    Help! Ibuprofen after surgery?

My surgeon said Advil is okay with sleeve, but they say no to everyone to avoid confusion. I took it once with no problem, but I certainly needed narcotics post-op. Never ibuprophen after by-pass.

    Surgery in 3 hours!

Stay focused on all the reasons you are doing this and the end results. It's a rough couple of days, but you do get through it and then it's a distant memory. Just keep reminding yourself that everyday gets better and cute clothes are just around the bend. Surrender...and breathe. Good luck!

    Stool Softener

There is a chocolate flavored "smooth nove" tea I drink nightly. I add a few drops of stevia to it. It works gently and helps you get in your water.

  5. I'll be 3 weeks post op tomorrow and have had egg 3 times in the past week without a problem. Try a few bites.

    I Cheated.

I'm 16 days out and lunch eat is on my soft foods list as is hummus. As a matter of fact, had them both today. Not a cheat with my NUT.

Can you trust your gut instinct?

Well said. If your doctor isn't making you feel like you are being heard or being treated with the utmost professionalism and expertise, go to the ER or to another doctor. You did this procedure to improve your Heath and you have to advocate for yourself vehemently.

    Ouch! 6 days post op

Bingo! Going through the same thing. I also got the "anchoring stitch to prevent hernia" explanation and also the "pulled your stomach through that hole" explanation. Dent is there as well. Pretty. Suffered like a dog for days until they finally discovered they had cut through a nerve. I went in twice for them to try steroid shots to numb the nerve, but that was useless. Finally I went on Neuronyin for nerve pain and got immediate relief. Went from walking 50-75 steps daily to 4000 steps in 4 days. Call and ask. I was told the burning sensation is the tell tale sign and it can take 6 weeks or longer to heal. I, like you, had 2 C-sections, a gallbladder removal and a hysterectomy and NOTHING like this kind of pain. Incidentally, learned that walking helps heal the nerve, but yawza!!!!
  9. Hah-! So glad. When you tire if taco, try ranch dip powder. I did a variety of international flavors, like masala and turmeric for Indian, etc. I know you have to go easy on the spices and not everyone can tolerate, but I had no problems and the savory options kept me sane.

    Rate of weight loss

Oh, I hear you. Addicted!!! I'm currently 1 pound heavier than my husband. Weighing less than him will be my first milestone. Lol!!!

    Rate of weight loss

That's about what I did (12 lbs) the first 2 weeks. I was sleeved 3/24 and have just started walking. Saw the NUT yesterday and she said that is right on track.

    MAJOR regrets

Just sending you hugs. A month of feeling crappy would send anyone to tears. How frustrating. If you don't feel like you are getting the support you need from your surgeon, I'd suggest a second opinion. You can also call your PCP or whomever prescribes your Zoloft. Maybe there is an oral form. If not, (and even if so) maybe some therapy is a good idea. Depression is tough and the lower you go, the harder it is to climb out of. You don't need all of that at once. Hope there is some sunshine where you live. Maybe get outside for an hour today and go someplace beautiful and soak it all in. Will be looking forward to hearing what the doctor said.
  13. I was too! Got so desperate I was putting taco seasoning in Greek yogurt for savory. It was heaven. Started soft foods today. What a flippin' relief.

    Nail polish

I called and asked the OR dept and they said no problem with having polish.

    question for new sleevers

I am 2 weeks out and had a slight complication. When they made my largest incision on the left, the cut a nerve. This caused significant pain that we've just gotten out of control the past 3 days with a medication specifically for nerve pain. The pain was no joke; however, it's temporary and my sleeve is doing great. Down 17.7 lbs and I figure this is a small bump in the road. Without the surgery, I'd be headed to meds for diabetes and high blood pressure. The data shows the risks associated with obesity are far greater than those of the surgery. That being said, I agree with the others, you have to feel right about it and it is more difficult to do that without support. More information and education can help tremendously. My surgeon explained everything beautifully to my husband and mother and I saw their worries ease. Would yours be willing to do that?

    March 2014 Sleevers

Mystery solved...I hope. 1 week post op today and I have worse pain than day 3 out. Just one area on the left side by my largest incision hole. It's like I am getting stabbed by a burning sword when I stand up and walk. I called yesterday and the surgeon on-call knew right away that they had sutured a nerve. Going in this morning for a shot of Kenalog to numb the pain. I guess it can take up to 6 weeks to heal on its own. "Ain't nobody got time for that". Cross your fingers it works. I need a break!

    March 2014 Sleevers

We seem to be living in a parallel universe because I just read your post and felt like I was reading my own. Sleeved the same day, same pain, same response to trying protein! The pain on my left side is so intense though that I could not possibly be back to work. At rest it is non-existent, nut when I move about I want to cry out. How can this pain be worse than it was 2 days post-op? Baffling. On a happy note, down 13 lbs since pre-op diet/7 since surgery so that's exciting. Not regretting anything, but surely ready to be out of pain and off meds.
