  1. The atkins shakes and bars say they have 2 or 3 'net' carbs. When I look at the back of the product (nutrition label) it (the bar) shows that it has 18 carbs with 6 of Fiber and 2 of sugar alcohols. This doesn't add up to me. How can they say it has 3 net carbs? I'm also looking for a low carb ready to drink shake that is not awful tasting. I got 'Premier Nutrition' chocolate shakes at costco and gag! They have this really weird taste to them. They are 30g. of Protein and 2g carbs. Great numbers if I can cover the taste with enough almond extract. I'd like to know of shakes that taste a little better. Thanks

  4. Janell, don't think you're near maxed out. I felt no restriction until I got to where I am now: 4.4cc's in a 4cc band. You need to be aggressive with your fills. I had trouble adhering to the program rules but with the right fill I find that I am now losing. You can see that I am a slow loser. Don't mind-read the doc: he's there to do what you need him to do. My doctor said that everyones stomach is different. I see people here that take very little fill or some none at all! I know that as I lose more weight I will need even more fill. He told me: don't worry, you won't max out. Hah! I may surprise him, ya? Valerie
  5. I had an especially tight day yesterday and pretty much knew that it might get me past the stubborn 200 mark. Sure enough, I was 199.2 this morning. Phew! Now I just have to solidify it so it doesn't pop back up into that pesky 200-zone. Yee-Haa!!
  6. I had to go to 4.4cc's in my band before I had enough restriction. It's amazing how different we all are.
  7. I'm at 200.6 for two days now. Scale is so stubborn sometimes!!

  9. I'm right on the verge! YEA!!
  10. It's so close! I was hoping to be at 200 by the 4th of July but missed it by a 2#'s. So I've extended my little goal to one week more. I'm so happy that my fills have finally been effective. I'm really trying to cut my carbs and eat the Protein while watching the time between eating. Grazing can be such a problem! After 9 months, it's good to finally be losing. My Weight Chart:
  11. I can say that Ive never felt REALLY depressed about it but it is kind of a bummer. But like others have said, I haven't put in the effort. Even now my exercise stickers on my calendar get very lonely. I just haven't done it. I injured my ankle in February and just got back to normal the beginning of this month. Oh, and its been hot out...(excuse) so I haven't walked much,,,oh, and I belong to a gym but I find it really hard to fit into my 'busy' schedule (excuse). BUT!!! My fill is now where it should be...totally sweet. And I have been eating slowly and Protein first. AND!!! I've been losing real steady now. Like, I've lost 2 pounds this week. I think my sweet spot has been with me for 3 weeks and it just took me awhile to accustom myself to it. I work evenings and this seems to make a difference. When I'm home I don't need food as much. You'd think it'd be the other way around. Point is that HOPE is there. Don't give up. I was aggressive with my fills to the point that my doctor got sick of seeing me lol. He could see where he poked me the last time cus the mark was still there. Well, he hasn't seen me in a while. I'm one who stopped writing but never stopped reading. Especially here in our monthly forum. Slow or fast, to me it doesn't matter. I definately would have put weight on had I not done this. 2 other things have changed for me that is very significant. I was a binge eater and liked to eat out ALOT. Mexican, pizza, Pasta YUM. Can't go there much now. And I LOVED my beer. I can't tolerate carbonation so I'm pretty abstinate...that's a good thing because alcohol was a problem for me. This operation isn't completely about weight. My cholesterol was good before but my triglicerides have gone down significantly. This is good. So keep your chin up and pray for patience. Valerie
  12. Well, my band seems tighter the past 3 days or so and I'm grateful because the scale is going down again. I'm 4 pounds away from onederland and have a personal commitment to do it by July 4th. Valerie
  13. Woohoo! down a pound. Only took me 2.5 weeks....
  14. I'm a very slow loser but I am ok with that. In the past 2 months I have been on a roll (slow-roll lol). I am closing in on onederland and wanted to join you all. I will be so glad to be under 200 again!

  19. I tried to follow the link and it popped me right back to the lapband forum homepage. Anyone else?
  20. I have really good restriction now...perhaps a tad too tight. But if I have eaten something (small amount) or take my pills and then drink Water (a large gulp), I almost invariably become quickly nauseated; you know where your mouth begins to salivate and you know it's pending. Then I may feel nauseated for several hours after...a mild nausea but there just the same. I don't know what it's about except I know I shouldn't drink fast, especially with eating...big bandster no no. Valerie
  21. You can actually go to 5cc's in this band. I am finally at restriction at 4.2cc's. I wouldn't wait a second longer than I had to if I were you.
  22. Yea! I'm losing consistantly now! UPDATE: cQQlgirl ..........220.........195.........209................14<!-- google_ad_section_end -->
  23. I just got this fabulous new book called, "Weight Loss Surgery with the AGB: everything you need to know before and after surgery to lose weight successfully" by Robert W. Sewell, MD. It is really good and I have purchased many WLS books and researched much on the web. One thing it talked about that I found sooo interesting is that some people become addicted to FILLS. He calls it 'adjustment addiction': "Despite doing quite well, losing a pound or two a week, these patients believe tht continually adjusting the band helps to ensure their continued success. I believe these patients are not so much craving another "needle stick" but instead are simply insecure in their own success. Generally these patients have not yet accepted the fact that it is their behavior, not the band that is causing them to lose weight." He goes on to say that some professionals inadvertantly feed into this behavior because its easier to just adjust the patient than deal with the situation. He says it can be the cause of potential conflict with the medical team and patient. "Put a little in, take a little out--it can become an endless Quest, searching repeatedly for the right amount of Fluid in the band. In this situation the surgeon actually becomes the 'adjustment addiction' inabler." Is that not wild? It made me stop and think a second before my last fill. Not enough to stop me from getting it. I am happy to say that I am good and tight now and am aware that this 'adjustment addiction' can be a real issue. Thought I would pass this on to y'all. Valerie
  24. I think I overdid my goal weight for this challenge. I'm bringing it down 5 pounds to be somewhat more realistic. I hope this isn't cheating!!
