  1. Hi, I'm with Dr provost but he's in Denton. We also have UHC and Dr Nicholson is listed as in network with ours. Weird.
  2. BAH! Just told another friend. Oh wait, make that two more friends. Oh, and hubby told his mom today. LOL! I guess I'll let my mom know too! LOL I wish I could shout it out and get it over with. This 'keeping it a secret' thing is killin me. LOL But there are two people we know who have had bariatric surgery and we really don't want to hear their opinions or suggestions. They are not very good examples either. And they are know-it-alls.
  3. Thank you. No date yet. We see the nut in an hour and psych on Monday then it goes for approval then we'll get a date. I have a 6 day road trip mid July so hopefullt the sooner the better. Had our MD appt this morning. I worried for nothing if course. Didn't do an ekg since its not required. Just did blood work which needed to be done anyway. Don't know if surgeon needs the results though. I got a new anxiety med too to take as needed. Hopefully that will help. I will probably continue to see the psych to help me fix that problem. : P
  4. Thanks! Are sleeve foods the same for bypass?
  5. I see there are a few books out there with recipes for wls. Any recommendations? Especially if they have the different stages.
  6. I understand. What I don't understand is why none of that was needed/done for all of my previous major surgeries. Weird. Also, if there was a problem with my heart wouldn't it show up on the leads/monitor during/after surgery six months ago?
  7. I'm reading some people have to do a sleep study, ekg, and endoscopy. If I had to do those i wouldn't be doing the surgery. They wouldn't be able to get any result from the sleep study because I will not sleep if someone is watching me. No way. Endoscopy? Really? Isn't the surgeon going to look and fix (if anything) at all that anyway while in there? Though an ekg also isn't required for us (my husband and I) per our insurance and surgeon, our MD needs to write "cleared for surgery" on his recommendation letter and that might mean he'll want to do an ekg tomorrow morning. I have much anxiety at a drs office and testing so I hope we don't have to do it. I've never had to do any if this stuff before anyof my surgery, latest one being six months ago. Sure is interesting to see everyone's different requirements.
  8. Just curious to hear what foods you've tried but can't tolerate anymore. I hear with gb you can't eat sugars (ie candy, candy bars, cake, ice cream, etc) anymore. I'm going to stick with that. I hope. I don't even want to try because if I try and I feel ok then I will eat more and get fat again. Also, just curious, if you get a craving for something your not supposed to have can you chew it then spit it out to satisfy the craving? Obviously not taking about ice cream. Dangit. Lol
  9. Stupid question? How long will it take to eat something? I kind of picture myself always putting foods in my mouth, by the time I finish breakfast it'll be time for lunch with all those little bites you have to chew 50000 times. Ha
  10. oops! Sorry. I just noticed that I'm in a Sleeve forum.
  11. Maybe this will encourage you..... the coach on my daughter's volleyball team just had it done last Monday. I couldn't even tell he had surgery on Saturday. His wife had it too but it was fine on Wednesday and a revision from Lap band to sleeve and I could tell she had something done with her abdomen but didn't know what. I found out after the game. Everyone is different though. Determination plays a role too. Get up and walk as much as you can and you'll heal faster imo.
  12. I'm concerned I'm going to have to eat ALL THE TIME it will seem. I only eat about 1-2 meals a day now, don't snack, I just don't think about eating nor even think about it until my stomach grumbles around 3 or 4pm. I already know that's not healthy and my body is retaining fat blah blah blah but I can't help it. When I was on Weight Watchers my points were around 35 and it seemed I was constantly eating and I hated it. Am I going to have trouble with this? I was watching a youtube video of post op eating (days 1 and 2) and drinking 1 oz over a two hour time and then 2 oz over a 3 hr period of time, something like that. Sounds very tedious. Does it get easier? I'm hoping eventually I can just eat and be done with it and not take 2 hrs eating something only to have to turn around and eat again..
  13. Hi I'm near Denton, tx. My husband and I are doing this together, hopefully done next month. He's getting a sleeve, I'm.getting rny because if herd and hernia. What are you two getting/got? I'm not finding too many support groups or mentors around here. Our surgeons office has one that meets up twice a month but we missed the first one. Hopefully we'll make the next. Our dr is dr provost in Denton.
  14. My husband will be getting a sleeve and I'll get an RNY (because of gerd and hernia) hopefully next month. We are getting surgery clearance from our MD on Wednesday (hopefully!!!) And NUT too, then seeing the psych the following Monday then final approval from insurance- UHC JPMogan Chase. We are going through their bariatric program and have gotten first approval already. Hubby and I want to be on the same/similar food track to make this easier for both of us with our meals and accountability.
  15. Bah!!!! I just told someone else. . Lol
  16. I bow down to you! LOL I am in the process of approval and appointments now and I'm 230, but 5' 6". You give me HOPE and EXCITEMENT!!
  17. My hysterectomy last November was done by robotic laparoscopy. "off site" just might mean out of the same room you are in but in a side room, with windows, in with the "robot" machine thing. I've had that and tratitional laparoscopic surgery and I didn't notice a difference. You'll need to ask her how many she's done robotically though. It's a failry new thing and takes A LOT of practice. From what I understand for some Dr's it is easier to move the equipment inside of you robotically. Also, your body may be put in some weird positions and you may have some bruises on your body afterwards. Those are from the straps holding you in so you don't fall off the table.
  18. This is HARD not telling any/every body! Ok. So now a neighbor friend that I talk to quite often knows and I almost spilled it with three more today, including my mom!!! I honestly don't know what she would say but she was so critical of my brother when I told her the profession he is starting to get into (they don't talk much), so ya, I didn't say anything. It's hard because my kids and I will be visiting her, hopefully, in mid July but it all depends on when surgery is scheduled so when she asks when we'll be coming I don't know what to tell her! All she knows is that something's going on but I can't say yet. ugh
  19. ok. So now I'm actually looking forward to seeing the psych after yesterday's big time anxiety attack. ugh I'm not even going to mention it and save that for a different visit. I need her to sign the sign the "OK" for surgery first. LOL!
  20. oh well. It is what it is. They won't even recognize me soon enough anyway. Besides, we all have doppelgangers somewhere in the world, right?
  21. Well we have some hope then. We are sitting in an ER room right now waiting for A CT scan. He just got his morphine. Was this bad last May too. Ugh
  22. Thanks! It's good to see someone else who started at the same weight as I am Terry. I'm 5' 6" and wrote down 150 as my goal weight because I figured I couldn't get any lower than that. Your posts are encouraging! Thank you! My weight kept at 130 all throughout High School and that was with playing softball. I was not 'overweight' back then. In Jr. High is was around 113. I wish I had an awareness of my body and how fit/good looking it was back then, maybe I would have kept it off. But that was the past and now I move forward!
