Went in to see my dr. for my post surgery appt. All is going good and now I just have to wait till Oct 15th for my first fill Checked out the accuracy of my scale with the dr's and they were the same, so I guess I am doing ok with the weight loss. Plus I got the ok to swim, so I will be adding that to my daily walking. Hope everyone else is doing good too.......Dave:whoo::whoo:

Diet... misnomers
I read posts like this and then forget about them. I will continue to follow the plan set forward by my surgeon. If we took away EVERYTHING that could be considered bad for us, all we would be left with is purified air and purified water. I can not see myself living on that, so for me I will pick and choose the best choices I can. Just my 2 cents though....Dave

Day 2 POST-OP, am i getting enough?
Hazeley, Glad to see you are back. You are lucky. I could only have liquids (broth) for the first 2 weeks. I had my first cottage cheese yesterday. Yummm:hungry: I would say you are getting enough. My routine was and still is a Protein shake for Breakfast and dinner and 4 o zof broth or Soup for lunch. I have added pureed chicken starting at day 14 and its a real treat. Keep up with the water/liquid and the protein. It helps with the low energy level and you will also begin to feel better soon. The first 4-5 days were uncomfortable to me......Dave

Clear liquids - list
Beachgirl, My clear liquids were only for the day in the hospital, then on to full liquids. But even so, I did what you are doing, water Crystal Light and chicken broth for 2 weeks. Call your dr and ask if you can go to protein shakes. They help a lot. Good luck....Dave

How do I know when Im full or hungry
Linda, I never felt full or hungry. I set a planned meal system, which was a protein shake for breakfast and one for dinner, with about 3-4 oz of clear liquid for lunch. This worked for me. Plus I went all out with at least 70 oz of water/crystal light throughout the day. Good luck....Dave

Drink Mixer...Magic Bullet?
:welcome: My Magic Bullet has been working overtime for over 2 months now and I love it.Small enough for the portions I am mixing and easier to clean than my full sized mixer. Just dont turn it on and run it for a long time. Give it time to cool down ( pulse mixing). I had one back in my pre-band days that was used for mixing real drinks with ice cubes and that is how I killed it...LOL I give it :banana:banana

Protein
Mandi, You can cut back to 2 protein shakes and one meal per day or the other way around and the stomach aches should go away. My dr said they are from too drastic of a change in our normal eating habits. My pre-op diet was a Protein shake for breakfast and one for either lunch or dinner, plus a small meal. I am using the Protein powder from Walmart. Low in everything but protein. Hope this helps....Dave

I more day, then MUSHIE HEAVEN !!!!
To all that are nearing mushy stage. It was worth waiting for. I'm still doing the protein shakes, but adding something with substance has helped. I'm lucky to get 5 teaspoons of pureed food in before I feel full. 13 days till soft foods...LOL Dave

do I really need a C-PAP machine?
Thanks, Very Severe Obstructive Apnea.

do I really need a C-PAP machine?
My cousin was very heavy and was diagnosed with sleep apnea. He was not one to wear the mask all of the time. He died at the age of 39 due to a heart attack that the Dr. contributed to the excess stress put on his heart because of the apnea. That is what pushed me into persuing surgery and a sleep study. Not saying this is the same for all, but why take the chance........Dave

Finished sleep study..sleep apnea....cpap
Marieze, Keep a glass of water near the bed when you first start with the CPAP. Mine dried my throat out quite a bit, but after a few days, I got used to it. Now to make the sleep apnea go away........Dave

Whoa that was easy! Approved!
Congrats on the approval. I'm happy to see someone getting it without the ins.company being a royal pain....Dave
-
Okay, THAT was disgusting.
I'll stick with my Whey protein powders from GNC and Walmart for now. No chunks and they taste pretty good too. Thanks for the heads-up....Dave

I more day, then MUSHIE HEAVEN !!!!
Well, I skipped the egg, went for the Protein shake again. I guess good habits are hard to break. But for lunch, I pureed 1/4 th of a small (snack size) can of 98% fat free chicken in Water and mixed 1/4 tsp of FF ranch dressing with it. Pure heaven, but I got full after 4 small teaspoons . Never made it to the pureed cauliflower...LOL My weekly grocery bill is going to be real small for a while. Hope everybody is having a good day....Dave

dr. recommended STAGES...
Thats why we are all here, to help each other out. Right after surgery, I was pretty sore, but only because I had a 4 hour marathon surgery...LOL I had complications because of abdominal surgery I had 5 rs ago and lots of scar tissue. As far as the actual lapband part, it was only 45 minutes long. I woke up with just a little pain, kinda felt like a pulled muscle. I too want good results, so I was careful to follow all dr. orders and made sure you take the pain meds they gave me. You will need the sleep the first couple of days. I found a recliner was best. You probably will develope a cough, but its from the air tube they put down your throat. Nothing to worry about. Other than that, I took meds for 2 days, started walking in Walmart the day after surgery ( 95 outside was too much). I now know every aisle in Walmart, Target, Home Depot and Lowes...LOL Dave Plus you get insomnia and are on this site at all times of the night....:car:
