan to get on my scale tomorrow morning.
  2. I had surgery 7/8 with hernia repair was in the hospital until the 12th then back again sunday thru Wednesday for a stricture. I've had a lot of pain. I also have an abscess that's painful. So I can understand being on pain meds. Im also on 2 nausea meds.
  3. I haven't been weighing as I spent Sunday thru Wednesday in the hospital.
  4. My surgeon came to see me. I started vomiting while talking to him. He's going to do an endoscopy tomorrow morning. He changed the frequency of my meds. And hopefully tomorrow will figure out what's going on.
  5. Either swollen area where the intestine meets the pouch or stricture. Im waiting to see my surgeon today when he makes his rounds to ask for some tests.
  6. Imback in the hospital as of yesterday. Surgery was 7/8 48 hours of vomiting and npo for 72.
  7. I'm back in the hospital on ivs and meds via iv. Still vomiting up bile. My surgeon thinks it's too soon for a stricture. I'll be 2 weeks out tomorrow. He thinks it's just swelling. So he's keeping me here until it stops.
  8. I'm 12 days out and as of last night started throwing up. I had this issue in the hospital apparently the area where my pouch and intestines meet swells shut. My surgeon is giving me til 5pm to get in fluids and keep them in otherwise its back to the hospital and ivs. Advice please because I really don't want to go back. My first stay was 5 days. I also have a home health nurse who's treating an abscess so I don't want to go in with open wounds. Thanks-Leena
  9. Leaking incisions are not a normal part of healing. They are generally abscess. I have one right now. My surgeon had to open it, clean it out and pack it on Monday. Im on a course of antibiotics and have a visiting nurse who comes out daily to change the packing and clean it. I've had surgeries before (band and band removal) incisions draining need to be taken seriously and treated. Please get a second opinion.
  10. I would have built up my protein stores more, as in increased the grams of it I was getting in pre-op. I would have also had a plan incase of complications. Because I ended up with complications, longer hospital stay and now a home health nurse. I have 3 kids so it makes it easier and more challenging at the same time.
  11. Im 11 days post op and 10 pounds from surgery day weight. In the hospital I gained 23 pounds of Water weight. So I lost that 23 pounds of water and 10 pounds of my actual weight. Im 5'5" tall. I was 198.2 and am now 188. I'm also a revision so I expect a slower loss. Im also a lower BMI patient and have less to loose. If I lost 20 pounds in 10 days I'd worry. You really have to go by your body, bmi and where you're loosing the weight.
  12. Wow Allforkarya it's falling off you too. I wasn't expecting to loose so quickly as I'm a revision from a band.
  13. Does it feel hard underneath the skin there? Is the area warm feeling underneath? If you push on it does more puss come out? If the answers are yes, then you have an abscess and need to call your surgeon to have it drained. You may or may not have a fever with it as well.
  14. It seems there are a lot of us who had surgery during these dates. Im curious how weight loss has been for others? Can you reply with Surgery date Starting weight (day of surgery- I know some retain Water post op) Current weight with day # Pounds lost I think im loosing too fast so I'm curious to see if it's the norm. I did end up gaining. Here's mine 7/8/14 198.2 188.1 (day 11) 10 (I still have edema) Thanks- Leena
  15. Branstuff I had 24 pounds of water retension. Today will be 1 week that im home from the hospital(after a 5 day stay)and I still have puffy feet. When you're sitting down or sleeping be sure to elevate your legs. 3 days ago my body started letting go of water. Be sure to stay near a bathroom as you'll need it.
  16. Mine is a giant unknown date because of complications. I have a home health nurse and my teenager taking care of me. I need to be better by labor dau weekend as he goes back to school then. Otherwise Ill end up with a home health aide.
  17. My surgeon reopened the abscess today. He also wants me to get bloodwork tomorrow and may send me for a cat scan. I see him again Tuesday. He also changed my pain med- percocet was making me have nightmares. He changed my diet as well to diluted fruit juice (not the norm for bypass) but he wants to see if I can tolerate it as I'm having problems tolerating anything today with the exception of wanter.
  18. I have to go back to my surgeon tomorrow. The abscess he opened monday started to close, so my home health nurse couldn't fit the packing into it. But when she applied pressure to the area fluid runs out quickly. Still on clear liquids here. Lots of us are July 8th bypassers.
  19. Pixers call your doctor and let them know you're running low on pain meds. I was freaking out about that as well and actually logged my meds to see how long they were going to last as I had 20 percocet. Also to make surebi was taking everything and not forgetting or overdosing on anything. I have 9 meds. My scripts were written before surgery, with the expected outcome that I'd have a normal recovery. My script say 1-2 tablets every 4 hours as needed for pain. I've been home just over 3 days 82 hours. I'm stretching my pills and realized it's hurting me more. I'm taking my nausea med as needed but it has refills im not worried but I think im more nauseous because of the pain. Im only taking one percocet every 7-8 hours. I realized I have to put a call in to my surgeon about it. I was doing better at the hospital, but then again I was getting 2 different pain meds via iv every 4 or 6 hours because I had breakthrough pain. I had more than just the bypass-a surprise hernoa repair in there. And have an abscess and woke up from a nap with a new wet spot on my shirt with a second abscess. I had an allergic reaction to dilouttid and have 2 meds for a massive rash on my trunk and arms. Im also a conversion from bans to bypass with damage from my band in there, mainly adhesions and scar tissue, that had to be "cleaned up". So for a non complicated bypass patient maybe 20 pain pills is enough but when you stack on complications its not. I know when I had my band put in in 2007 I didnt use all my pills. When I had it removed in April I was prescribed even fewer pills. So somewhere I have probably 5 pills if I didn't throw them out. Please call your surgeon.
  20. My abscess draining cleaning and packing was horrible. I now have a home health nurse who comes out to change the packing daily. I have to change the outter dressing every 2-3 hours right now. I'm on a course of antibiotics to treat it as well. I've been nauseous all day and have had a lot of trouble getting liquids in. Im exhausted. I'm still retaining Fluid and can't fit into my pants. I have a bathrobe and t-shirts that fit and one skirt. I dont have any energy. Im stillnon Clear Liquids and can't advance yet as I was npo so much of my hospital stay. I had a doctors appointment today and found out I have air pockets trapped in certain parts of my body that can be palpated. I have no idea why. My sick goat died. So my partner will be driving two hours to pick up her remains this weekend. I can't do a 2 hour car trip so I'll be staying home with one of my sons helping me. I can't lay flat, so im sleeping in the livong room on a chair. And need help getting out of the chair. Stairs are my enemy and by the the time I make it from the 1st to 2nd floor I have to sit down and rest. Im not out of breath its more of an energy depletion issue. I've never been this sick. Even chronic tonsilitis was easier. Thankfully my kids have been great helpers and stepped up to help me with things I can't do for myself now.
  21. Yes really a sick goat. I have two Nigerian Dwarf goats. They're the sweetest things and about 40 pounds. They're actually much smaller than my dogs: a greyhound and English Mastiff mix. I also have chickens and rabbits.
  22. I cam home Saturday evening. Had to deal with avsick goat yesterday who is now in critical condition at University of Pennsylvania. This morning I awoke to a wet t-shirt. I have a large abscess at one of my large incision sites (not where my drain was). I see my surgeon today at 3 to have it dealt with. In the meantime it's leaking yellow stinky goo. My allergic reaction rash is improving a bit and I see my primary dr tomorrow for that as well as the fluids (massive edema as I went from 198.2 to 223 pounds while in the hospital. It hurts to walk. None of my pants fit over my knees. My shoes are all tight. I can't veven wear socks as they cut into me. Im a hot mess when it comes to what I've been wearing, lol. Havi
  23. I came home the evrning of day 5. Today day 7 sometime between 3 and 5:30am I had an abcess start to leak. I woke up wet. Hopped in the shower, called my surgeon and go in this afternoon to have it taken care of. That's the only part of me that hurts. Well aside from the fact that on surgery day I was 198.2 and I'm now 223; yes im retaining fluids like crazy. I was npo in the hospital and throwing up blood so they were pushing fluids continuously.
  24. I had my bypass Tuesday morning and am still at the hospital. I also had a hital hernia repaired. I was a revision from a band which came out in April. Im still fighting nausea and pain. Lots of left side pain. And complications along the way. I've been sleeping in a recliner here at the hospital.
  25. 4td day post op My surgeon think im very swollen where the pouch meets the intestine. If he's right then as I heal I should be able to tolerate liquids
